Ah Muzen Cab – The Shredder | Guide

Overview

I am diamond AMC + 400 (not meaning to show off), and I reckon I’ve jsut about learned how to play him, so here it is

What is an Ah Muzen Cab?

Right so if you don’t yet know what AMC is, or why should play him, here’s a quick run down of what he can do.
Ah Muzen Cab can reach maximum attack speed easily, while still keeping damage up. He has the best chase out of any hunter, without spells (in my opinion).
He is a BALANCED God, making him useless in 90% of situations.
He doesn’t know what towers are he literally walks near them and they die.
He has some of the best sustain possible with his 1st ability, which means he can farm well.
He has one of the worst ultimates in the game come late game, however it’s kinda juicy early game.

He is very fun, but can be countered easily due to his awful health and strong reliance on bees.

Abilities:

AMC, unlike other hunters, doesn’t rely heavily on his abilities during a fight, other than having his 1 placed somewhere for taking on tanks / other hunters.

Passive (bees!): As passives go, this one is fairly good, allowing you to disarm enemies (for 1s) as long as they have bees on them for 4 seconds. Any damaging ability will apply bees for about 2 seconds, and basic attacks will refresh the timer. This means that hitting an enemy with an ability before a fight will almost guarantee a disarm ealry on in the fight, which can be enough to build a huge damage lead on them, causing them to run in fear or give up.

Beehive: This ability gives Amu some nice attack speed and movement speed, and a small amount of health regen, however this drops off fast. The hives are magic immune, and cannot be killed with the aoe from golden bow, however successful basic attacks on hives won’t break fatalis’ buff. Use this when running away to block a single hit from anyone without fatalis, as it can be enough to escape a frostbound hammer, or get enough out of range to survive. The movespeed will help with this too. It is important to note that the buffs won’t affect teammates, only AMC. Protect hives by placing them behind cover then playing within their range when possible.

Swarm of bees: This ability does a small amount of damage to enemis in a line, but it moves almost as slowly as Isis’ stun, so can be dodged fairly easily. Use it to deal damage to minions if you need to clear them fast, or throw it through a wall and hope you can snipe someone, dealing DOT damage to them, possibly killing them. It is also good initiation into a boxing match, as you will only have to hit them 2-3 times to get the disarm. This ability costs a fairly sizable amount of mana so use it sparingly.

Honey: This ability will apply a fairly decent slow of up to 25% on targets, and apply bees. It will only apply bees if a part of it is within range of hives, or if you hit it with your 2nd. lay it at your feet as you run for some kind of weird napalm slow to escape fights, or on enemies before a fight to prepare for the disarm. Only a small amount has to be in range of the hives, so cast it on the edge fo a hive’s range to get maximum distance. Pressing 3 once will by default stretch out Amu’s hand before laying honey, allowing enemies to see when you’re about to cast. This can cause them to get a sucessful dodge, losing a fight, or baiting a roll/ jump from someone like Rama.

Stinger slinger (ult thing): I don’t remeber this thing’s name but this one sounds chill. It’s one of the most balanced ults in the game, so obviously it’s complete trash. It’s designed to be a huge single-target nuke, but Hi-Rez understand that an ability that one shots is broken (or so they claim), so it does fairly awful damage late game, but the cripple and disarm help with boxing, and if you win the fight, you only have a 20 second cooldown, which is good in ranked joust, and sometimes useful in conquest, but still worse than kukul’s 1… cos logic.

Something like that I keep forgetting which levels you can level ult on >.< but level it whenever you can, because you wanan snipe people early and mid game as much as you can, cos that’s the time it’s best in

For different gamemodes: For games with a lot of farming (Joust, conquest, seige) max out your beehives fast, and only put a value point in your 3, just so it’s there. For gamemodes of the day with large gold and low levels, max out honey and swarm, with only occasional points in hives. Max out hives in assault too, because regen is so good in that gamemode

Item build:

I personally build AMC different to most other hunters, to play upon his ability as a shredder.
With so many different gamemodes I’ll cover a general build, then go back and explain which items to change around for different gamemodes.

General Build:
Starter:
Death’s toll + spiked gauntles + mana pot. This will give you some fairly decent health, getting you 9 health per hit at the start of a joust (ranked or otherwise), 13 in an assault, and 8 in a conquest. Death’s toll also means you build mana back up, and with your above average attack speed you can out left click most gods already, until they buy something decent.
Now rush your lifesteal item, followed by boots. I choose to build Devourer’s and Ninja tabi, to get power and attack speed, as this will increase your attack speed under a beehive 4% more than it would do without ninja tabi, which already leaves you at 148% attack speed, which is kinda crazy considering you can have enough lifesteal to dodge hide of the nemean a bit, and still increase your physical power by a large amount. Some people choose to go warrior tabi + soul eater, for the bonus health, and a small amount more physical power, but you lose out on 6% attack speed (under hive), and the lesser lifesteal can get you outboxed fairly easily.
Now to get the main part of your damage: crit items. Amu’s insane attack speed means rge + deathbringer was almost built for him, and you can land several crits per second, each doing about 500 damage late game. that’s how to shred tanks. even Xing Tian can’t outbox you now… and anyone thinks they’re escaping? honey + hive gives you stupid chase, so you will begin to snowball around this point.
In case you’re up against a lot of people with escapes, and you feel like they’re mugging you right off a bit, then get fatalis here, so when they jump you’re still moving over 200% move speed and meet them at the floor, ready to destroy them. it almost means you can run rings around people, and shred all the sides of them equally. You now have some of the best single target damage in the game, over a larger amount of time, not bursts of power like arachne/ awilix.
It’s now time to sell your death’s toll and buy the final item, the most customisable one. I rarely sell toll before now, as the extra lifesteal helps outbox and is easliy worth more than the 400g you get from selling it. You can get a variety of things here, depending on how you like to play, but I like to get Hide of the Nemean lion if you’re up against other hunters a lot, or sometimes a froustbound hammer if I’m feeling cheeky. This means thigns just don’t move around you, and you destroy them with your w/s+m1. My most bought is however Titan’s bane, for killing objectives and tanks just that little bit faster.

