Overview
UPDATE (5/27/16):This Guide will no longer be updated due to College Life, and the constantly changing meta, but skill order, playstyle and other basic stuff should be the same, and items should be the same, maybe a little different due to the CDR changes. This guide will help you know your ways through on how Aphrodite works and carry games with most powerful force in the universe. The power of LOVE.
Introduction
Aphrodite is one of my first mains in the game and she is also my first goddess that I mastered to Diamond. Aphrodite is considered one of the best solo laners in the game, due to her ability to farm safely and outsustaining her opponents. Aphrodite is picked for her amazing utility that she brings to her team and the ability to scale well into lategame. Even though I never shared the power of Aphrodite before SMITE was added to Steam, I decided that all the new players should learn the power of love.

Abilities – Tips
Note: More advanced tips will be added in the future.
Loving Embrace: Gaining Aphrodite’s favor is a blessing in that 30% of all Mana regenerated by Aphrodite is granted to her soul mate.
Tips
- Aphrodite technically doesn’t really have a passive since the mana regen boost isn’t that big enough to make a difference. This is probably what is keeping her balanced because of how much utility she brings in one kit.
Kiss
Aphrodite blows a kiss to an allied god, making them her soul mate and giving them both increased movement speed. If it hits an ally, it has a reduced 3s cooldown. If the kiss hits an enemy god, they are Stunned and Aphrodite’s soul mate gets jealous, increasing their damage.
Tips
- MAX THIS ABILITY LAST
- Bread and butter combo: Kiss -> Love Birds -> Back Off -> Basic Attacks
- Always have a soulmate, its basically free bonus movement speed.
- Fair warning, this skill prioritizes allies over enemies, so be careful if you are trying to stun an enemy god.
Back Off!
Agitated by all the attention, Aphrodite commands enemies to get away from her, doing damage around her and knocking them back to 25 units from her. If Aphrodite has a soul mate, an explosion originates on them in addition, dealing the same damage and slowing by 25% for 2s. If an enemy would be hit by both blasts, they will only be affected by the one originating from Aphrodite.
Tips
- MAX THIS ABILITY SECOND
- If you are playing conquest, avoid putting a second point in this skills at level 8 so you can get 2 points into your ultimate instead.
- If an enemy god is near your tower, stun him with your kiss then go behind the enemy god and knock him backwards into your tower.
- If you are bonded with a soul mate, don’t be afraid to use Back Off to damage enemies around your soulmate, it will deal a chunk of damage due to it’s high base damage and above average scaling.
Love Birds
Aphrodite calls forth a flock of beautiful doves that fly forward in the area in front of her. The doves circle around all enemies in the path, damaging enemies every .5s for 3s. Aphrodite and her soul mate also receive healing when cast.
Tips
- MAX THIS ABILITY FIRST
- The birds will ALWAYS heal you, even if it doesn’t hit anything.
- Pointing the birds at your allies does not heal them, you can only heal soul mates.
- This ability is very difficult to hit an enemy god without using Kiss due to it being telegraphed.
- Some enemy gods underestimate the birds.Do not underestimate the birds, they hurt… A LOT, use that to your advantage and they will be raging on why they died to a bunch of birds.
- Once you have enough mana or mana regen in the laning phase, you will always win trades unless you are going against another god with built – in sustain.
Undying Love
Aphrodite pledges undying love to herself and her soul mate. While this is active, her and her soul mate are invulnerable to all damage for a short duration. All Crowd Control effects are also removed when activated.
Tips
- LIKE MOST ULTIMATES, ALWAYS PUT A POINT IN IT
- This is a get out of jail free card, use it wisely.
- Timing is the key to mastering Undying Love as using it too early or late will get you and your friend killed.
- Best time to use this ability is when your soul mate is on the verge of death and is targeted by an enemy Ultimate. If timed correctly, you will basically deny the enemy a kill and many praises from your soulmate.
- In the laning phase, if you have 40% or less HP, try baiting your opponent to tower dive you so u can turn the tide on them.

Gameplay
Note: This will be expanded into more detail in the future.
BUILD PATHS
The Mage build focuses on taking advantage of Aphrodite’s huge magic scaling and allowing her to go toe to toe with almost any god/goddess in the game. This build’s disadvantage is that Aphro is basically a glass cannon, and can die super easily if not played properly. This is build is more suited for advanced Aphrodite Players..
In this Order
- Book of Thoth
-
- The Book of Thoth fixes Aphrodites mana issue and helps her clear the wave early game.
Shoes of Focus
-
- Early game cooldown reduction and movement speed.
Chronos Pendant
-
- Chronos Pendant helps Aphrodite reach maximum cooldown reduction, plus alleviating Aphros mana problem for good.
Bancrofts Talon
-
- This item has so much synergy with Aphro as it lets her heal back to full hp much faster the lower the health she has.
