Hoplomachus


Hoplomachus derives his name from the Greek “Hoplon”, the typical round shield of Hellenic fighters. Clearly the inspiration for this gladiator class was the Hoplite with his “Sarissa” lance, fighting in the armies of Alexander. The Hoplomachus is a medium armored combatant focusing on spear and small shield.

Powerful Attack causing an additional +25% damage.

Heroic Leap (Offensive)

Steals 2 Virtus Points from the opponent if available + regular damage.

Fatigue (Passive)

Each successful Regular Attack has a 75% chance of reducing the opponent’s Armor Values by 10% for 3 seconds.

Perforate (Offensive)

Opponent’s Armor Values reduced by 25% for 10 seconds + regular damage.

Finishing Blow (Offensive)

Attack deals an additional +40% damage, if opponent has less than 25% Health.

Retaliation (Passive)

Endurance regeneration increases by {player_endurance_regeneration_value} if gladiator’s Health falls below 50%.

Murmillo


Murmillo is the archetypical gladiator of imperial Rome. His name may derive from Latin “Murex”, a pointy-shelled sea snail, well-fitting a defensive combat strategy. He is heavily armored, fights with a gladius short sword and wields a large shield.

Divine Protection (Tactical)

Parry and Dodge increased by 25% while disabling opponent’s Critical Hit Chance for 7 seconds. Generates 1 Virtus.

Eviscerate (Offensive)

Powerful Attack causing an additional +40% damage.

Testudo

Block increased by 15% and Parry increased by 15%, if gladiator’s Health falls below 50%.

Retiarius


The most iconic of all gladiator classes, he fights with the “Rete”, the fishermen’s net, and the trident. Retiarii are only lightly armored, predominately with solid shoulder armor, the “Galerus”. They do not use any shields, generally relying on their tridents wielded with both hands.

Offensive Stance increases the Damage Dealt by 20% while decreasing the gladiator’s own Armor Value by 25%, for 15 seconds. Generates 1 Virtus.

Open Wounds (Passive)

Each successful Regular Attack has a 50% chance of causing the opponent to Bleed for 1% opponent’s maximum health.

Net Cast (Offensive)

Opponent’s weapon is entangled and disabled for 6 seconds + regular damage.

Deadly Aim (Tactical)

Critical Hit Chance increased by 25% for 20 seconds. Generates 1 Virtus.

Thraex


Thraex class developed from the fierce warriors of the north-eastern province of Thrace. Gladiators of this type generally fight with curved swords such as the one-handed “Sica”. They are medium armored and wield small rectangular shields.
