How to p-raise the Sun with Khepri

Overview

Learn how to bug hug properly with this guide. Hugs sold separately.

Pardon me sir and/or ma’am?

If you will allow me to bug you for a moment, I would like to share glory of our lord and savior Khepri.

Or at least, tell you how to play him properly. If you would like to learn how to play one of the sassiest and cockiest guards out there, keep reading. If you don’t care, you will burn in hell go back to browsing other guides.

Dawning on you?

Who is Khepri?

Khepri is the Egyptian god of the Sun.

You mean Ra?

No, the other sun god. Ra brought the sun across the sky during the day, then when Ra was macking with his ladies, Khepri dutifully brought it back around the world during the night to bring the dawn. Hence, Khepri the Dawnbringer.

Khepri is a melee magical guardian. His skills focus heavily on tanking and protecting allies, and he presents a formidable presence on the battlefield. Two of his skills provide decent CC, and his ult is a fairly revolutionary and unique one that allows him to protect himself or an ally from death. it works pretty much like so:

Khepri’s passive is applies a 2% Max health buff to nearby allies every 5 seconds while out of combat, and every 10 seconds while in combat. This means to provide allies best aid, stay close.

Khepri’s first ability is his bug hug. He dashes forward without warning, grasping the first enemy god he hits in a loving embrace so snug they can’t even talk-they’re literally silenced-and drags them backwards. You can direct this drag, but keep in mind your hugged enemy can still attack you with basics if they decide they aren’t liking the hug although honestly what’s wrong with them who doesn’t like hugs???

Khepri’s second is his balls. Ball. One huge ball. That’s right. He’s got so much balls he can spare to toss one right his enemies’ faces. The sphere flies forward far, doing damage over time and reducing enemy physical protections by up to 25% for a short period. It also protects allies if it strikes them, by reducing damage taken up to 30%.

Khepri’s third skill is an angry sun fart. He drops a nice sunny AoE beef on a ground target location, doing damage and rooting enemies hit. Very nice.

Khepri’s ultimate is the best cockblock and kill denial move ever. He selects an allied god and marks them and cleanses them of CC. While they are marked for 5 seconds, they have increased movement speed, and immunity to slow. If they die while marked, they will be revived at Khepri’s location with a percentage of their health. (Up to 40% at max rank)

What do these mean for you?
First of, they mean you’ll need to get gud. Second be a ♥♥♥♥. Literally. Strut your stuff, smack your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, let enemies know who’s boss. Make use of your #1 and #3’s CC’s to make enemies hate you, and then make it even worse by denying kills with your ult. Your #2 and #3 provide excellent area denial, forcing enemies to dodge to avoid them. Your #1 makes a great initiator-use it to snag a squishy enemy god and pull them in for your team to gangbang. Team will love you. But be careful, your snagged god may often explode in your face with basics, especially if its an ADC or Mage. Make sure team is nearby to mop the floor so YOU aren’t the one getting killed.

Additionally, use your other skills beside your ult to protect your allies. Rooting pursuing gods that are trying to finish off an ally, or grabbing them and pulling them back, are EXTREMELY helpful and will save just as assuredly as your ult.

As for your ult, realize two main things-#1, the buffs are insane-often, if you have a low health ally with several skills ready to drop, buffing them pre-emptively and then telling them to suicide is a great tactic for setting up an enemy team wipe at no expense to your team. Learn to create suicide bombers! obligatory Allahu Akbar??
Second, marking a single ally that needs your ult in a group of allies in a teamfight can be very tricky-ESPECIALLY since Khepri is bigger than other gods, you can easily accidentally mark the wrong target. Oops. VVCC!

Chitin your enemies!

How do I build this massive dyick?

I think they have pills for that.

I meant Khepri.

M y b a d .

Khepri’s passive requires him to stay near allies, and his other skills mean he needs to stay near enemies-so among other Guardians, he is VERY frontline. While he has bruiser capabilities, you’re gonna have to check other guides for that garbage, because this guide is on running savior khepri, not doombringer and scourge of all nine realms Khepri. Look at him. He’s a cute ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Why would you build him bruiser unless you’re just a ♥♥♥♥

Good Relics for him to start are Salvation, I rather recommend this on most Guardians, but since you should always be in range of allies, it’s especially good on Khepri. With proper defense, you shouldn’t need Salvation or Purification, Khepri has enough tankiness with a good build to handle what is thrown at him. Second relic recommend for him is shell, for when enemies ult, or if you have super-aggressive enemies, Thorns.

Khepri is very situational when it comes to defenses you should build.
You need to be looking at what the enemy team is building and change it up based on this. If you see an enemy team building magical penetration, stack health and regen instead. Heavy CC, stack items like Magi’s Blessing and Winged Blade. Counter build, counter build, counter build!

As CORE items, I recommend items that buff health, mana, and CDR, then after that, build items that play to block enemy team damages. The three core items I recommend on Khepri are:

Shoes of Focus, or Reinforced shoes. The choice you make should be based half on your level of confidence, and half on what your enemy team composition is. If you are looking at heavy CC (3+ gods on the enemy team with hard ♥♥♥♥) Then I’d take Reinforced. The only advantage Focus really has over Reinforced is the CDR, which you definitely want to build on Khepri, but having a CC redux early is helpful, and Reinforced Boots’ passive damage reduction is great for early bug hugs.

Hide of the Urchin, as an early ♥♥♥♥ move-the damage reduction to both damage types, as well as the boost to health and mana, will have enemies howling with rage early as they fail to damage you. Not to mention as you get assists (Which you should, as a good Khepri) you’ll gain up to 30 magical and physical protects you will never lose.

Mail of Renewal for a dandy health boost, as well as increased passive life regen and the blessing of a Cooldown reduction. And again, if assisting like a good bug, you will make use of the item’s passive quite a bit.

IF you are playing a laning mode where you are going to be mainly focused on supporting, and not have a lot of time to focus on minions, or are just generally bad at it, I do highly recommend Watcher’s Gift as well.

Beyond these three items, again, your last three are entirely up to your discretion and enemy team composition-if you need to figure out what to build, browse the items and learn what they do, or check my guide here for general tips. Keep in mind aura items like Heartward and Sovereignty are great on Khepri since he needs to be nearby teammates.

Go forth and shine!

Alright enough nonsense. Go out there and smite. And don’t forget to buy his voicepack. Seriously. It’s good. VVGL VVGF.
