Borderless + Mismatch Monitor Fix
Step 1 - Edit the Config
So to start with, we're going to have to disable full-screen in the config file.
You can find it by:- Going to your windows task bar
- Searching %appdata%
- Backing out of roaming and going to local
- Following the rest of the path being 4A Games > Metro 2033 > 1100001094eb779
Open the config file in any text editor and press CONTROL + F
Search for r_fullscreen and set it to off
Step 2 - Download and Input Special K
From here, you're going to need to download Special K.[github.com] It's safe, and we won't need all of it, just make sure you scroll down and grab the latest possible version and click on it to begin your download.
Once done, you're going to want to find your local files for Metro 2033:- Go to your steam library and right click Metro 2033 from the side tab.
- Mouse over manage and then click on "Browse Local files"
Now that you're here, extract the file "SpecialK64.dll" into the folder and rename it to "dxgi.dll".
Boot the game up again and close it back down once you're done and it should be all set up.
Step 3 - Edit SpecialK
One last thing to do and it's just a series of fixes to change within the new-found dxgi.ini file that SpecialK would've created. If you have windows default settings it'll be the file labeled dxgi with no .dll at the end of the filename.
Open it with your text editor like you did last time and use the CONTROL + F function to find and change the following values.
- Borderless=true
- Fullscreen=true
- Set OverrideRes=<Use_Your_Resolution_Here>
Save and exit when done and it should be working fine!
Step 4 - Any other issues.
This section has just some misc information and fixes + if anyone finds other issues to troubleshoot comment below and I'll update the guide. in the meantime, thank you for reading my guide and hope that helps some of you out!
-----
- So just incase you ran into changes not carrying over from the config or special k document, make sure you save after every edit.
- If you're like me and you ran into an issue where the bottom or side of the screen is distorting/tearing you may have a second monitor with an atypical resolution. The fix is easy enough, just go into the options menu ingame and change the resolution there down to 1080p or something more typical for SpecialK to read.
