Get Frozlunky 2.5 to work after the 2021 1.47 update
Short Intro
If you know what's this all about, you can skip this one.
For those who don't know and are curious:
- There's a mod tool called Frozlunky that enables a ton of cool features, the top favourite of mine being an insanely dense and hard Sashavol mod, the only thing I play now.
Seeds, Online Multiplayer, Custom Levels, and more for Spelunky HD!
More at https://sashavol.github.io/Frozlunky/, although the site could be down from time to time for some reason.
- Recent 1.47 update to Spelunky brought good quality of life changes, but broke the compatibility with the mod. This is a very simple guide to roll back to an older version of the game to continue enjoying Frozlunky. Unfortunately, that means that you won't be able to enjoy Alt-F4 fix, Alt-Tab fix and translations, at least for now.
I've already created a Github issue for Sashavol, the developer of Frozlunky, in hope of a fix so we could get the best of both worlds. But for now, you'll have to roll back to an older version. Here's how to do it.
The Fix
- Right click Spelunky in your Steam library.
- Choose Properties, then Betas.
- There you should be able to choose a public branch called version1_4. Pick it.
- After that, you should be online to "update" the game back to the version that worked.
After a small download, Frozlunky should work again.
