1. Getting Started

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to this humble guide, I will try not to bore you with insignificant details, since we are all here to HAVE FUN! (ARE YOU FEELING IT NOW MR. KRABS!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

###############################################################################
One of the most important things to remember if you are new, or still learning the game, try not to play the game like any other shooter games, (trust me bro, I did the same mistake too).
Paladins can feel overwhelming sometimes, but this tips will help you to improve based
on my experience trial and errors
###############################################################################

When you launch the game first thing you do, if you are still new, do not worry about the champions section, and do not modify loadouts(do not worry if you don't know what they are it's ok), go straight to the play button!

this menu might change, since Paladins has made a lot of changes overtime, as of this date 12/27/2025, the play menu will look like this

From here, I would recommend not to play siege if you have play other type of games where capturing the point is not a choice, so go ahead and uncheck the siege choice, and all of them as well except onslaught

No this is not discrimination or being exclusive, trust me, siege is recommended after you have at least master 2 or 3 classes (don't worry about what classes are right now, I will explain eventually)

last but not least join the queue and have some fun

2. Best Practices as a Noobie

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now let's talk about classes, this is one of the most essential concept in Paladins that you'll need to understand, in order to git gud at the game
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Paladins there are 4 classes: Damage, Flank, Frontline, and Healer
this concept is very similar to League of Legends (yes I shower every day).

If you are still new to the game I highly recommend to choose a Damage champion, specially if you want to play siege, the main reason is, since you are probably still new to maps and roles you'll give your team a bad time, and they will type mean and offensive things on the chat uwu.

These are the Damage champions you can choose from:

Don't worry if you haven't unlock them all, no champion is better than other, because skills > skins

The first thing I recommend is to git gud with a champion at a time, also if you fall in love with a champion is ok, you can play that champion too, just make sure not to play siege right away, until you have master the champion in onslaught first, once you get good at 1 class, move into another class, until you have master all of the 4 class champions.

Last but not least, when you are playing a match, keep an eye from time to time to your abilities cool down time, they can be located at the bottom right of the screen

--------------------------->☝️
Don't forget these abilities can be used with

[Q] [F] [right click] and [left click]

[E] is your ultimate, you special champion move,
every champion has one

Important note as a noobie
When you first begin a match, the game will give you to choose 1 Talent, and 1 Loadout, do not worry about those right now since you are just learning, so just pick the ones that matches one another, basically the Developers already created default loadouts for each champion, so you don't have to worry about those for now.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if you have paid attention so far, you have noticed I haven't mention anything about items talents or loadouts, do not worry about those right now, as a new player your main goal is to master all 4 classes first, if you want more information about classes go to section 3, if not, go ahead and start having some fun at Paladins
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Classes

As I mentioned in section 2, there are 4 classes:

Damage ⚔️
Flank 🥷
Frontline 💪
Healer 💉

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each champion plays a key role in the game, and even tho might see teams picking 2 healers or 2 Frontlines, do not worry about it, some people are arguing back and forth about the Meta, ignore them for now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The role of a Damage ⚔️
Pretty self explanatory, make as much damage as you can, as a Damage player, you are the backbone of the team, always cover the Frontline and Healers, specially Healers

If you are playing siege the point is also your priority, try capturing when it's safe to do so

The role of a Frontline 💪
As a Frontline your main role is to capture and protect your team, you have to be the one in front of your team, provide cover and shields for them, think of Football, when the players slams each other, yeah that is a Frontline, you are though and built to protect, by default you have a lot of health, so marching forwards is your role

The role of a Healer 💉
Pretty self explanatory as well, you role will be to heal the team, this is one of the hardest class to master because of reasons.

