Savage Resurrection Guide

How to Teamwork for Savage Resurrection

How to Teamwork

Overview

It’s supposed to be a guide improving the overall teamwork because it seems many people forget how important it actually is in this game compared to a casual shooter knowing that there are sadly not many people left to teamwork with. Many parts may seem obvious but may not be for everyone. To fully understand also read the commander parts as FPS unit and vice versa. Also taking my experience of >1kH NS2 in consideration because it’s a similar concept.Critics/Suggestions/Improvements wished if reasonable.

A: As FPS unit. Basics.

0) Communicate but do so appropriately and effectively.
Don’t spam your opinion blocking all communication. If you’re ignored you’re either wrong or your team is wrong (or both) but thats not a decision. (In that case: 4) )

0.1) Use the communication macros.

1) You got less responsibility than your commander but the responsibility to assist him as good as possible to make your team the most effective.

2) Keep an eye on your HP. If you die you have to wait leaving your team more vulnerable.

3) Kills don’t matter.
If you’re low on HP rather seek for health instead of finishing off your enemy. Let a healthy teammate get your kill instead and come back with more HP.

3.1) Assist dying teammates. Don’t be afraid of “stealing” kills.

3.2) Having/Being a healer is always good.

4) As long as your team wins it doesn’t matter if you’re the last on the scoreboard because a kill doesn’t take into account how much damage you actually dealt in comparison to your teammates.
(being the last on the scoreboard doesn’t equal being the worst – kills are over-emphasized* ))

5) Don’t question the commander. If you think hes bad ask how you can help him. If you then fail it’s indeed the commanders fault but no reason for you insulting him.

6) If it’s ok for the commander that you take a bit responsibility and help with strategy/tactics/organisation so he doesn’t have as much micro management then it’s ok but also not purely his fault if you lose.

*[IMO] it could be better to show K/A/D as reward for a completed match instead as comparable value next to your overall score all the time. Your overall score and level should solely be the values you take into account to see if you should do better during a match. (Overwatch is a really good example for emphasizing the right teamwork for it’s gameplay subtlely.)

B: As Commander. Basics.

0) A:0) It’s as simple as important in being the foundation of your teamwork. You just got movement orders as support.

1) You’re the boss and you have the most responsibility initially. But even as commander you’re just a part of your team. If you’re not good ask for help.

1.1) Don’t be afraid of making mistakes but learn by making them. It’s just a game and everybody has to start somewhere.

1.2) Being a worse comm than one of your teammates doen’t mean you’re prone to lose. It’s your teams responsibility to support you, so you(plural) can make the best out of your situation.

2) Take your teams critics and wishes into account but don’t act if it doesn’t suit your plan. If you’re not effective your team can’t be unless the enemy is worse.

3) Don’t let them question you. You’re the commander because you got the plan. If not ask for help and give responsibility to your team.

4) Split the responsibility by making groups because that makes your job easier. Less micro-management means more focus on the strategy means you can make your strategy adapt more effectively to any situation. If your team doesn’t like it it’s just as bad.

4.1) Give teammates responsibility over other teammates. And just order those. A good structure makes your job easier.

4.2) Having your team split into Offense/Defense and SpecOps doesnt mean you can’t split each team into smaller groups if you need to cover more areas more effectively.

5) Skilled players should lead groups. If you don’t have skilled players compared to your enemy blame the matchmaking system just as your lobby.

6) Your team can only blame you if it actually does what you want when you want.
Lategame a discussion about why your team of non-commanders is better than you while nobody took the comm-role is just plain nonsense in every way but not for your opponents.

C: As FPS unit. Advanced.

This part is more focused on how to take the responsibility and thus the micromanagement of your comm.

1) When I said don’t question your commander I partially lied considering you want to be more effective for your team as teammate. Make suggestions as you see them fit. But A:0) (communication).

2) If you’re in a group because your comm made one or he let you make them yourselves wait for your teammates if you just spawned or get back to them if you don’t have to get across the whole map. Use your sparetime to repair or collect res or ask your comm what you could do.

2.1) It’s usually better to walk in groups than alone. ( See A:1) A:2) )

2.2) Be smart so your comm doesn’t have to be for you.

3) The rest is the skill you should improve as teammate not as the one dominating with the most kills. The more both the better but teamwork > kills. Obviously.

D: As Commander. Advanced.

If you can manage your team it’s just about your skill and strategy and secondly about your teammates’ as individual. But it’s your responsibility to make them work as team.
If your teams structure doesn’t work out adapt appropriately. Same goes for your strategy.
