Overview
This will tell you the basics of zombie mod in counter strike source.
Before We Begin
Before we can start, let’s ask a few questions alright.

Now that I’ve said the questions, now it’s time to answer them.
What’s Zombie Mod
ZombieMod is a server side modification for Counter-Strike Source. The aim of the game is to conquer the attacking zombies or kill all humans depending on what side of the field you currently are. The game may be played on any map, and users join a server like any other CS:S server without any pre-requisites. The plugin was designed so that it may be run on either Windows or Linux Source Dedicated Servers with a minimal instalation time.
Which Gun Are Da Best Guns
1Q: What is Zombie Mod?
2Q: Which guns are the best for Zombie Mod?
In Zombie Mod, some servers will ban certain weapons which is usually the MG and all the rifles, so you will be forced to remain using Smgs, Pistols and Shotguns.
In Zombie Mod the weapons you should NEVER use and they are Sniper rifles. Scouts AWPs are a bad idea for Zombie Mod, they fire way too slow, take too long to reload and you need to be in such a high up and hard to reach camp spot that Zombies can’t come kick your ass while you’re camped in scope.
Now, the good weapons to use.
- Pistols: Any pistol works, unless you’re planning on venting or tubing. In that case, use a Desert Eagle. It’s got a good fire rate, and if you aim for the head you’re sure to get em. Even when they jump inside the vent to cancel out KB, you SHOULD be able to knock em back a little. Although I love the Deagle, I use the P228. It fires .357 rounds at a high fire rate. It doesn’t have as much stopping power as the Deagle, but does the trick. As always, aim for the head.
- Shotguns:Don’t be fooled by the XM1014, better known as the auto-shotty. It becomes impossible to aim when emptied, and it’s even worse on no-reload servers. The M3, however, is an excellent choice for shooting out of windows or through gaps in cades and provides tons of stopping power for hunting. It’s a godly weapon on no-reload servers.
- SMGs: This isn’t GG. Any of the choices (EXCEPT the UMP45.) available works, depending on the situation. For defending windows, a TMP or MAC10 works well. The best SMG, in my opinion, is the MP5. It has a high rate of fire, is extremely accurate and can pummel enemies back. Aim for the head; the MP5’s 9mm bullets are useless when fired at limbs or the chest. The P90 deserves an honorable mention; it also has a high fire rate, but uses 5.7 rounds. It has more stopping power than the tiny MP5, but should be used for no more than medium range.
- Assault Rifles: The M4A1 and AK47 are both decent choices, but I prefer the AUG or the FAMAS; The AUG for its 7.62 caliber and scope, the FAMAS for its insane rate of fire (you’re shooting about 1100 5.56 bullets per minute.) On no-reload servers, the FAMAS rules. The GALIL is also a valid choice if you’re low on cash.
- Sniper Rifles: The G3/SG-1 (terrorist auto-sniper) is good because of its 7.62 caliber, but wildly inaccurate when fired full auto. Fired in two-burst headshots, it is much better than the SG550, which fires 5.56 and is even more inaccurate. The AWP is great for defending corridors (stritcly as a support weapon) or roofing (again, as support) and is my favorite weapon to use when it comes to long range. The Scout is exclusively for bragging rights.
Is Zombie Mod Popular
1Q: What is Zombie Mod?
2Q: Which guns are the best for Zombie Mod?
3Q: Is Zombie Mod Popular?
In my “own” opinion, I would say YES! Here’s why.
- Reason #1: There are at least 4-5 different types of zombie game modes. There is, Zombie Mod (duh), Zombie Escape, Zombie Riot, Zombie Hell, Zombie Horde.
- Reason #2: Lots of player has at least or tried Zombie Mod once.
- Reason #3: Zombie Mod is AWESOME!
How To Play Zombie Mod
1Q: What is Zombie Mod?

4Q: How do you play Zombie Mod?
After a random amount of time (2-10 seconds), one player is changed into a Zombie complete with model, unable to use any weapon other than the knife, and is given 5,000 health. He is changed to the (T) team and everyone else to the (CT) team to allow for an operational scoreboard. They can also run alot faster than humans, are provided with night vision and have a 125? ?Field Of Vision? instead of the regular 90?. His only goal is to infect as many humans as possible by slashing them once with the knife, each scoring him one frag. Each subsequent Zombie is given 2,500 health, moved to the (T) team and also reduced to using their knife only. Zombies are knocked backwards with each shot so their only hope of survival is attacking in numbers. A few well aimed shots to a zombie?s head and it comes off complete with blood spray!
Zombies can only use voice with other zombies, the same goes for humans.
The round ends when either all the Zombies are killed, or all Humans have been turned to zombies.
Is It Possible To Win Zombie Mod

4Q: How do you play Zombie Mod?
5Q: Can you even win on Zombie Mod?
Yes you can win with as Human and Zombies. If I had to put it as a graph 1/3% chance Humans Win and 2/3% Zombies Win. And before you say that’s not right I mostly win on human, it is just a guess not fact.
Here are some gameplay videos of Zombie Mod.