  1. if you are getting started the team mates might bully you
into oblivion, so ignorance is bliss
  2. you'll get attacked, a lot, by the enemy
do not worry about the negativity of the big meanies on the interwebs,
just do your best, and eventually you'll master a Healer in no time,
###############################################################################
PS 💀
Pip Players, DO NOT PLAY DMG PIP UNLESS YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, STHAP! ONLY PROS KNOW HOW TO PLAY DMG PIP
###############################################################################

The role of a Flank 🥷
Flanks are a little tricky to get used to, as a Flank, your primary goal is to help your team from the shadows, try picking left or right sides of the map, and if you need to retreat, do so, and retreat back behind your team, do not try to go out there by yourself ahead of the map, unless you already know what you are doing, also, keep in mind if you are playing as a Flank, chances are, you are going to be moving really fast, so think about the Healer, they cannot be behind you at all times, so do your healer a favor, and if you need heals get close to the Healer, the Healer is already stressed out enought because of the cyber bulling

Golden Rule about Siege 🔑

DO NOT GO OUT BY YOPURSELF,
AND DO NOT PLAY LIKE IT'S COD
SPECIALLY AS VIKTOR

Enemies will laugh at you by hiding behind walls
and going from 1 wall to another,
this does not work here, a key to success in Paladins
is how efficient are you at using your abilities,
and canceling their moves
if you like to be sneaky a pick a Flank champion
but don't be that guy who picks because IT'S MY WAIFU
I mean is ok to pick, but think about the team,
this is why communication is important,
even if you are total strangers,
once you have master these classes
you can play as anyone without fearing to be
bullied by the team

4. Items

Items determine if a game will be a success or a failure, trust me, I've seen matches where the enemy team has no chance of wining and they flip the table, this is why I love this damn game, you never know what might happen next! 🤯

As of today 12/27/2025 the items list look like this
These items can be purchased at any time in a match by pressing i key
on your keyboard anytime you are inside the spawn point
I highly recommend to buy items when an enemy kills you, this way you
get a chance to study the enemy,

are they too fast?
do they take too many hits to get them,
what is it?

According to what you study,
you can make your purchases
based on what you think
is getting you destroyed,
there are many choices in here,
but I'll cover only the essentials here

  • Blue items are defensive items, one of my favorites is heaven, since it reduces enemy damage

  • Yellow items are mobility and cooldown reduction items

  • Green items are healing items
PS healers, you can choose Rejuvenate right away, it will help your tea mates a lot

  • Red items are offensive items, one of the best offensive items is wrecker
if the enemy has a lot of red shields, this item will crush their shields

5. Talents

Once you have master the 4 classes and you have a solid foundation of what items are and how to use them, you can focus on Talents, long story shot, Talents are benefits that you get trough the whole match, this is the first thing you see when you begin a match, the game will give you 3 choices, this is an example of my waifu Skye's Talents

The game will make you choose between 3 Talents
at the beginning of each match, so basically you'll have
these benefits trough the whole game,
you don't have to worry too much about this,
since this is more about your play style,
plus if you are new, you'll have only 1 Talent unlocked,
you'll need to level up in order to unlock them all

6. Loadouts

#

Last but not least you'll notice each champion has a unique loadout (cards), what are those!?, loadout are long story shot, same as Talents, these are benefits you'll get trough the whole match, example, your champion runs too slow?, go to the loadout section, and add a card that boost your speed, is your champion too weak?, go to the loadout and add a card that will increase your health, etc...

Where can you modify your loadout?
At the main screen click on: champions
Click on your desired champion
Then at the top of the screen
there will be a menu, click on the loadout button

This is the example of my waifu Skye loadouts

As you can see, I have already created a lot of loadouts, and I gave them a unique name, since at the beginning of the match, the game will give you very little time to choose a Talent and a Loadout, so when it's time to choose, I already know what Loadout I can go for without reading each card, this is the key to understanding Paladins, read outside of matches what Items Loadouts and Talents do, also do trial and error, if you build a Loadout test it, then if it does not work the way you thought it would, swap some cards, or boost others, I personally prefer balance, so all my loadouts are:

3 3 3 3 3

You don't have to do it this way, but for me it works, trial and error is key, and a random youtuber does not have all the answers to Loadouts, trust me bro, I have more than 3k hours on the game so I know what I'm talking about, the best way to build a loadout, is to take time to read the cards, and do trial and error, eventually you'll find a Loadout comfortable for your needs, and that's pretty much it, this is how you git gud at Paladins all you have to do is read.
