Overview
Small table with complete Far Cry 4 crafting data in PNG or Excel format.
What is that for?
So you won’t have to open your browser to look at some online guide and scroll through the pages.
Also, I’m offering you some advice on how to upgrade all your equipment very quickly from the very start of the game, scroll down and check it out, you might find it very useful, especially steps 6 and 10. 😉

How to use the table:
On the right you see different bags, pouches and belts, each one has 3 upgrade levels.
For example, you want to know what you need to upgrade your loot bag to level 1.
Choose this row from the table and go right until you see a number, then go up to see what animal you need to hunt. So you need 3 sambar skins. And so on – for loot bag level 2 you need 3 pig skins and for level 3 – 4 fish skins.
(Right below each animal name you can see the total number of its skins you will need for all upgrades. It is also very easy to know for which upgrades the skins of each animal are needed – you just go the opposite way – down, then left.)
Last upgrades (level 4) are described in the last orange column – name of the rare animal and type of a weapon you must use (to give you an opportunity to pick your favorite personally customized weapon of this category instead of the basic one on site); name of the outpost where this fashion week quest is located and its coordinates on the map.
How to upgrade all your equipment REALLY quickly:
There is a very quick way to obtain all predators’ skins and upgrade almost all of your bags to level 3 before even starting the campaign.
The secret is to find a spot on the map which is not associated with any particular predator. When you throw bait at such a spot, a random predator will spawn, so if you do it enough times you’ll eventually get all predators that exist in the game (except honey badger), even the snow leopard in Southern Kyrat.
[!] If you just want to know how to quickly and easily get show leopards (or any other predators) in Southern Kyrat, go directly to step 6 (check out step 10 as well, you might find it very useful ;).
1. Prologue (bharals):
During the prologue, if you collect all the money that’s lying around, loot all chests and enemy soldiers, you will have more than enough money to buy a recurve bow (60,000 Kr) right after you get to the Banapur village.
Also, at this point you should’ve had an opportunity to upgrade your wallet to level 1 and collect several bharal skins, 1 sambar skin and possibly couple of bear and show leopard skins during your journey from the crushed jeep to the bell tower.
2. Buy recurve bow in Banapur:
As I said, first thing you should do in Banapur is to sell all the junk in your loot bag (except animal skins*, green leaves and mom’s note) and buy a recurve bow (you should also buy marksman sight if you can afford it). Killing animals with a bow will award you with karma points and will let you to collect 2 skins from one animal. Also, recurve bow has better damage, accuracy and range than hunter bow (which you get for free) – you will need less shots to kill an animal.
* If you have more than 3 bharal skins, sell the rest, you will need only 3 for 2nd ammo pouch upgrade.
Here’s the map of the Banapur valley where I marked all animals you’ll need to hunt:
(Note that animals’ icons on the map do not always accurately reflect their locations)
3. Sambars, Honey Badgers:
Go east downhill from the village and use a zipline to get down to a T-junction where you can get 3 sambar skins to upgrade your loot bag to level 1:
If you already have 1 sambar skin, you will only need to kill one deer with your bow. Now you can finally add some room to your loot bag. If you want, you can stay around this spot a bit longer and hunt 3 more sambars to get 5 more skins for a 3rd level explosives bag upgrade, but you really don’t have to at this point.
At this exact spot you can also hunt 4 honey badgers to get 7 skins needed for all future upgrades, but again, you can do it later. The quickest and safest way to hunt badgers at this location is to jump on top of the small hut at the end of the zipline and throw baits near the hut. The badgers won’t get to you and you’ll need only 2 arrows to the head or 4 arrows to the body to kill a badger:
4. Wild Boars:
Fast travel back to Banapur, then take the northern road to get to the wild boar location* marked on the map above (near the lake to the west of the road). Hunt 2 boars to get 4 skins to upgrade your ammo and syringe pouches to level 1. Try to kill the boars instantly with headshots, otherwise they will run away and you’ll have to chase them to take a 2nd shot.
If you have 3 bharal skins in your bag, now is the time to use them to upgrade your ammo pouch to level 2.
* If you choose to perform step 5a (see below), you can save time by taking Amita’s quest before leaving Banapur to get the boars, you can hunt them on your way to the quest location.
5. Pigs (+ optional: Wolves or Bharals):
Now you need 2 pigs for 2nd loot bag upgrade and 1st arrow quiver upgrade.
You can choose between two options:
a) If you had enough bharal skins to be able to upgrade your ammo pouch to level 2, come back to Banapur and take Amita’s quest to clear a wolf den (just don’t leave before visiting a store to equip your recurve bow instead of the hunter bow Amita gave you). After you complete the quest, couple of pigs will spawn near the northern end of the hamlet, as shown on the map.
– OR –
b) If you still need some bharal skins for the ammo pouch upgrade, get to Khilana Bazaar outpost at the eastern edge of Banapur valley (see the map above). You will find pigs at the same location as bharals (around a small pond to the south of the outpost). BTW, on your half way there you can hunt Macaque monkeys and tapirs (see step 7); and also sambars and honey badgers, if you haven’t got all their skins already during step 3.
* Don’t forget at some point to take Sabal’s quest to liberate the radio tower – it will clear the fog from the map and unlock the grappling hook. Maybe convenient timing is after you get some wolf pelts for a holster upgrade, so you could carry a firearm in addition to your bow, but on the other hand you can easily neutralize tower guards with just a bow if you acquired basic proficiency with it.
6. Snow Leopards, Clouded Leopards, Wolves, Dholes, Tigers and Bears:
Fast travel back to Banapur, use obtained skins for all available upgrades and empty your bag from all unnecessary loot by selling it. Then exit the village along the southwest trail and reach the small house under the cliff (there will be Yalung mask under the bed, you can see its location on the map).
