Comprehensive Guide on Move or Die Events + Unobtainable Items

The Secret Santa Shop can be accessed from the main menu on December 21st to January 4th
Inside the Secret Santa Shop you will be greeted with 3 options.
This first option lets you purchase up to 4 Familiars a day then you will need to wait 21 hours to be able to buy more, These familiars will be attached and follow your character around in-game. You only lose coins when you choose a character to attach it to.
Buying all 4 familiars will be 2000 Not-Coins and if you buy them all everyday until the event (15 days) is over, and it will be 30,000 Not-Coins total.
Getting all 4 Familiars on every character will take 12 years total as there is 171 characters total in the game, and the event only lasts 15 days, or getting a single familiar on every character will take 3 years as you can attach one Familiar to 60 characters during the event.
You can disable or toggle through your familiars with the new Seasonal Toggle option in the Not-A-Store. Characters that have familiars will also have a little icon on the top right of their character icon.
The Second option is to Bribe Santa for gifts Pay 300 coins for a guaranteed item that can't be a duplicate the items you get also seem to be a high chance of being a legendary or epic so its worth it in the long run as you will actually be getting more coins back if you get an epic or legendary because you can get the item as a duplicate when you level up which will give you more than 300 coins. Its Only worth it once a day when it costs 300 coins as the price will increase to 900, so just wait 21 hours for it to be 300 coins again.
The Third and Final option in the Secret Santa Shop is the Coal Exchanger Every time you lose a game (not round) you will get coal, returning to main menu will tell you how much coal you have earned that game. The best way to grind coal is by hosting a 1 Min Game Length Server with no Mutators. make sure to lose on purpose and have the other Online Player Win (can't be bots!) then ready up again and keep doing it 15 times so you can get 15 coal!. How the Coal exchanger works is like this: 0-4 common, 5-9 rare, 10-14 Epic, 15+ Coal is a guaranteed Legendary!

Every Halloween between October 26th and November 9th, Once per day play and win an online match and choose either to be Tricked or to be Treated.

Being Tricked will Trick a random Character that you currently have unlocked, and give them a Smoke trail and a Demon-Horns Outline (similar to flammable head but you can have both on at same time). These can be toggled off and on in the Not-A-Store Character section. Being Treated will give you a random item that you don't currently have unlocked, similar to bribing Santa with cookies.

Community Debt which was introduced in the 4 Year Adventure update[www.moveordiegame.com] is where the community gets together and can choose to take part in the Daily Contribution. The Daily Contribution is basically a Daily Challenge which is available everyday, the challenge is against 3 bots with a randomly selected Mutator for the whole challenge, excluding: Stabilizer, Ghostly Jumps, Turbo, Confusion, and Staller.
During the challenge you only play 6 game modes, which are always: Bomb Tag, Chainsaw Backstab, Color Craze, Falling Blocks, Rocket Run, and Fizzle Floor, and it goes on forever until you die.

The World Record for most Rounds is currently 129 Rounds from the top contributor __Idontknow__

During the daily challenge you will see Piggybanks, Diamonds, Credit Cards, and Money bags, floating around, these are money that you need to collect in order to help fill up the community debt bar, which will progress to the next reward.

All the money that you collect in your lifetime will also make your Daily Contribution Rank higher, and if you get it high enough you can join the Top #5 Contributors! Which rewards you with nothing.

If your just trying to beat the Daily Contribution Round World Record then you can ignore the floating money and try to survive as long as possible. Tip: Move and Die is the best Mutator to get.

Every time you take part in the Daily Contribution your luck will increase until it reaches 100%, what this means is that when the Debt-Bar fills up over a reward, you will get the reward guaranteed.
If you don't have 100% luck you can still get the item but you will need to re-roll it with coins if you don't get it, and if you miss the item then don't worry! as they will appear in the Not-A-Store after the current Community Debt is over, and if it was a Special item: emote wheel, Victory Confetti, or a Death Splatter, then it will appear in the Bid-War instead.