Rod of Tahuti
-
- Huge damage and healing boost.
Spear of the Magus
-
- Allows Aphro to do more damage with her birds to enemy gods.
The Utility-tank build focuses on being more support-oriented by constantly healing your allies while being much more difficult to kill, making the enemy work much more harder to take you out. This build’s disadvantage is that you will not do much damage to the enemy, meaning that you won’t win duels in a 1v1. Since this is a support-oriented build, this helps new players on how to play Aphrodite and getting to know her mechanics. This build also works when your team is lacking any tankiness. .
In this Order
- Warlocks Sash
-
- Warlocks Sash provides everything she needs to survive early game.
Shoes of Focus
-
- Early game cooldown reduction and movement speed.
Breastplate of Valor
-
- Provides armor, mana and cooldown reduction.
Lotus Crown
-
- This allows you and your soulmates to be tankier when you use Love Birds.
Rod of Ascelpius
-
- This improves Aphro’s healing while also providing her bonus movement speed and health.
Rod of Tahuti
-
- Huge damage and healing boost.
- Spirit Robe
-
- Great defensive item with a strong passive and 15% cooldown reduction.
Pythagorems Piece
-
- This allows Aphro to gain so much healing from her birds if she hits something with it and is one of the best items for her in Assault.
Maps Overview
Aphrodite’s strength is usually different between maps due to different strategies and playstyle.
CONQUEST
- Strength Level: 3.75/5
Aphrodite starts getting stronger as soon as she gets past one of her biggest weaknesses, her non-existant early game. If Aphro manages to survive past 10 minutes, she will be able to clear the wave and start snowballing. Once Aphrodite starts snowballing, she enters her strongest phase: Mid-Game. Aphrodite’s mid-game is where she starts shining, by then she would have completed 3 – 4 items depending on her farm and she should be a couple levels ahead of everyone in the game.
PROS
- Strong utility all game
- Best map to snowball
- Safe pick if you know how to play Aphro
CONS
- Worst early game ever
- Can have an even worse early game if enemies invade your jungle and steal your blue
- If the enemy notices you, expect lots of anit-healing items
- Becomes a free kill if you have been shut-down
ARENA
- Strength Level: 3/5
Even though Aphro is strong in teamfights, she is gold reliant, and the gold share means that she is on equal playing level with everyone. If Aphro requires to get ahead of everyone, she needs to get early game kills, which is one of Aphros biggest weaknesses. Aphrodites strengths are still viable in Arena though due to her healing and ability to save lives.
PROS
- Strong utility all game
- Aphrodite’s early game is safer in Arena
- Gets to mid-game a lot faster
CONS
- Must work harder to snowball
- Lots of Anti-heals
SEIGE
- Strength Level: 4/5
Seige is basically a simpler version and smaller version of conquest but with her early game being a little bit better than in Conquest. Due to the fast pace design of Seige,Aphrodite can get her items much quicker than conquest, while still being able to snowball. All of her strengths and weaknesses from Conquest are still the same in Seige.
PROS
- Strong utility all game
- Aphrodite’s early game is safer in Siege
- Head start into mid-game
- Lots of tight spaces for Love Birds, making it easier to hit
- Can counter-push easily
CONS
- Smaller map = constantly being near Pestilence anti-heal effect
- Higher chance of meeting Ah-Puch, one of Aphro’s biggest counters.
ASSAULT
- Strength Level: 3.75/5
Assault is a All Random All Mid type gamemode, and Aphrodite is one of the most wanted gods in Assault due to being a healer class, which only one team can bring. What Aphro brings to her team compared to the other healers is that she can save a teammates life every 40 – 90 seconds. Aphrodite is outclassed by other healers in Assault because Aphro is a single-target healer, but to compesate she also has the biggest heal in the game.
PROS
- Strong utility all game
- Aphrodite jumps straight into mid-game
- Can heal a low health god back to nearly full hp
- Less likely to have the enemy buy Weakening Curse due to Meditation
CONS
- 1 in 60+ chance of getting Aphro
- Her late game isn’t that great in Assault compared to other maps for some reason
JOUST
- Strength Level: 3.5/5
In Joust, Aphro is forced to share xp and gold with her other 2 teammates, which denies Aphro’s ability to snowball in the game. Joust is also one of the slower paced modes in the game, prolonging Aphro from getting her items. Her strengths here is basically more on her ability to force the enemy gods to recall back, allowing her team to push the lane and get a gold/xp/level advantage.
PROS
- Strong utility all game
- Aphrodite’s Ultimate becomes beyond godlike on this map
CONS
- Still has a horrilble early game
- Tiny map = always being near Pestilence anti-heal effect and Weakening Curse
MOTD
- Strength Level: Unvariable
MOTD = Have Fun
