Overview
You wanted to use our own video resolution but can not choose it in the game settings, in that case this guide is for you
Setting up your windows
By default, Windows hide the modification of the file extensions. In this case you will need to activate it.
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Click on the View tab above the screen.
- Mark the middle box called File name extensions
Changing the resolution
I recommend setting up your game first before you start modifying the file, since the game change the resolution to the default everytime you change something on the display settings, and then made the game close…
- Go in this directory like the picture below.
- Change the file extension .scr to .txt and open it.
- Now change to your resolution in Resolution(800,600) and save Ctrl+s
- |Change the extension in .txt to .scr now open the game and see if it worked
Extra: Custom fov
In Xpand Rally the fov settings are stored for each car so let’s do it.
- Go on the Data folder and open the cars folder.
- Inside this folder will have the acronym of several cars of the game and choose which one you want to change the FOV.
- Now inside the car folder we have several files so search for one named Model.scr
- Then similar to what you did before you need to change the .scr extension to .txt to edit it.
- Now with the file opened with Notepad around line 40 you will find the FOV(85) or something like that ↓
- |On the marked numeric field put the FOV number you want and if you noticed you can apply it to each camera mode like “BonnetCam” which can be exchanged by the F1 key.
- |Then you just save it and change the extension back to .scr and remember the method is the same for all cars folders.
Have a good time ! 🙂
