How to become someone’s worst Nemesis.

Overview

But definitely not your own team’s. Learn how to play Nemesis, the half-warrior assassin, in this guide.

Who Nem?

Who is this mysterious woman? Should I spend 5500 Favor to unlock her? Can I still get the Leona JPF Skin which has (Possibly) the best voice pack in the game?

The answer to all of these and probably more: Who knows.

In brutal honesty, Nemesis can be one of the trickiest Assassins to play, and even among gods is difficult. I won’t lie and say she’s absolutely tickling, but she’s definitely worth at least a rent-or try if she comes into rotation.

Nemesis is a Greek Melee Assassin, who specializes in “Shredding”, chewing through enemy defenses and doing quick DPS. I have her labelled as a half-Warrior assassin because it’s true-her defensive capabilities lend to having almost a half-Warrior-class state. This is good and bad.

Good because she’s more defensive and has a bit more survivability than other assassins.
Bad because she has less damage potential.

She is definitely a quirky god, but you might as well give her a go, and this guide a gander.

What does she DO?

Nemesis’s abilities are balanced between offense and defense, and take very careful timing. I find her to be excellent for Arena, and decent at Joust and Siege, where she can pop out from the jungle. The BIGGEST thing to keep in mind is that Nemesis has very little EVASIVE potential that you commonly get from most Assassins-her defensiveness lies in her tanking manner. So Diving as her can be easier; escaping, harder. Nemmy’s tankiness does give her a respectable presence on the battlefield however.

Nemmy’s passive are her Scales of Balance, a skill that works with her autos. It allows her to lower the Physical and Magical power of enemies she strikes, while increasing hers. After four strikes, the buff/debuff maxes out at just under 25% Increased/25% decrease. This is dandy, as it allows her to tackle enemy assassins and ADCs that would quickly decimate other assassins because of their decent attack speed and damage. Keep this in mind.

Nemmy’s first skill is her dash. This skill does deal a decent amount of damage, and can be fired twice. You pass through enemies when using it, so it can be very helpful when enemies are trying to bodyblock you from a target that is low HP, when you’re trying to escape and enemies are bodyblocking YOU, and of course evading enemy attacks and skills. It cannot be used to get out of enemy CC however, so keep this in mind.

Nemmy’s second skill is her Slice and Dice, a very versatile AoE attack that can be a good clincher. It serves two great purposes-hitting enemies in a wide area (See: great minion clear), and trapping enemies that are fleeing. The AoE has a smaller inner arc area that does increased damage and slows enemy gods, so get used to nailing it spot-on. The slow on an enemy will make all the few second’s difference you need with a good build to catch up and kill them.

Nemmy’s third skill is her helpful tanking ability. It pops up a temporary shield that can be removed by hard CC, but while it is up, reflects back up to 50% of damage recieved at max level, and heals up to 100% of the damage recieved at max level. (Killing an enemy god with this skill is hilarious)

Nemmy’s ult is a (recently nerfed) table turner that allows her to reduce a single enemy god’s health by up to 40% at max level for 5 seconds; and steal up to 50% of their protections and buff her movement speed by up to 25% for 8 seconds.

Using these skills in decent sync with each other and with your teammates can be downright hard. But learning to do so can be very gratifying and in some matches, turn the enemy team into a joke.

Helpful uses of your #1’s dash are distraction-you can feint enemies with it to get them to fire off skills, wasting their mana and time while you flit away with the second dash. Just be sure you GET that second dash, because you can get CC’d before being able to fire it. Don’t forget that casting another skill before firing the second dash cancels the second dash.
Use shield mostly when you have to flee, but remember that it won’t protect you from CC. Remember it also reflects damage back, so you can use it if you get stuck in enemy AoE to reflect a decent amount back, to amusing effect.
Don’t waste Nemmy’s #2-the slow is one of your most decent finisher moves to ensure a kill.
Her ult is most useful when you are going to finish off an enemy, but realize it can also be an initiator-the debuffs you hit an enemy with are present for your ENTIRE team-once you ult a god they are marked for elimination as it were. Sometimes this setup is all your team needs. This can be a good way to nail enemy warriors and assassins who are trying to kill one of your own teammates off-it can even be a scare tactic, since people who know Nemesis know they’ve lost a decent amount of protections when ulted.

How should I build her?

I can’t tell you how much I didn’t want to write this section.

There’s so many options, so many rights and wrongs, and a lot of what you build is based on personal preference, game mode, etecetera. I think the easiest thing to do would be to tell you what NOT to build.

Nemmy’s ult directly reduces enemy protections, so having a build that work with penetration over crits usually works better for her-with the ult, you pretty much nullify enemy defenses. This makes her a great tank shredder.

Her passive makes use of the fact she needs to be hitting enemies with autos, so building attack speed on her isn’t a bad idea-just keep in mind the buff/debuff effect stacks after four strikes, and persists for 5 seconds after the last strike.

Cooldown is decent, especially for sustain, but you may be backing a lot anyhow.

Defense can make her tankier and more warriorlike, but will lower your damage ability-all up to you.

Defensive items for her are the same ones recommend for a warrior.

IF you had to build what would you use?

Typically, I start out with Curse as my relic to reduce enemy escapes, unless the enemy team has 3 or more CC dealers, in which case I grab Purification.

I start out with Warrior’s Tabi, Assassin stock, for movement, and follow it with Jotun’s.

I then start building penetration and attack speed, usually Ichaival since it syncs well with her passive to the same effect early, allowing you take out enemy damages.

Depending on how aggressive and damaging the enemy team is, I will then focus on either building more damage if things are doing well, lifesteal if things are doing less than well, and tankiness if team is doing subpar.

For damage, I will head Executioner and Titan’s for attack speed and Pen. If things are still looking team’s way, will finish off build with Fatalis for fun.

For lifesteal, I tend to go Soul Eater for the literal butt save effect it has, plus the attack speed increase. I then go with tank or damage items following.

If enemy team is being overly aggressive and my job becomes bait and decoy, I build tanky with items that also buff power still. Warrior items for the most part.
Shifters allows you to maintain your power, while saving your butt when you need to flee. Runic Shield debuffs Magical Power and attack speed of nearby gods, and Void Shield straight debuffs physical protection-and each gives protections for you as well. These sync excellently with her passive and ult. Swapping out Witchblade if you are dealing with enemy ADCs and assassins building attack speed is an excellent choice too.

Second relic if match is going well is usually Sprint to help with those chases or remove CC, Sanc if things are going badly.

Decent switches include Qin’s Sais against tanks that seem to be fond of building health in your matches, watch Qin’s grind them right down. Brawler’s Beat Stick can be a good replacement if the enemy team has healers like Terra, Chang’e, Hel, Ra, and Aphrodite. Asi makes a good swap for Soul Eater if you need to be more aggressive since it provides Pen and a lifesteal buff while low health. Frostbound makes a good sub for slows on autos, and the health is sick as well.

Builds highly subject to change and recommendations (Especially if they keep nerfing her…)

Will everything I just read help me win?

Pssssssshhhhh probably not.

But I tried.

Hopefully this will help you suck LESS, or at least be more informed on exactly why you’re bad at Nemesis. Anyway, have fun, and don’t forget to check out my other guides.
