Countering Guard Break
You have to press the guard break button NOT when the enemy starts guardbreaking, but when the shield icon is about to appear on your character.
You can also just throw a light attack at your enemy the moment he initiates a guardbreak. Think of it like rock paper scissors, but with block, attack and guardbreak. Block beats attack, attack beats guardbreak, guardbreak beats block.
Or dodge it. The guardbreak has a lower range than attacks so if you’re not standing right in front of your opponent, you should be able to dodge it. Getting the timing for that is hard.
