Aura Kingdom References (READ. UPDATE)

This guide is currently on haitus since I work on other game guides now. Plus, I'm getting bored of the game...

So I'm turning this into a community contribution guide. Here are the requirements that need to be added:

-The reference
-The source
-Type of reference (Achievement, Monster, Quest, etc)
-Proof (makes it faster, but not needed as I can look for it(which makes it slower)

Remember, you'll be credited.

Ace Boast, Coast to Coast - This is an achievement for winning 20 Random Duels with the Card Game. This name is a nod to the cartoon-reality talk show called "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast," starring Space Ghost (a superhero in an old cartoon series) by HannaBarbara.

Ronin

• The combo move "Midnight Cherry Blossoms" is a reference to the character Byakuya Kuchiki's Senbonzakura, a special attack, from a popular anime called "Bleach".
  
• The move "Iaido," "Soul Storm," and "Soul Blade" are also references to the character Ichigo and his move "Getsuga Tensho" from the anime "Bleach." Even the sword's blue aura references to Ichigo's sword when using Soul Storm.

Grass Kingdom
The members of the Grass Kingdom you see commonly in Fame Quests and the Aura Kingdom Quiz are Zinnia, Yeshe, Cole, Moe, and Rehia. If you maneuver the mouse a bit and look behind their coverings, there are icons on their bottom. Zinnia has an angelic icon, Yeshe has a fist, Cole has a corn cob, Moe has a chili pepper, and Rehia has a crab.

Fishing Family
Available at a certain season, there is a daily quest called "Memorable Cuisine," as you help Daisy create a dish that her father used to make. Daisy says that her father is still alive, regardless of what other's say about his ship being sunk and he died. While listening to conversations between Younger Sister Lily and Older Sister Illia, the Older Sister mentions that their dad is out to catch a big fish (which is a good chance that it is the Fish King of Port Skandia). During the Fish King spawn in Port Skandia, an npc appears called the Mysterious Fisherman in a small area that will take you to the fishing area to catch the Fish King. There is little evidence that Daisy could be related to the Mysterious Fisherman, as Daisy appears outside of Port Skandia and looks somewhat poor. However, there is much more evidence between the sisters who are conversing to be related to the Mysterious Fisherman.

Moonlight Rabbit Tribe
If you take a look on the backs of the Moonlight Rabbits, you'll notice there are shadowy parts of the fur that are shaped like a crescent moon with a star inside it.

Alucard
Alucard is "Dracula" spelled backwards. In some works Alucard is used being the son of Dracula or an alias used by Dracula. Dracula was created by Bram Stoker from the United Kingdom in 1897.

Aelius
Most of Aelius's lines and dialogue is a direct reference to the character "Solaire" from the famous PC video game in North America "Dark Souls."

Astraea
Astraea's appearance is based on an angelic appearance of a Valkyrie in Norse Mythology, who choose people that die or live in battle. In the Taiwan version, her name is Athena, who is the goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, and many other things in Greek Mythology.

Bel-Chandra
Bel-Chandra's design is based on the Esper "Mateus" from Final Fantasy XII, a famous long-lasting RPG series made in Japan by Squaresoft and Square Enix.

Cesela and Serena
Cesela and Serena's design are based on an East Asian Folklore "Moon Rabbit" or "Rabbit on the Moon." In the Buddhist tale, an old man was hungry and a rabbit offered his body to feed him. While he was being cooked, he did not burn. The old man revealed himself to be Sakra, a deity, and was touched by the rabbit's virtue. He drew the rabbit's image on the moon for all to see. There are different versions of the story (Mesoamerican, Mexican, and Native American.) with some differences. In the Mesoamerican version, it is different, as one of the gods just threw a rabbit to the moon to diminish the light because the moon was bright. In the Mexican version, which is similar to the Buddhist tale, the god Quetzalcoatl raised the rabbit up and back down to Earth; saying that the rabbit's image will be there for all time. In the Native American version, there was a rabbit that wished to ride on the moon. A crane(bird) took him there and he left a red mark from his bloody paw on the crane's head that they wear today.