You can also spend coins to retry the daily challenge but it will increase in cost each time.

Bid wars are located in the Not-A-Store and every 6 hours there is a new item to bid on, you can bid with your Not-Coins to get the item but if someone out-bids you then you won't get it!

When Bidding you may notic a yellow bar that fills up, the bar represents your progress to getting a Lootbox, and every 1000 coins you will get a Lootbox and it will always reward you with a random item.
When you bid coins it will also increase your Global Rank and if you get your rank high enough then you will enter the Top Rainbow Elite which gives you an exclusive Rainbow effect on all your characters!
To currently reach rank #5 you will need to bid over 360,165 Not- Coins Total. The items in the Bid-War are all classified as special items and they can be toggled off and on in the Special section in the Not-A-Store once you obtain them.
These Items are always: Flammable Heads Orange and White, Emotes, Death Splatters, and Victory Confetti.

The Special items in the Bid-war are only obtainable through the Bid-War. The Bid-war also features Special items from past events and past Community Debts, this allows you to still get the items even though you missed the old Community Debt or Event.

Dead by Daylight Emotes aren't in Bid-Wars for some reason though, I think the Developers forgot :(

There are 3 Rank Types in this game, these are: Daily Contribution Rank, Bid-War Global Rank, and Global Rank. Daily Contribution Rank is earned by colleting as much money as possible in your lifetime, this just let people see your username in the top #5.
Bid-War Global Rank is earned by bidding Not-Coins in Bid-Wars, When you reach the top #5 rank you will then enter the top rainbow elite and get a special rainbow effect on all your characters.
Global Rank is earned by levelling up and being the highest level, This earns you a special rank plate by your username when you speak in Global chat (Global Chat was removed).

You can view these stats on the Move or Die Discord by typing !leaderboards Level and to view your own stats just type !stats (your steam id numbers)

A secret Legendary Character which is earned by playing with someone who is currently using it in your game.

Mawaka was a secret easter egg character that was only available to obtain a single day on August 13, 2021 and only around 100 people managed to get it, To obtain the skin you had to input a secret code on a website and it let you unlock this skin. This was Introduced in The Lost Treasure That Was Never Found Event. The Code was hidden in this video, Timestamps: 💀 2:00, 🍌 4:13, 🗝️ 8:24, 🔥13:31

Dead by daylight items unlocked randomly for everyone after playing online matches between June 23th - July 21st 2022 and also returned on the 25th of October 2022 by playing an online match between October 25th, 10 AM PDT - November 8th, 10 AM PDT. This event also changed the assets of certain gamemodes to fit the dead by daylight theme, it also included 2 brand new speedrun maps called ''Uppers'' and ''Downers'' where you would be chased by Blight while interacting with Generators to escape, these levels can still be played in the Editor but crash on the current version. It works on the depot below's editor: and if you change your system date and time to 24 June 2022 you will see the Dead by Daylight assets in Loot grab, Spikeball, and Radiation, which can also be viewed on the current version online but you might crash.

Unobtainable items are: Blight, Jenny, Huntress, Trapper, Scratches Trail, and Dead by daylight themed emote reel.

Can still obtain the Dead by Daylight Death Splatters from Bid-Wars.

These items were unlockable between June 29th, 10 AM PDT - July 13th, 10 AM PDT after playing online matches.

Unobtainable items: Cocktail Trail, ChillBill, Flo

Can still obtain the Sun Splatters from Bid-wars.

7 Year Anniversary Update

These items Could only be obtained by playing an online match between March 16th - April 13th

Unobtainable items: Old Zombi, Old Derpy Chicken, Old Count, Old Viking

Yellow Taxi goes Vroom Event

Event started on April 9th and ended on April 23rd, to get an item you had to win online matches, 5 total to get all the items.

Unobtainable Items, Taxi Character, Morio Character, Vroom Trail

Can still obtain Retro Coin confetti, and Gear Splatters from the Bid-Wars.

