Gladiators Online Developer’s Guide: Staff MembersThis guide covers overview of Staff types, mechanics behind Morale and Stamina, it also aims to explain complexities and common misunderstandings.
Staff Members Overview
Staff Members are there to maintain your Gladiators – refill their Health, Stamina Morale and train their Attribute points. Every Staff Member has 3 treatment/ trainings available that vary in terms of effect and duration. Staff Members are employed for several days or hours (Courtesans). Classes are described in their respective sections.
Staff members are most effective while treating Gladiators of the same level. The difference in the levels between Staff Member and Gladiator is called a delta. The bigger the delta the greater cost and duration of treatment (Magisters are exception). Healers, Courtesans and Doctores take twice the time for every 1 level of delta. Masseurs take 25% more time for every level of Delta.
Contrary to a popular belief, Premium Staff doesn’t give an upper hand during Combat, but grant a great amount of convenience. Premium Staff Members are permanent, which means that you won’t have to worry about them anymore, they also offer faster treatment/ trainings and allow to save great deal of Silver.
Healers
Healers do what their name says, and like the rest of the staff, come in all forms and sizes. The better the healer the faster your man will be back on his feet.
Gladiators lose Health in combat, and should be healed every time they come back from the Arena. In most cases Gladiator will come back as Injured, which means that he can’t fight until he’s healed.
Every treatment is different. They vary in terms of duration, cost and effect, but essentially the longer the treatment, the more health points refilled.
Amount of Health Points Gladiator will receive upon finishing the treatment, up to his maximum.
Time needed to complete the treatment. It depends on missing health, selected treatment and difference of levels between Gladiator and Healer. There’s a penalty for each level of Gladiator higher than the Healers’s. Be aware that treatment cannot be cancelled, so be careful when assigning Gladiators.
Cost of treatment that is required to be paid in order to start treatment. It depends on type of treatment, amount of missing health and Healer’s level.
Masseurs
These strong men with their caring hands will get your exhausted fighters Stamina replenished in no time. This is very important as otherwise the men will neither be able to exercise and train, nor will they be at their full Endurance potential when entering the Arena.
Every treatment is different. They vary in terms of duration, cost and effect, but essentially the longer the treatment, the more stamina points refilled.
Amount of Stamina Gladiator will receive upon finishing the treatment, up to his maximum.
Time needed to complete the treatment. It depends on amount of missing stamina, selected treatment and difference of levels between Gladiator and Masseur. There’s a penalty for each level of Gladiator higher than the Masseurs’s. Be aware that treatment cannot be cancelled, so be careful when assigning Gladiators.
Cost of treatment that is required to be paid in order to start treatment. It depends on type of treatment, amount of missing Stamina and Masseur’s level.
Courtesans
Every gladiator inevitably will come to the point where he is at wits end. Fate is a fickle mistress and it takes a real woman’s embrace to build up a loser. Fighters suffering from low Morale are a bigger danger to themselves than to their opponents – keep this in mind. Low Morale lowers almost every Attribute of a gladiator.
Gladiators lose 20 Morale for a defeat on Arena and gain 10 Morale for winning. The lower Morale, the bigger Attribute penalty. Damage and Initiative decrease by percentage, rest of the Attributes decrease by percentage points. Health, Samina and Endurance are not affected by low Morale.
Every session is different. They vary in terms of duration, cost and effect, but essentially the longer the session, the more Morale refilled.
Amount of Morale Gladiator will receive upon finishing the session with a Courtesan up to a maximum of 100.
Time needed to complete the session. It depends on selected treatment and difference of levels between Gladiator and Courtesan. There’s a penalty for each level of Gladiator higher than the Courtesan’s. Be aware that session cannot be cancelled, so be careful when assigning Gladiators.
Stamina needed by Gladiator in order to start the session. It depends on selected session and Courtesan’s level. Important: Sessions cost Stamina – so make sure your gladiators are well rested before entering the Arena or their Endurance will suffer noticeably. One way is to hire the help of a Masseur – the other is to simply let them rest a while.
Doctores
Doctore (Latin “teacher”) is the title awarded to your coaches and trainers. These veteran gladiators train your men hard, sometimes mercilessly. Through constant exercise your fighters will permanently improve their Attributes in form of Attribute Points, which you in turn can allocate in the Quarters on the Gladiator’s Attribute Sheet.
With each new level and each successful training session gladiators gain additional Training Opportunities. Each of these may in turn be trained with the Doctore and then spent within one of the three Attribute Categories: Attack/Defense/Condition. Once committed the Point is then randomly assigned within the Category, following a specific formula for each Gladiator Class.
Every training is different. They vary in terms of duration, cost and effect, but essentially the longer the training, the better effect.
Amount of Attribute Points Gladiator will receive upon finishing the training (100% equals to 1 Attribute Point). Be aware that Gladiator will not receive more Attribute Points than his Training Opportunities, so sometimes it is redundant to send him for longer training sessions.
Time needed to complete the training. It depends on selected treatment and difference of levels between Gladiator and Doctore. There’s a penalty for each level of Gladiator higher than the Doctore’s. Be aware that trainings cannot be cancelled, so be careful when assigning Gladiators.
Stamina needed by Gladiator in order to start training. Important: Working out costs Stamina – so make sure your gladiators are well rested before entering the Arena or their Endurance will suffer noticeably. One way is to hire the help of a Masseur – the other is to simply let them rest a while.
Magisters
These guys are the weapon experts of ancient Rome. Their job is to prepare each fighter individually for the next combat – maximizing each man’s potential. They temporarily boost one of the gladiator’s Attributes and should be matched according to the strengths of the fighter in training.
Magisters give Gladiators a 30 minute boost to Attributes. Unlike Doctores, they do not have any additional requirements, but the boost is only temporary.
Every training is different. They vary in terms of duration, cost and effect, but essentially the longer the training, the better effect.
Amount and type of Attribute Points Gladiator will temporarily receive upon finishing the training with a Magister.
Time needed to complete the training session. It depends on selected training.
Stamina needed by Gladiator in order to start the session. It depends on selected session. Important: Preparing for a fight costs varying amounts of Stamina – so make sure your gladiators are well rested before entering the Arena or their Endurance will suffer noticeably. The best way is to hire the help of a Masseur.