Cleopawtra
Cleopawtra is based on the last female Pharoah of Egypt and the last Pharoah of Egypt named Cleopatra VII Philopator. Cleopatra was smuggled in secretly with her intent to take advantage of Julius Caesar's anger against Ptomlemy XIII, Cleo's husband, brother, and joint-ruler. Cleopatra ended up being Julius Caesar's mistress and had a child together.

Grimm
One of Grimm's costume, "Night Fury Grimm," is based on the dragon Toothless from the famous animated movie in America by Dreamworks "How to Train your Dragon." Toothless is part of a dragon species called "Night Furies," which have very dark skin and bright eyes.

Kaiser Zeta
Kaiser Zeta's name in the Taiwan Version (Fantasy Frontier) is Icarus. Icarus is based on the Greek Mythology. The story of Icarus is that he and his father, Daedulus, were in King Mino's prison and they worked for him. They managed to escape by making makeshift wings. However, They could not fly close to the sun or close to the water. Icarus was attracted to the sun and flew to it. However, his wings fell apart and he died. This is where Kaiser Zeta's desires were to fly to the sun, and mentions that he was created by Daedulus. Shirayuki mentions that Kaiser Zeta wanted to teach people the powerful way of combining, which is a reference to some Japan Robot Animes (like "Voltron" or the American show "Power Rangers") where some shows robots combining into one gigantic robot.

Kusanagi
Kusanagi gets her name from the legendary Japanese sword called "Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi," which is one of the three imperial regalia in Japan. The name means "Grass-cutting Sword."

Merrilee
Merrilee's third star form turns her hair into a teal color and a different outfit, making her look similiar to Miku Hatsune from "Vocaloid," a voice synthesizer program. She even references her when you talk to her, saying she knows a famous singer and if you would like to hear herself sing.

Shirayuki
Shirayuki is based on a japanese mythological spirit called the Yuki-onna (meaning snow woman in english). Some legends portray the Yuki-onna as a malicious spirit and agressive. Some legends also portray her as just as a ghost-like nature with beauty and leads them astray. Both lure victims into the cold to freeze to death. However, talking to Shirayuki, she regrets people looking for her in the cold weather and does not want them to freeze to death. This could lead the one that Aura Kingdom created the one that was not malicious and agressive.

Tigerius Caesar
Tigerius Caesar is based on a famous Roman General and Consul named Gaius Julius Caesar. He is well known for his powerful army. He has conquered many kingdoms and had a relationship with Cleopatra. When talking to Tigerius Caesar, he will tell you that the only kingdom he hasn't conquered is in the desert. There is a good chance that he meant Cleopawtra's kingdom. In history, Julius Caesar restored Cleopatra's rule on the throne of Egypt (after conquering it first himself).

Vermilion
Vermilion is a humanoid-based form of the famous Greek Mythology creature called the Phoenix. The Phoenix is famously symbolized as "renewal," as dying and turning into ashes, only to be reborn once again.

Skyforged Darklight Blades
The Skyforged Darklight Blades, a Costume Weapon for Duelists, is a direct reference to Kirito's swords from the anime and online game "Sword Art Online."

Star Explosion Tachi
The Star Explosion Tachi, a Costume Weapon for Ronin, is a reference to the famous franchise in North America called "Star Wars." In the show, Jedis weild Light Sabers, a weapon which looks like a laser in sword form.

-Occassionally in the Aura Kingdom Quiz, you may see false questions which have the "take an arrow to the knee" in the sentence. This is a reference to the famous meme from the famous PC video game "The Elder Scrolls Skyrim V." Over the story, you come across an NPC and speaks the words "I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee."
-Caine, an NPC, mentions the term "rascally rabbits." This could be a reference to what Elmer Fudd says from Looney Tunes, a classic American Cartoon series.

