Overview
This guide will show you how got get level 50 in archery within 30 minutes and is mainly for beginner. I will also show you some other useful tips. Make sure you favor this guide to always look something up while you’re in game! Hope you enjoy the guide.
Character creation and Helgen
Which race should I choose? Your race actually doesn’t matter. Choose any race you want, but keep in mind that the Bosmer has the highest starting skill in Archery (25). Khajiit and Redguard have also increased Archery (20). Any other race starts with 15 in Archery.
Follow the prolog until you get in the area with the archers, kill one and grab his bow and arrows of his body. From that point you will only use an bow as your weapon! Kill the remaining imperial soldiers and go on. Loot on your way out everything that is valuable. (make sure you grab every light imperial armor) Next you will enter an area with 5 spiders. Kill the three smaller one from the distance while sneaking. Then get a bit further into the spider lair until the two big ones appear from the ceiling. Stay in sneak mode while you do this and kill them. Run into the next area with a bear and kill it while hidden. Your Archery skill should be already grown for a few points. Then exit the cave.
Riverwood
After exiting the cave you have to go to riverwood with a little detour. Follow the path to riverwood until you meet a signpost. Now you take a left, instead of going straight. Walk for a few meter and you will notice a small bandit camp to your left. There are only three people but one of them will have your new bow. Kill them and loot the camp. On one of the corpses should be an treasure map, make sure you grap that too. Now get back on the road and follow the way to riverwood. On the way you will by pass the Guardian Stones. Make sure you activate the thief stone so you skill archery 20% faster.
Once you reach riverwood talk to Sven, who should be right next to the entrance. Ask him: “You and Feandal both like the same girl?” Then take a speech option of your choice. After that follow the quest and get into the Riverwood Trader. Talk to Camilla and say: “Sven wanted to trick you into believing this letter was from Faendal”. Once you already in Riverwood Trader talk to Lucan and sell all the valuable things you pickked up. After that go to Faendal and end the quest. Now Faendal can help you out as a follower. Ask him to be your follower. Talk again to him and ask him to train you in Archery. Do this until you run out of gold. Then ask him to trade with you and take your gold you have just spend back from him. Do this until you reach 5/5 in training. Now open your skills/level up menu and choose an attribute to advance. (I recommend stamina, always useful for an archer) Repeat this until you reach level 50 in Archery. (He can’t train you further) Keep in mind to level up only if you reached 5/5 in training.
some more help and tips
You will level up multiple times, so where to spend your perk points?
First of all you should spend one point into smithing in the perk steel smithing. After that you can make your own steel arrows, but more of that later. Spend the remaining points where ever you want but I would spend them mostly on archery. Three points in overdraw to increase your damage with the bow and one in the armor type you are using.
In order to make your own arrows you need firewood and steel ingots. Behind the watermill on a table next to a grindstone you will find an axe. You will find a wood chopping block left to the bridge. Go there and chop some firewood. After that go to the forge and wait until it get’s dark and the blacksmith goes away. Next to the workbench you will find some steel ingots. Steal them and start making your arrows.
Ever heard of Angi’s Camp? A women named Angi lives all alone up there. Set a custom marker on the location shown in the screenshot and get your self over there. (start your way from Falkreath) Talk to her, be nice and she will teach you some things about Archery for free! Pretty much everytime you hit your target Archery will increase. You also find a skill book of Archery on table next to her bed. She also has the fifth treasure map in the end table next to her bed.
Need a good new bow early on? Go to Whiterun and once you there, go to Jorrvaskr which is the headquater of the Companions. Enter the living quaters and go to Aela’s room in an expert case is a Elven Bow with an skill book of Archery.
Want easy unlimited arrows?
In every great city of skyrim you will find guards shooting targets. You will see that the arrows the guards are shooting stick in the target and you can just take them. Pickpocket the guard and steal their steel arrows. After that give the guard one arrow of your choice and the guard will continue shooting with this arrow type. (make sure you save before doing that, if you get caught) Repeat this in every city and everytime you enter a city you can take your free arrows from the targets.
Remember that treasure map you found? Time to get the chest. Look at the treasure map and you will see it is near riverwood. So go to riverwood and cross the river behind the windmill. Go left until you see a big fallen tree. In the tree stump is the treasure hidden. The other treasure from the map you found at Angi’s Camp is located south east of Markath and next to Lost Valley Redoubt. You will see a river on the map and at the bottom of the waterfall in this area is the hidden chest.
That’s all I’ve got for you now.