now to see how to change them per gamemode:
arena: you’re not spending forever farming, so lose the mana pot and the death’s toll, and in most cases the devourer’s, as the mage on your team will be stealing all the last hits. Instead I’d go bloodforge + ninja tabi, or soul eater + Warrior’s if you have more physical damage on your team. the rest of the build stands, but I’d probably go Nemean as a definate last if they have any physical damage dealers / adc’s.
Joust: Keep that build as it is for joust, I use it mostly there, and it works in ranked or normal, but maybe change devourers for bloodforge if your mage is building stacks. also in ranked, I love to get golden bow instead of deathbringer, but I get it as soon as I have devourer’s. this means youcan waveclear a bit better, and don’t need to keep using mana on it. it also means you still hit peopel if they try to hide behind the archer dudes.
Conquest: I’d also get Golden Bow, but probably get boots first this time, so you can run to lane faster if you have to keep going back.
Assault: This gamemode is so different to the rest that it relly needs it’s own guide, but pretty much take boots out of the build till your last item or so, and start off with Soul Eater + lv 3 salvation, then pots if you need them. then build whatever you feel is neccessary for the game.

Here is the item build + damage stats. The items are arranged in the order I would buy them, with the exception of executioner (or whatever you build instead) which would be built last, but I bought death’s toll because I was sleepy ;-;

p.s ( I have 1 stack of rage which is why crit chance is 50% and not 40%, but could potentially go up to 70% with full stacks, and 90% with a deathbringer instead of exe)

Hive placement:

A lot of this you have to learn through experiance, but with only a 16-12 second cooldown don’t be scared to experiment with cool hive placements, but here are some screenshots that (I hope) clearly show where the main hives should be placed on a joust map, missing out any you need for camps other than attack speed / mana, and ones placed by their tower / phoenix. But these are disposable hives and will often be destroyed in seconds. For pheonix try to hide the hive behind the left wall, as it is harder to see from under phoenix than one placed on the right side.

This image shows the hive placed by the phoenix on your side. it can be placed behind the pheonix if they are ranged, or really agressive and have been smashing up hives all game. but if you can place it forwards do, as this means you can keep the buffs for longer when running back to pheonix, or harrassing them away. if you have more than 30 seconds before the game starts by the time you get to this spot, then place a hive immediately, but if there is less than that I would reccomend not placing it, as you will need to place another before the start of the game and you want the hive off cooldown whe nthe game starts in case of an invade / you see them struggling to take a damage camp near you.

This hive is crucial to your early game, as without it you will take considerable damage taking the camps, and the work will be slow, which is never a good thing, especially if they are a good wave clearer like any mage in the game, or neith. This placement also gives you the regen and move speed all the way to phoenix, which gives around 30 health, which is kind of useful, and cuts about 2-3 seconds of the time, which becomes surprisingly huge at higher levels.

Now this one seems simple, but as it one of the core hives I thought I’d include it anyways. Like the pheonix one, make sure to place it behind tower if they play very agressively, and play within its boundaries when possible.

This is actually 2 hives in one, the major one is the one in focus, which will allow you to play very agressively whilest staying safe against non-wave clearers like rama or some other potato feeder you encounter on your journey to masters 1. The other hive, in the background, can take the place of the hivee at purple buff, if you choose to take damage camp first, which isn’t a bad idea, but leaves you too close for my comfort zone, so it’s not something I’d do often. The fact it is behind the rock means it will give you the buff to kill damage camp, and let you run into lane faster. Try to lean it slightly to one side so you get the buff while moving AROUND the rock if you’re feeling super tryhardy ;}

Friends and enemies of AMC

Everyone loves Amu, but some Gods work very well with him, and some don’t. People who have stuns and slows work well with him, as he has no stuns of his own ;-; this means most guardians help him, but Ymir is especially good, as well as Kehpri.
Mercury lategame is bare fast and his damage doesn’t give Amu enough chance to lifesteal to survive, and can often kill him easily.

If you read all this then well done, it’s way too long but I like Amu and there’s a lot to say about him. If you want a better lategame hunter just go medusa she’s almost a direct upgrade to amu for no reason at all