Current Daily Contribution September 6, 2023 - 2026

Unobtainable Items, Al Dente, icy Hot, Happy, Accuraptor, Forky, Fart Trail, Anger Trail, Atom Trail.

Can still obtain Cherry Blossom confetti, Zoomer Speak Emotes, Oroborous Splatters, Cave Drawings Emotes, and Egyptian ANKH Splatters from Bid-Wars.

Sometimes your game can rarely bug out and go through the dept bar again from the start to finish and let you obtain the rewards, you would need 100% luck or to get lucky with re-rolls though.
There's a message from a dev talking about this bug, ''Getting stuck in the Daily Contribution reward loop? If you haven't played in a while, the game will be taking you through the unlocks that've been unlocked so far. If you find that it's going into a loop and it's trying to repeatedly unlock items you've already gone through, please try going into %appdata%\LOVE\Move Or Die\ and delete the DCRewards file''.

It may be possible to repeat this bug, like installing the game on another device, having steam cloud disabled and then having it make you agree to the eula again steam, happened to my friend so idk.

Ways to possibly obtain Yellow Taxi and other fomo skins still?

This depot is when the yellow taxi event was added, after downloading the depot, you should then change your system date and time to April 10 2024 before you open the game.

When your in it will say the game is out of date and that online doesn't work, however! if you choose the invite a friend option it will create a lobby! then get a friend to also do this with you and then they can join your lobby from the invite or from the server browser. In old depot versions you are able to get XP and coins from playing against each other, the only issue though is that after winning and then going back to the main menu is that you don't get the yellow taxi items as a reward, i assume it would be a pop up that appears similar to coal from the Christmas event, Meaning its not possible :(

Also if you crash on depots then just disable items in your inventory as those are what cause the crashes.

Why all these items should come back!

This game has had collabs with shotgun farmers, Rick and Morty, and monster prom and these items are still available in game, so why are these collabs treated differently? You could just add them to the Not-A-Store and everyone would be more happy :3 also why isn't the dead by daylight emotes in the bid war but the death splatters are :(

If you browse the games files: or and look for startup.ini and then edit the file with notepad, then you can change the last_skin and last_trail to be whatever skin and Trail you want, example:
last_skin Mawaka
last_trail Cocktail
Also don't include any spaces, so Old Derpy Chicken would be OldDerpyChicken, and then it would work.
Doing this works for local and online but only if your hosting the lobby, other players will also see it too.

Example in game

You used to be able to talk to other players using Global Chat from the main menu, and you also used to be able to chat with players specifically in your lobby and during the game with the use of In-game Chat, AI Bots would also say funny message in chat too.
This was introduced in the Toxic Update in 2016[www.moveordiegame.com].
Global chat and In-game chat was removed in 2022 to "reduce toxicity". In my opinion i don't care about "Global chat" as it can be abused to spam slurs, but the removal of In-game chat was the worst decision ever, as it ruined the player count as many people quit the game, who wants to communicate with others on a PVP online game amirite?

Party games like Ultimate Chicken Horse and Duck Game still have their in-game chat so I have no clue why the Developers wanted to remove it entirely, could of just updated the chat to allow players to mute other players or to disable chat entirely for themselves instead of ruining it for everyone else. You used to be able to Spam Emotes but that was changed in favor of adding Emote Cooldowns, and it now takes 9 seconds to use another emote after the initial 3.
This was due to emote spam during games and to "reduce toxicity in an online pvp game" which is a bad change, as one emote is enough to get someone to ragequit anyway, also there's poop emote and Rekt emote in the game which you can use to upset people ''reduce Toxicity my ass''. Could of just added a togglable option in settings to disable emotes for people with emotephobia :/
Introduced on March 14th 2024 for the 8 year anniversary.
In the Play Online section of the main menu there used to be be a Hall of Fame for people who won 8 game matches or more in a row.
During the event you could also get 8 free items a day for every 8th round won, which lasted until March 28th.
The Hall of Fame was eventually Removed from the game as people could just easily cheat it by playing with people that are losing on purpose.
