How to: Play Glacier Renny offensively
Why go offensive?
As people first learn to play, sooner or later, they realize that blocking is really good, and that they should block and wait for the opponents to finish their combo and become dazed, then counter attack.
This works really well in the lower levels of play where players are spamming attacks. for example, Valle's famous "spin to win" RRR or the Succubus's RR
However at higher levels, this strategy stops working and there several reasons as to why this is the case.
One reason why this strategy stops working is that players start to spam small jabs so that there is no room to stop blocking to counter attack.
Another reason why this stops working is that some people don't finish their combos that leave them open. For example, Elika can leave out the R in her LLLR combo and just use LLL. If the blocking player stops blocking to engage at the end of this string of attacks, then Elika can press R and deal a ton of damage. If they don't, then she can begin her LLL combo again, forcing the blocking character to keep blocking. Quite a few champions have this characteristic in their attack sequences.
Another reason is that some characters like Sewon ends his combo with a push that pushes the blocking champion away from the character, preventing the blocker from counter attacking.
Last reason that I've found as to why this stops working is because people start to learn to use the alt smash key to break through the defense.

What is the solution?
Solution to this problem is for the player that plays Glacial Renny to also use conditional attacks.
What I mean by "conditional" is, "if attack A is met by response B then I do C", like Elika using her LLL attack and then making a check to see if her opponent is still blocking. If her opponent is still blocking then begin a new attack sequence, like LLL. If her opponent is not blocking, press R.
Here are the attack sequences and conditions that I follow while playing Glacier Renny. The conditions are hard to follow when you first start, but with practice it becomes easy and close to second nature.
Step 1: Shift + R to the opponent.
Step 2: If the attack hits, or if the player is close enough and you judge that he is close enough to hit and it is relatively safe to attack, attempt to use L.
Step 3: If the L hits, follow it with R then JLL. Once landed attempt to use L again to begin the conditional attack anew. Return to Step 2
Step 4: If the L attempt fails and it is blocked, then press alt+R before the animation ends to break through the block and knock the opponent up to follow it up with JLL and another attempt at L. Return to Step 2
Step 5: If the player doesn't have enough bars to use the smash attack or the attack wiffs, check if the opponent is in the air, (usually reonah with her JRR) if he isn't, then follow up the attack with another L and then R for the line of frost.
Step 6: Line of Frost has the property of pushing back the opponent, so if he is blocking, he took some damage and is pushed back. This puts you in a relatively safe position where you can either get away or attempt another initiation by flashing behind him with shift then R, return to Step 1, depending on the circumstance.
Step 7: If the line of Frost wiffs then you suck at aiming and need more practice. If they are out of range of the line of Frost then you misjudged the "he is close enough to hit" in step 2. The range is different per champion.
Step 8: If opponent is Reonah in the air then run circles underneath her until she falls back down and you take minimal shotgun damage. Or, if your feeling ballzy, jump up there and attempt to jump kick her. Either way, begin your attack anew with L. Return to step 2.
Step 9: If the opponent is in the air and it is not Reonah, then continue engaging with JLL or disengage, depending on the situation.

Conclusion and Difficulties
Although this guide looks complicated, do not be discouraged. It simply looks that way on paper, it is not as complicated as it seems when applied practically.
The problems I see many new players have during a fight is that they panic and start to spam click by pressing LLLLLLLLLLLLL. One of the most important skill that a new player will have to learn to apply this strategy is to get used to timing his attacks one after another. This skill is not limited solely to Renny G. but a general skill that applies to every champion.
With enough practice, this process becomes almost second nature and leads to the player performing much better then he would otherwise do without using conditional attacks.
Tips:
With the first L attack, I usually look at the first punch at Renny makes before determining which attack path to follow. Trying to make sure whether or not both punch goes through before making the decision doesn't usually matter as much.
Good luck!
