how to be good at combatting turnfighters (50/50 chance of working)
Part 1: the concept of BNZ
BNZ (Boom N Zoom) is a fighting tactic that was mainly used during WW2, the way it works is that you get to a decent altitude, not too high but also not too low, you spot an enemy (lets say a P-51) and you immediately dive on it, you have superior altitude and speed and the P-51 doesnt, usually BNZ planes (planes that weren't built for turnfighting, striking, or bomber hunting) have high caliber guns (12.7-20mm) and usually have strong engines like the M-71 or AM-42, you ALWAYS have to line your shots correctly or else you'll miss and the target will get away. BNZ is effective because you get the enemy by surprise, and they usually cant do anything about it either, but failure to BNZ a target can lead to crashing, getting shot down, or collision.
Part 2: stallfighting
if your plane doesnt turn as good as others, then that means that you have good speed, this makes you an "energy fighter" and that means that you need energy in order to go fast. You bleed energy by stalling, recovering from dives, turning, or high G maneuvers, since turnfighters dont need to go fast, you can force them into a "stallfight" by diving on them or striking from below, once you force the enemy turnfighter into a stall, you swoop in for the kill, this works on every plane in the game (even pushprops) and even the FR-1.
Part 3: just dont fight turnfighters
Its ok to run away during a fight, even if you have an advantage, but you always need to study your enemies. Running head-first into a fight with an enemy you've never even seen before is a stupid decision and will get you shot down, Spitfires, Zeros, Yaks, and Focke-Wulfs are things that will turn better than you no matter what, and maybe its time to consider bomber hunting? (this part is short)
finally its done
this wont really help you at all, since im not wise enough to make this, but i had fun making this so it doesnt really matter, anyways, screw turnfighting, BNZ is better
