SHORT/BASIC NEW PLAYER HINTS everyone should know who wants to play COOP

Overview

This guide will give you a small amount of basic infos to get you started for random coop play without annoying your fellow teammates on the first corner.

General

Take a look on the right side for the contents, these tell you the basic infos you need to know for the game to play the coop multiplayer mode in COOP style!
Or just scroll down and read each HEADLINE the sections below just descripe why i find this a crucial part of your coop experience/behaviour.

DO NOT DESTROY FOOD/POTIONS unless everyone is full on health/pots

When using chars that tend to move around a lot while doing damage, Whirlwind on Warrior, ForwardSlash on Valkyrie, Fireball/ChainLightning on Wizard try to avoid fighting near food or potions as you might destroy it by accident when using your AreaOfEffect attacks. If attacking a spawner then stay on the far side of food/pots.
The reason behind this is simple:
When done fighting that passage some might have taken damage and would need to replenish health… which you might have destroyed.
When fighting tougher or swarms of enemies that potion you destroyed 2 corners back could have saved you and your team the day.

DO NOT TAKE FOOD/POTIONS/KEYS/CROWN as soon as you see them

Don’t just rush out and take everything you see on the screen this also includes the crown!
Observe your team on the bottom area of your screen:

  1. Is there anyone with low health?
Leave food to the player with the lowest health level this will ensure your team has the best fighting power when needed even when you are not at full health it is often more adviseable to give food to a player who has 1% health left!
  2. Is there anyone with a relic already? An icon left or right of the main attack.
Leave potions to this player!!! You have NO advantage in taking potions as long as you do not havy ANY relic, you just block your team from gaining advantage.
  3. Do not take each and every key you see!
Some players might have run through the dungeon you are currently playing with your team and maybe he knows some secrets about keys like not opening the left door but the right one. Leave keys to others as it does not matter who has the key just who openes which door with the available keys. On the other hand if you know that one secret (labyrinth, 5 keys left) or other where you should keep a special amount of keys then go for the key to ensure the bonus area will be reached.

The Crown might seem to look cool and also give a bonus to the endgame score calculation but rushing for the Crown as soon as it shows up is mostly the worst idea as you will often just die by trying to get it. Either wait and kill your way or just leave the Crown to your teammate because it doesn’t matter in the beginning anyways!

DO NOT DESTROY BARRELS when you come across them

Barrels almost always unlock a secret area and thus are needed to reach it.
Some spots have a respawning barrel which can be recognized by a circle below the barrel while other spots do not have such a convienient respawn spot and thus players need to pay attention not destroying the barrels too soon.

DO NOT HAMMER THE BOSS when there is no health bar displayed on top screen

The bosses are ONLY vulnerable when there is a big red healthbar displayed on top of the screen!
The three spots to attack on each boss (spoiler free):

  1. Stand on the spots until it’s filled then hammer the center. Repeat until death.
  2. Hammer it only while healthbar is displayed. In your spare time drink coffee.
  3. Find the right clone and hammer it to death.

AIM FOR THE SPAWNER/CASTER but don’t get yourself surrounded

It’s most adviseable to kill the monster spawners first once they pop up before doing anything else!
Caster and ranged units should be your 2nd priority targets because in general you can just run in large circles to avoid the normal monsters.
The spawner brings new enemies every couple of seconds and the casters/ranged will try to take you out from afar.

PLAY AS A TEAM – PLAY YOUR CLASS and don’t go melee as an elf

The four classes have some arbitary settings for their use:

  • Warrior
Melee anyone? Keep punching keep punching and don’t forget to keep punching!

    • They punch, they attack, they roam around they are like your Mobile Infantery so be everywhere where you are needed
  • Valkyrie
Defensive or Tank unit which often gets used as a blocker in front of Mage and Elf while they hammer the enemy from behind. The Shield is blocking every enemy while you do not block your friend’s attack from behind you. You might get a smaller amount of points but your contribution to the team makes more then up for it!

    • Use your shield and position yourself in between the enemy hordes and your Elf/Wizard to defend them.
  • Wizard
Depending on the prefered skills the Wizard is either a melee (Shield/Lightning) or a ranged (Firebolt/Fireball) so play it accordingly.

    • Stay at range, stay behind your team
  • Elf
The classical ranged unit which might go head to head to drop a surprise and then roll out for the boom.

    • Stay at range, stay behind your team