Jump on top of the small shed next to the house and start throwing baits and shooting every beast that comes. The most effective way is to shoot the predator in the head when it sits down and starts eating; it will instantly turn to you, snapping in a threatening pose and allowing you to send one or two more arrows to its head. You need a single headshot to kill dhole, wolf or clouded leopard; two headshots for tiger or snow leopard and three headshots to kill a bear. Once the predator is dead, jump down to collect your arrows, skins and meat for the bait, then jump back up to the roof of the shed and throw another bait. After some time you will have all predator skins needed for all upgrades:

Whenever the pile of animal corpses becomes too thick and/or your loot bag gets filled with too many unnecessary skins, fast travel back to Banapur and sell them. Just keep the skins you still need for remaining upgrades, you can always check numbers with my crafting table above (the most handy way is to open it on your phone).
If at this point you haven’t got yaks, rhinos and tapirs, after the massacre and selling excessive pelts you should end up with following skins:
3 dhole skins
5 tiger skins
5 bear skins
3 snow leopard skins
3 badger skins and 5 sambar skins (if you got them in advance during step 3)
7. Macaques, Tapirs:
Go down the zipline to the T-junction and collect badger and sambar skins you still need (if you haven’t got all of them during step 3; scroll up to this step to read my advice on how to safely and effectively hunt badgers at this location). Then go 200-300 meters to the east where you can hunt 2 Macaque monkeys and 4 tapirs to upgrade your weapon holster, wallet and syringe pouch.
8. Rhinos:
Here comes the most fun part of the plan – now is the time to get 6 rhino skins for your explosives bag and wallet. 😉
If you have Elephant Gun from Gold edition or DLC, you will need just a single headshot to kill a rhino with it. If you don’t, try to use mounted machine gun near Longinus house (look for the letter “L” in the bottom right corner of the map above) or pick AK‑47 from dead rebel or royal soldier. You can try to snipe a rhino from a distance with your bow, but be prepared to spend a lot of arrows. Personally, I’ve killed rhinos with just a knife, using trees for protection. You can try to do the same, you will have a LOT of fun. 😉
9. Demon Fish:
Get down to the big lake to the southeast of Banapur, hop on a boat, scan the water with your camera to tag Demon fishes around you and shoot two of them with your bow (one arrow to the head or two to the body will kill a fish). This way you get 4 Demon fish skins required for the 3rd level loot bag upgrade.
10. Yaks (+ secret bonus weapon):
Now the only skins you need to get for the upgrade of two last bags are 5 yak skins. There are no yaks in Banapur valley and you can’t make them spawn by throwing bait like you did with predators, so you will have to complete Act 1.
After liberating Khilana Bazaar outpost and the following cut scene with Amita, take the Hostage Rescue quest at the outpost – there will be 2 yaks wondering around the location of that quest. One arrow to the head + one to the body (or three to the body) is enough to kill a yak. Use two of their skins to upgrade your throwables bag and to finally utilize dhole and tiger skins you’ve been carrying in your bag.
Now you need only 1 more yak skin for your baits bag upgrade. I suggest you get it at the farthest place you can think of, but believe me, this 3 minute flight across the entire Southern Kyrat is totally worth it!
Open the map and find a bell tower in the northeast corner of Southern Kyrat, to the northwest of the bridge (to see the bridge on the map, you must buy Mid-Kyrat locations map):
When you approach this bell tower (it’s about 3 km from Khilana Bazaar outpost), it will be to the left of the bridge:
You can land your helicopter on top of the mountain, just don’t get too close to the tower to avoid being spotted by the guards. This is the only tower in Southern Kyrat that’s guarded by an elite Royal guards armed with P-416 rifles and most importantly, Z93 sniper rifles. It is truly a game-changing weapon – this .50 cal sniper rifle can be equipped with suppressor and enhanced scope (which has even greater magnification than high power scope) and can take down a rhino or heavy gunner with a single bullet to the head. To be able to get weapon like this in such an early stage of the game is a pretty big deal.
There will be two snipers guarding eastern and western cliffs, neutralize one of them and get your rifle:
Sometimes, only one of the snipers spawn or even none of them spawn at all; also, when you kill a sniper, his rifle might fall down from the cliff out of your reach. If something like this prevents you from getting Z93 rifle, kill yourself by jumping from the cliff or by letting one of the remaining guards shoot you to death, or provoke yaks to butt you repeatedly. This way you reset the tower so that all guards around it will respawn. You will respawn at the foot of the mountain; swing your way back with grappling hook and climb to the base of the tower from the underground tunnel marked by fallen bell:
Just remember not to liberate the tower before you get the sniper rifle, the guards won’t respawn if you kill yourself after the tower is liberated.
There is always a herd of yaks to the west of the tower. Kill one of them, use its skin + 2 yak skins and 5 bear skins in your bag and you will be finally done with level 3 upgrades of all pieces of your equipment. All that’s left is to unlock Fashion Week quests to obtain rare skins needed for level 4 upgrades.
How to quickly unlock Fashion Week quests
The outpost you will need to liberate in order to unlock Fashion Week quests is Kyra Tea Weigh Station at X:345.3, Y:380.4. Once you conquer it, you’ll be invited to visit Mr. Mumu Chiffon at his house to the northwest of the outpost:
After your visit Mr. Chiffon, first Fashion Week quest will appear at Kyra Tea Weigh Station outpost. I really suggest you take it right away – completing this quest will unlock one‑handed M‑79 grenade launcher, which is a REALLY handy weapon to use with a helicopter.
You can also increase your carrying capacity up to 50 M‑79 grenades if you liberate Shanath Breeders Outpost at X:378.0, Y:575.0 and complete Fashion Week quest at that outpost.
Last word