Diablu Hellfire
In the beginning sequence, the third demon commander you have to kill is called Diablu Hellfire. This could be a reference to the Diablo series where the main villain is the demon Diablo.

<Iron Beast> Stark
In Dimensional Hall 65+, there is a boss monster named <Iron Beast> Stark. This is a reference to Marvel's "Iron Man," where the hero's real name is Tony Stark.

<Polar Siren> Ursula
In Dimensional Hall 65+, there is a boss monster named <Polar Siren> Ursula. This could be a character reference to the villain "Ursula" from the Disney animated film "The Little Mermaid," as Ursula uses Ariel's voice to hypnotize Prince Eric, who Ariel loves. Sirens are also Greek Mythology creatures, who disguise as females and lure sailors who are passing by with their voice and music.

<Ocean Musician> Sebastian
In Dimensional Hall 20+, there is a boss monster named <Ocean Musician> Sebastian. This is a character reference to the Disney animated film "The Little Mermaid."

Barbie and Kenny
In Port Skandia, there is a pair of npcs that you can listen onto a conversation. They are named Barbie and Kenny. This is based on the doll series "Barbie" made by the American toy company, Mattel, and Kenny is based on "Ken" who is a popular male doll in the Barbie series.

Fat Man Paul
In Cactakara Forest, there is a npc named Fat Man Paul. The look and name is a reference to Chef Paul Prudhomme, a famous chef that was born in Louisiana, USA.

Hermoin
In the Triatio Highlands during the Main Quest storyline, there is an npc named Hermoin who assists you with the entrance to Deep's Cavern. She even says she knows a little sorcery, but only a beginner. This could be a reference to the famous novel series "Harry Potter," who is written by J.K. Rowling in Europe.

Investigator Charlie
There is an npc named Charlie in Candeo Marsh, who really loves unicorns. This could be a reference to the famous flash video "Charlie the Unicorn." However, this is just a name reference or simply a coinceidence, as the NPC Charlie and other unicorns do not act like their characters from the flash video.

Moe
Moe's costume is a direct reference to Marvel's "Iron Man," who is a famous comicbook superhero.

Romeo and Juliet
Over the course of your journey, you come across the couple Romeo and Juliet, who are always so lovey dovey to each other. These npcs are based on the famous tragedy play by William Shakespeare called "Romeo and Juliet." In the play, their families are in a constant fued with one another and are forbidden to meet eachother, but manage to sneak by. The story ends in a tragedy where Romeo kills himself by drinking a potion, thinking that Juliet is dead, but she was actually in a coma. Juliet ends up stabbing herself in the heart. Both families, mourning them, ended the fued. So far in Aura Kingdom, the only violent thing that has happened was Romeo was beaten in Star Sand Desert. Whether the npcs will match the end of the real story is unknown at this time.

Saint Nicolas
During the Christmas Season, there is an npc named Saint Nicolas who gives a quest called "Arbor Day" (Ironically) to grow one of the three Holy Trees that are available. This is a direct reference to the Greek Christian Saint "Nicholas," which also inspires the holiday character "Santa Claus." Saint Nicholas was famous for his gift giving to the poor. In the Middle Ages, children were given gifts to honor Saint Nicholas. To avoid opposition on the celebration of Saint Nicholas on December 24 and 25, which were the days where there was opposition on the respect for saints, Saint Nicholas was changed to Santa Claus. The Holy Trees are a reference to Christmas Trees, which are traditionally put up by families around the world with decorations such as bulbs, figurines, garland, and lights. Most Christmas Trees are adorned with a star or angel, to symbolize that Jesus Christ was born (as Christmas is celebrated by religious people for Christ's birth). The quest name "Arbor Day" is based on the same holiday, where people are encouraged to care and protect trees.

Witch Hazel
Whether it was intentional or a coinceidence, Witch Hazel (an npc you meet in Demarech Mines), could be based on the "Looney Toons" (a popular American cartoon back then) character who is named "Witch Hazel." However, the npc doesn't really act like her character from Looney Toons, so it's either a namesake reference or a coinceidence.

