THE GUIDE INCON AND COOKIEZI DON’T WANT YOU TO SEE
Moving Into S3
Now that we have officially moved into S3, I felt that it would be better to create a brand-new Curse Voice Apollo guide, rather than adjusting the old one, due to both the enormous amount of changes we’re going through and the fact that I felt a clean slate would lead to better writing and a better overall guide.

Obtaining the Skin
As we move into the third season of SMITE, I understand that researching how to obtain the skin has become much more difficult, due to Hi-Rez both nerfing many search engines and replacing the “common sense” system with “relics.”
Obtaining the Curse Voice Apollo skin is rather simple actually, and shouldn’t be too much trouble assuming you know how to function like a normal human being.
- First: You need to download Curse Voice[beta.cursevoice.com], a poorly-made voice program forced upon us by Hi-Rez instead of having their own in-game one, because every other MOBA has also decided to make this awful decision of having no built-in method of communicating outside of a text-based chatbox.
- Second: You need to start this garbage program and leave it open as you play SMITE. After playing five games with this horrendous program contaminating your computer, you will now be able to use the Curse Voice Apollo skin.
- Third: It is important to obtain the other rewards offered by using the worthless program we have been bribed into using. After obtaining all of these rewards, be sure to uninstall this program and factory-reset your computer[www.dell.com] to help it recover from the mental harm caused by the VOIP we have used.
Congratulations! You’ve now received the Curse Voice Apollo skin, along with many other assorted goodies!
Voicelines
Unlike the other aspects of Curse Voice Apollo’s transition to S3, his voiceline meta has remained extremely similar to S2, though it has become better. Curse Voice Apollo’s voicelines are still very important, and should still be utilized to their fullest potential, especially since it has become even more important thanks to the emphasis being put on the complaining meta (which will be discussed later).
Be sure to use them at every opportunity given. This wins games for you. It raises team morale unless you’re using it to basically call them Hitler, makes people laugh in the Skype call when they don’t have you blocked, and lets you humblebrag that you either consistently completed all events for four weeks in a row to get the 200 gems needed (two weeks if you waited until a sale), or bothered to play the game on a weekend during a gem event because you decided that was a good thing to do with your weekend. The chemistry between his emotes and voicelines has become weaker, but it is still a good idea to employ this tactic, as Curse Voice Apollo has the best animations in the game.

Practice is important to master the art of Curse Voice Apollo voicelines. A good Curse Voice Apollo practices until they can do something, but a great Curse Voice Apollo practices until they’ve perfected something. You can practice by spending a couple of hours just writing a voiceline over and over, or training your dog to say the voicelines in perfect Russian. However, I find the best way to practice using voicelines is to use notecards with certain scenarios on one side, and the appropriate voiceline on the other side. Some of the notecards that I personally use to practice are:
- Getting first blood of the game: [VVA]
- Beginning a game of Clash: [VVN]
- Actually using Curse Voice during a game: [VEL]*∞
- Friberg lands a 180° headshot: [VVGT]
- Anhur decides to AFK because he thought Anhur solo was a good idea: [VEW]
- Somebody asks why you are the carry, and then you give a reason why: [VEG]