6Q: What Are The Best Hiding Places?
Well it all really depends on the map.
Different Camp Spots/Styles.
I generalized the different Camp Styles into 3 Sections.
- Room Barricades : As most of you will know how to barricade a room, sometimes players will make stupid mistakes while doing so. Couple of things to remember, always check the room for alternate entrances/exits and always keep an eye out, if you have team mates with you, this can help keep an eye out, as long as they know what to do.
The mistakes people tend to make are quite frequent, but hopefully this guide shall help point them out : - Never stand near Doors or Windows, the Zombie knife Range is quite far, so if you stand too close to them, they can get you quite easily, so always stand as far back in the room as possible.
- Never use HE grenades in a barricaded room, this can disorientate, your team mates and most likely will mess up the barricade, only ever use it as a last resort, if they manage to break into the room. If you’re looking for a room to camp in and you find one, but it’s already barricaded, never shoot it down, to get in, this is selfish, messes up their work and increases the risk of Zombies getting in, just find another place to go.
- If you’re inside the barricaded room and the barricade is built, never start shooting it and knock it out the room, I can never understand why people do it anyway, might be a Rambo thing “I’m so tough I don’t need a barricade”.
- Last and most important, Always pay attention, you can let your attention slip slightly if you’re bored and nothing is going on, but remember, Zombies can be sneaky sometimes.
- Roof Camper : This doesn’t always necessarily refer to Roof, but in general camping up in high place. This is usually for people who like easier camping, but be careful not to fall. This also has its set of drawbacks and careless mistakes that people make.
- Check around, there’s a possibility that there’s a higher place, which means they could jump down on you and ambush you from behind.
- Never stand on the edge, this is the same problem as standing near Doorways and Windows, as the knife range can get you from below.
If you have a group, they will all tend to watch one side , just because there’s action going on, Make sure you have people watching all the sides constantly. - If someone is standing on the edge and wont move even if you ask them to, then keep your cross hair on their head and wait for them to die, then headshot them to knock them off the roof, so they don’t put you or your team mates in danger.
Pipe/Vent Camping
- This is a Neddy no-no. You should NEVER Pipe or Vent Camp especially with infinite ammo on, this is an unfair camp practice, its basically impossible to kill them and should always avoid them if possible.
A Note for this :
- If you happen to be confronted with this situation, never try and get them, it’s almost impossible to kill them, just leave them alone and they might get bored and leave or if they keep doing it, you could always try Voteban and Votekick.
Tips For Surviving As Human

7Q: Any Tips For Being A Human?
Why yes there is pay attention to this.
TIPS FOR HUMANS:
- There’s alternatives to getting turned. If you’re roofing and not too high off the ground, jump until you’re sure you’ll die the next time you jump. If you’re high off the ground, leave the zombies a nade and jump. I guarantee, people will worship you for it.
- Nades + Cades = Bad. If you can, throw a nade so it bounces off a wall and away from the entrance. You’ll nail the zombies and your cade will still be there.
- Be careful when you throw nades. When you’re bridging or roofing not too high off the ground, NEVER throw a nade. There’s probably someone waiting for it. Sure, nades are fun, but they’re traitorous.
- Again, suicide is almost always an option. Or you could “spec out” (just don’t get caught. I’m not responsible for you getting banned for this.). Just bind a key (I bound Q for this) like this:

Here’s some tips to help kill humans.
TIPS FOR ZOMBIES: – Got a “venter” or a “tuber” who won’t put away the P90? Switch your class to a Tank or Behemoth (or if you’re like me, you already are one) and jump into the vent. Keep moving forward and pressing spacebar. This cancels out KB, meaning you’ll still be moving forward, When you’re within range, shank ’em.
- Pushing is your best friend when it comes to cades. The E key makes wonders. Knifing won’t do much; why not pull that bookcase out the door? Or drag that pile of vendors out one by one? Have you tried running and pressing E against that stood up vendor?
- Zombies are way less vulnerable than you actually think. They have a huge knife reach, tons of health and, depending on your class, can reach particular spots much faster than a reguar human could.
- Many cades that LOOK unbreakable sometimes aren’t. If you’re able to get under the cade (e.g. under the room where the cade is built), push it with E. It’ll fly upwards and likely break everything. Rush in. If the humans rebuild the cade, repeat.
