Overview
In this Guide, I will be explaining everything a new player should know before starting up the game for the first time
Introduction
This guide is to educate people on what to expect before playing the game.
This is in no way an attempt to aim people away or to this game.
The following information is for educational purposes only.
The Basics
The basics:
Heroes and Generals is a WWII first person shooter. Unlike Call of Duty, H&G has a semi realistic health and firearm system. Running into the open may get you killed. Running into a room without checking corners may get you killed. Peaking out of Windows may get you killed. Everything you do may get you killed in one way or another. The player will need to have situational awareness in order to succeed in this game.
The UI
This screen is what you will see when logging in for the first time. I will explain what each part is.
Yellow left side: All owned troops. The little arrows at the top are to browse each nation
Blue top right: The players level and money
Pink bottom: The players in your squad and the squad options
Light blue right: The next easy unlocks for your player
Orange left middle: Your inventory (you will have less when you start) You will only have 3 slots unless you pay for the “Veteran” bonus.
The icons above each gun from left to right are: Bullet type, Sight mods, Trigger mods, Spring mods, barrel mods, paint mods. The eye icon is to see stats and the Wrench icon to see how damaged your gun is. Below the wrench are bubbles, these bubbles are how much space an item take out of you total.
Red middle right: The store with the gun costs and the ribbon needed to unlock. The eye icon will show you the gun and its damage.
Purple top middles: Tabs to cycle through your inventory and the store.
Green bottom right: Matchmaking
Match Making
This is what the player will see when trying to find a match:
Blue: Each game mode. Encounter is the most basic, War is the most advanced
Green: Maps for selected game mode.
Purple: the check boxes are so you can check off more then one game mode/map
Red: Matchmaking quality: Gold being higher levels and bronze being new players
Tips
No Nation is best, each have their own strengths and weaknesses. The only nation advantage I can see is that Germans seem to find games faster.
Running and gunning is not the way to go, at least not with a rifle. Take your time and play smart.
The game makes you repair weapons and ammo so don’t waste ammo in battle.
Don’t waste in game money on uniforms, spend real money on those if you’re going to spend real money at all.
Upgrades are expensive, as well as new gear. Play Assault Game modes to earn more money.
Play objectively, you get more points and cash this way.
Have fun and happy hunting.