Young Girl and Jareth
There is a conversation in Demarech Mines between Young Girl and Jareth. "You remind me of the babe," "What babe?", "The babe with the power." This is a reference to the 1986 British-American film called "Labyrinth," which was directed by Jim Henson and starred David Bowie, who is a famous 80s singer. Jareth is a character reference to the villain "Jareth", who is the goblin king in the movie.

Deja Vu
Name is a reference to the Initial D album.

Dream of the ocean blue
In Helonia Coast, there is an NPC called "Ralph" and has the Hidden Daily quest "Dream of the ocean blue." He needs a conch to pull his crew together. This is a reference to "The Lord of the Flies," a novel made by William Golding from the United Kingdom.

Iron Man
In Cactakara Forest's village of Brevis, there is an NPC named Stark. After finding the Full Body Armor for him, he creates "Iron Gear" to try and make him superhuman. This is a reference to Marvel's "Iron Man", a famous comicbook superhero. Stark is a reference to Iron Man's identity, Tony Stark. The achievement for completing this quest is even titled "Iron Man."

My Precious
In Crescent Hill, Gruff's dialogue is a reference to Golum of "Lord of the Rings," a famous novel in North America. He mentions his precious treasure. The reward he gives you after the quest is a Mudane Ring. This references "The Ring" from the Lord of the Rings series, a powerful item which Golum desperately seeks for.

Ninja Turtles
The hidden quests "Ninja Turtles" and "Former Glory" are based on the classic comicbook and cartoon classic "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," which was created in America by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Sterling is based on Splinter, a rat ninja teacher who raised four turtles with the art of ninjutsu. In the "Ninja Turtles" quest, you have to catch turtles for Sterling, who wants companions. Those turtles you catch ended up being "Teenage Turtles." In "Former Glory" quest, you find a Rusty Sword and bring it to Merrill. Merrill mentions that Sterling had a past of being one of the best warriors as he restores the sword. Bringing the Restored Sword to Sterling, he confirms of what Merrill said, but now just wants to live in peace.

Puppet Master
Name is a reference to Metallica's album and song.

Rice Cake Crisis
One of Mirabelle's Emergency Quests is called "Rice Cake Crisis." This is a reference to the "Rabbit on the Moon" folklore of Japan, where rabbits pound rice to make rice cakes.

Souls of Steel
The fame quest "Souls of Steel" is a direct reference to the Megaman/Rockman series made by the game company "CAPCOM." In the video game, Megaman (Japanese version is Rockman) defeats robots and obtains their powers to enhance himself. In the quest, you play as Rockman and obtain two powers at two checkpoints.

Stairway to Heaven
Name is based on the Led Zeppelin song.

Taming the Beast
There is a hidden quest in Demarech Mines where you are supposed to catch an Armored Lion by using the Rugged Bag found directly south of the Miner's Steppe entrance in a Box. Once you catch and bring the Armored Lion to Hamilton, he will mention the sentence "It's super effective!" This is a reference to the "Pokemon" games, a famous Nintendo and Anime franchise, where using the appropriate attack against a Pokemon type deals a lot of damage.

Veggie Tales
The quest title "Lv25. Veggie Tales" is a direct reference to "Veggie Tales," a christian cartoon that caters to children who are in catholic school.

Welcoming Light
In Navea, there is a little girl named Wendy near a fountain that is selling matchsticks for 1 silver. This is based on Hans Christian Anderson's (a famous Danish Author) "The Little Match Girl." The story tells of a girl who needs to sell matchsticks because if she goes home, her father will beat her. She remembers her grandmother dearly as she lights a matchstick to keep her warm on the freezing winter street. She runs out of matchsticks and ends up dieing of hypothermia. The outcome is similiar in Navea, when lighting the matchstick, her grandmother takes her home (symbolizing taking her to heaven.) There is a very good possibility that Wendy was a ghost to begin with.