Attacking and Building
Entering S3, the I’m Attacking You Nonstop build is officially dead. Hi-Rez, fearing it as much as the Dirty Bubble Build, has decided to get rid of it. However, in the changes of old items and introduction of new items, new builds (yes, builds!) have been discovered. Not only can we support the classic “Why I’m The Carry” type of build, but we can now officially build Tank Curse Voice Apollo! A much needed part of the Curse Voice Apollo arsenal, this will make sure Curse Voice Apollo is able to compete no matter how tanky the meta gets!
OFFENSIVE BUILD
If you’re building offensively, this is what your final build should be, with no exceptions, in every single game that you play. There’s a lot going on, but I’ll be sure to explain every decision made here.
- Relics – Meditation and Wrath: These were the second most obvious decisions when creating this new build. Meditation allows you to both box against an opposing ADC for longer periods of time and heal the jungle and support that should always be immediately next to you, while Wrath allows you to down the new attack-speed buff replacement (the damage buff) as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Devourer’s Gauntlet: The bread and butter of any offensive Curse Voice Apollo build. This amazing item gives us a great amount of physical power and lifesteal, perfect for what we need!
- The Crusher: As offensive Curse Voice Apollo, you should always be trying to take down objectives. The Crusher makes this much easier, giving you stacks that make the inevitable destruction of the enemy’s structures much quicker.
- Gauntlet of Thebes: Because you have built Devourer’s Gauntlet, you will be healing for a lot with auto-attacks. Gauntlet of Thebes increases the amount healed by a relatively large amount, in addition to giving you more health in general.
- Hydra’s Lament: This items decreases cooldowns by a solid amount, which is exactly what you need in order to ult as much as possible. Once you’ve used these abilities thanks to the lower cooldown, it even increases the power of your next auto-attack! This is simply an item that you can’t skip over.
- Winged Blade: Increased health, attack speed, and movement speed? Sign me up! This item gives you more health overall (works well with Gauntlet of Thebes), gives more attack speed (making up for the lack of attack speed you suffer from), and even gives you more movement speed (the faster you move, the faster they die)! However, the best part is the CCD. An amazing stat that will ensure you stay alive against anything that isn’t a majority of CC in the game!
- Spectral Armor: In order to seal the deal with that CCD given by Winged Blade, you’ll be buying this nifty little item. In addition to having your possible escape chances increased, it also decreases the effectiveness of lifesteal against you, making boxing other ADCs a breeze!
- Consumables – Multi Potions and a Sentry Ward: Very obvious, no need to explain this one.
SUPPORT BUILD
If you’re building defensively, this is what your final build should be, with no exceptions, in every single game that you play. There’s a lot going on, but I’ll be sure to explain every decision made here.
- Relics – Purification and Sunder: As a support, you should be sure to always have a way to get to your teammate. With Purification, you are able to escape any sort of CC and arrive to save the day! Sunder is also cool because you’re guaranteed the assist when somebody is about to die.
- Void Shield: Physicals are scary, and this item deals with them in two ways. First, you gain physical protection. Second, they lose physical protection! It makes sure that they’re terrified to hang around you and your ADC buddy.
- Wind Demon: A great thing to do as support is lower or prevent healing of the enemy. With this item, you can theoretically do that exact thing if you happen to land a crit on a person who is about to heal.
- Mark of the Vanguard: This is a standard starter item for supports. It ensures that you don’t take too much damage, and allows you to stay in lane.
- Cloak of Unrelenting Sorrow: While Curse Voice Apollo is arguably the best god in the game, he does have a distinct lack of CC. This item allows you to release miniature shockwaves that provide CC for you.
- Genji’s Guard: A great counter to any sort of magical damage, allowing you to heal and move faster whenever you take magical damage.
- Reinforced Greaves: Increased health to live longer? Check. Increased CCR and movement speed in order to help faster? Check. Great item for a support Curse Voice Apollo to have.
- Consumables – Health Potions and Mana Potions: Again, this one is fairly obvious and doesn’t require explanation.
Overall, the changes in items have, while changing the playstyle of Curse Voice Apollo, hugely benefited him, allowing for diversity in roles.
Complaining
COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT YOU DON’T LIKE
(Credits to HLTV[www.hltv.org])
The biggest change to the Curse Voice Apollo meta coming into S3 of SMITE is the emphasis now being put on complaining about everything that you don’t want to happen. Originally, in S2, complaining was definitely helpful, but only the top Curse Voice Apollos could do it properly, so for beginners, it really wasn’t necessary to teach. However, Hi-Rez has now made it easier to complain, creating a Curse Voice Apollo meta that requires you to know how to complain and insult others properly if you wish to succeed.
Important things to consider while complaining:
- Use proper grammar and spelling. While it may seem faster, easier, and even a bit more insulting to use terms such as “ur dumb” or “♥♥♥ rtard i said defend gf,” you should be clear and concise in how much you despise the situation you’re in.
- Even if a person blocks you, you should still take the time to type out your insults to them in order to establish dominance over the other players in your game. If everybody blocks you, take this time to ponder why you play a game as bad as SMITE.
- Whispering the opposing team is also a solid mixup. Complain about the balance of the gods, how braindead Zeus is, or how your opponent is only winning lane because his jungler is babysitting him. However, be sure to never compliment the opponent, as everything they do is actually terrible.
- Your jungler should always be helping YOU. Curse Voice Apollo is arguably the most important role in the game, and your jungler should be ensuring that you are fed and babysat properly.
- As previously mentioned in the voicelines section, these are a great method of complaining, allowing for a quick and easy method of making your teammates feel horrible about themself while also teaching them to hate the game!
- Complaining, while mainly employed as a Curse Voice Apollo tactic, can also be used by other characters. Playing Scylla mid? Jungler should be at mid harpies as soon as possible. Playing Mercury jungle? Your speed buff takes priority over everything, even the titan. Keep this in mind should you choose to, for some odd reason, play any non-hunter character with a skin used to promote Curse Voice.
Congratulations, you are now a Curse Voice Apollo master!
Hopefully, all of the Curse Voice Apollo mains from S2 will have learned how to transition to S3 in the best way possible. While we may not agree with all decisions, we can appreciate that Curse Voice Apollo will never be nerfed into irrelevancy.
