Complete Beginner's Guide
Introduction
Controls
Running - (W/Forward, A/Left, S/Backwards, D/Right)
Jump - Space-bar
Melee/shooting - Left Mouse button
Block - Left Shift button
Special Attacks - Q button and E button
Reloading - R button
Flipping/Aerial - (flips your enemy in the air) - Right Mouse button
Switching weapons - Number keys (1-3) OR your mouse's scroll wheel- It can be considered entirely a preference, but I believe using the number keys is much quicker and easier.
These are the basic controls that you will be using for GunZ 2, you can rebind them to your fancy in the option menu, which can be opened by a button in the top right corner of the client.
Movement
Dashing: Dashing greatly increases your speed and mobility, a very essential mechanic in this game. If you want to be up to par with everyone else (in terms of speed, I'd say), dashing is crucial to catching your opponent, or even running away from him/her . To dash, simply double tap the movement key that is in conjunction with direction you want.
Faster jump dashing: There is a much quicker way of dashing by doing Dash>Jump(Very quickly)>Dash>Repeat.
Wall running: You probably have never done this in real life...but you can in GunZ 2! To wall run, face your character at a wall at a 45 degree angle and double tap the space button.
Continued wall running: Hit space while doing so and you will continue wall running.
Wall stabbing(Silent Avenger/Shadow Dancer/Gunslinger/Strider): Plunging your melee weapon into the wall, which lets you latch and lock. To do this, jump up against a wall, click and hold the right mouse button. You can release by right clicking again.
Wall acending: Go against a wall and double tap space. This will make your character vertically climb the wall.
Continued wall acending: Successively hit space in bursts and you will continue wall acending. However, I still recommend the faster wall acending method, it is much better than spamming your space button.
You can use these to move around places very quickly, and if you are creative, an advantage when battling other enemy players. Remember that movement is key in this game!
Movement: In Action
Combat
- Faster sniping - You will eventually come to figure out that this game does indeed have animation/delay cancelling. So heck, why not use it to our advantage? Sniper shots have a brief delay within the interval between each shot while scoped. To reduce this, quickly switch out of the sniper to a different weapon and then return to your sniper rifle, scope back in and prepare another bullet. This is especially useful when you have a target who is on the move and is at risk from going out of your sight.

Tips
- Don't be overwhelmed: If you haven't played games like this before, you may get overwhelmed by the fast paced action going on everywhere. But don't worry, you will get the hang of it eventually.
- Use all of your tricks: You have three weapons to slay your enemies, remember to use them. Using all of your weapons will make the game much more fluid for you and give a general insight on how they work.
- Always be on the move: Being a sitting duck in a gun/sword fight is esentially a death sentence.
- Keep a lookout for special/skill attacks: Some of them are very powerful and can even one shot you. Keep a lookout especially when the enemy characters are glowing a blue aura around them.
- Spend your gold wisely: Personally, I'd recommend buying another character first rather than using it in the store. This is to get a feel and familiarise yourself with a different play-style.
It can also be a breath of fresh air, as restricting yourself to playing a single character can eventually become tedious and boring.
- About the blocking: The guard mechanic blocks most melee and ranged attacks. However, when you are blocking a melee combo, the final hit will go through it and knock you over.
- Be defensive when at low health: Try going with a defensive approach when you are on low health. Refrain from melee and find a safe spot to use ranged attacks. You will want to get as many kills as possible before you die.
Note
Thank you for taking the time for reading my guide! I hope it gave you some knowledge on how the game works. I'll be continuing and expanding this over time, as I believe I can add a lot more to it, so it is still in the works.
But for now, please rate or favourite my guide if you enjoyed reading it. Comments (you can also ask me questions about the game) or feedback are greatly appreciated too.
