Overview
hello everyone now i know people are having problems getting their DOW1 games to work correctly and there are some that have gotten them to work but not everyone will have the same results as those people and i one of those people that were having trouble getting them to work even after i tried several methods that others have put up on the Community saying that it worked for them but after numoures failed attempts at first i wanted to call it quits and i did after a while but i love these games too much to let them die in the Warp so i went looking one last time and found a solution that will work not just for us but for you as well
Step 1
find the DOW1 game you want to play for this I’m going to use my friend Rengi’s SoulStorm so rightclick on SoulStorm
Step 2
go to the bottom and select Properties

go to the Local Files tab and then click on Browse Local Files
Step 4
Scroll until you see SoulStorm’s application (or Dark Crusades,Winter Assault’s etc),right click on it and go to Properties then go to the Compatibilty Tab
Step 5
once your in this menu check the box to have the game look for the type of Compatibility you will be setting and (LEAVE IT CHECKED do not uncheck this box it will default back to the original setting making the game not work when you launch it) set the Compatibility to Windows98/Windows Me
Step 6
Once you have everything set correctly exit out of the menu and launch the game it should work if you did everything correctly if it still crashes then you did something wrong on your end
