How to Stop playing and thinking about War Thunder
Section 1 The Mind Wipe
Through my many years, phases, and experiences on war thunder, I must admit it's no simple task to remove the mind/grindset of the warthunder player. The beginning is rough, but if you follow through it's possible to quit within a month or 2.
Sobriety takes time and strength, But with how the war thunder addiction, it's quite simple if you follow these simple steps I plan to line up for you.
To start you must find a hobby or 2 you can obsess over, it's even better if it has nothing to do with war thunder, I highly suggest old films such as 60's japanese films, I'm partial to feudal japanese movies like the Yojimbo films, or ones like Harakiri, Even western films can intrigue. If that doesn't work for you, finding things to read, informational manuals for automotive, electrical, Though in my experience the perfect thing to completely wipe your mind is chinese/korean period drama/historical manhua, the longer running the better, some are 2000 chapters long and if you can get invested, your warthunder addiction will be wiped for a while.
Of course there are other ways, especially hobbies that cost money as well as time, with how war thunder claims both from it's victims I find if you commit to a financial draining hobby, you get even more invested. A project car, electronics to repair, nothing that requires imagery as your mind will be drawn back to war thunder, combat vehicles, the sounds of which will phase you back into it, you'll find yourself staring at the hanger screen again
Section 2 The Dippage
It becomes clear now, you have a problem, "how have I wasted so much time on war thunder"
if you bend and get back on only suffering awaits you, your rust will have taken hold and shaking it off will take matches, and matches will mean you're back on the grind. Make sure you've deleted the game and muted war thunder steam notifications.
At this point it's important to focus completely, drone out anything that could be related to war thunder, tune into a podcast such as a dnd themed one, tech reviews, movie reviews, tv series reviews, sports, horse racing, fishing. I recommend avoiding normal means of videos, use things you won't see ads on, or sponsorships especially youtube.
If you can't dive into whatever you've chosen for your time absorber, find as many facets as possible and multitask, listen to music and read, watch something and write a review of it. Anything to keep your mind closed.
If you can isolate yourself from all the platforms gaijin(the snail) has snuck into and waits for you in, you can make it free.
Section 3 The Grippage
By now you might have a pit in your stomach, the thoughts about war thunder might stir in your mind, you miss it but what you really miss is the neuron activation, the dopamine rush you get from when the game is at it's peak and that is nothing.
It's simple, all you have to do is find one of your hobbies and obsess over it, forget everything else possible and get a grip on something else that replaces that feeling of accomplishment, something you did, something you completed, something you enjoy.
If you can find that, you won. If I see you on war thunder I'm coming for you
