Items

First of all: you should build your items depends of how is game going, which Gods your opponents have and how they play. Starter items is quite specific depends on game mode you playing so there is only core info for Cupid’s builds.

Boots

Choice of Boots[smite.gamepedia.com] must be made depends on some factors too. Make yours.
Best choice for early game is Warrior Tabi[smite.gamepedia.com](1550g) because of 40 bonus physical power. This is good amount of power either for early and late game.
But you shouldn’t forget that Cupid’s power lies in his fast Attack Speed, so you can pick Ninja Tabi[smite.gamepedia.com](1500g) to utilize it with more efficiency.
It’s smart to pick Reinforced Greaves[smite.gamepedia.com](1400g) if enemies have more than 2 hard CC abilities. But in this case you obviously loose in damage output so i wont recommend that unless you catch all CC every time.

After boots you should plan your item build depends on game situation and enemy setup. There is some useful items for Cupid and explanation why you should build them.

Ichaival[smite.gamepedia.com](1700g)
This item’s passive increase your physical power by 10 and decrease by 10 physical power of your targets each time you hit them with basic attack. Buff and Debuff stacks up to 3 times.
You also get 30% attack speed and 10 penetration from item’s basic stats.
Ichaival is very cheap and quite strong item for early game but you should change it for something suitable in late game.

The Executioner[smite.gamepedia.com](2250g)
This item’s passive decrease physical protection of enemy you hit with basic attack. Debuff stacks up to 3 times.
You also get 20% attack speed and 30 power from item’s basic stats.
Executioner is great item for any ADC in any situation.

Brawler’s Beat Stick[smite.gamepedia.com](2400g)
This item’s passive decrease healing and HP5 of enemy you hit with basic attack. Debuff doesnt stacks, lasts 8 seconds and healing reuced by 40%.
You also get 40 power and 20 penetration from item’s basic stats.
You should get this item ASAP if your opponents have strong healers like Aphrodite[smite.gamepedia.com] and Hel[smite.gamepedia.com] or you stand against God with powerful self-healing ability like Hercules[smite.gamepedia.com].

Quin’s Sais[smite.gamepedia.com](2850g)
With this item’s passive you deal additional physical damage to Gods with basic attacks. Damage is equal to 4% of your target’s maximum health.
You also get 15% attack speed and 30 physical power from item’s basic stats.
Quin’s Sais is extremely good against Gods with large HP pool. If your opponents have 2-3 fat guys – you should get this item. With Quin’s Sais passive and Cupid’s attack speed you can deal even with Geb in seconds.

Deathbringer[smite.gamepedia.com](3150g)
Feeling lucky? Then pick this one for crits. Deathbringer’s base stats grants you devastating 50 physical power and 20% crit chance.
With this item’s passive you deal 50% more damage with critical hits.
If you feel that 20% critical chance is not enough for you then look for next one.

Rage[smite.gamepedia.com](2755g)
Rage’s passive grants you buff of 10% critical chance every time when your basic attack does not crit. This buff stacks up to 5 times and resets every time you deal critical hit. You get average 30 bonus physical power and good 30% critical chance from this item’s basic stats. With Rage you should crit much more often than with Deathbringer but your crits will be less painful.

Odysseus’ Bow[smite.gamepedia.com](2450g)
This item’s passive triggers a chain lightning with every success 4th basic attack. Chain lightning damages the target and up to 4 nearby enemies for 30 damage +50% of your total Physical Power. You also get 40% bonus attack speed from item’s basic stats.
Odysseus’ Bow is very useful for waveclear due to Cupid’s high attack speed. But pick it with care because of low usability in teamfights.

Titan’s Bane[smite.gamepedia.com](2050g)
With Titan’s Bane all your basic attacks have 33% physical penetration.
Basic stats grants you only 30 physical power which is good due to low price.
Get Titan’s Bane when opponents have huge physical protections and you feel that you need more penetration.

Hastened Fatalis[smite.gamepedia.com](2140g)
With Hastened Fatalis you wont get movement debuff after basic attack if you hit enemy with it. You also get 30% attack speed and 10% movement speed from item’s basic stats.
This item is great for chasing and if you feel that your attack speed isn’t INSANE enough. Due to Cupid’s Flutter[3] and Heart Bomb[1]’s stun you can avoid purchase of Hastened Fatalis and still chase enemies with succes.

Actives

Cupid feels good with any actives that can be used effectively by ADC. These two is almost universal:

Conquest

Love conquer all. What does Cupid?

Back in days(2012-2013) you could see Cupid even in Middle lane.
Cupid is Hunter so better choice for him is Duo lane. He is extremely good at dealing damage as ADC so there is his particular place.
You can go Solo if your ballsheart is big enough. Cupid dont have a good waveclear like Apollo or Anhur but have good sustain. Heart Bomb[1] placed on ranged minions is good for zoning your opponent. So you definitely can do it.

Starter Items

You should start at any lane with:
Death’s Toll[smite.gamepedia.com] (800g)

  • +15 Physical Power
  • +90 Health
  • PASSIVE – Hitting an enemy with a basic attack restores 6 health and 1 mana.

OR
Bluestone Pendant[smite.gamepedia.com]

  • +15 Physical Power
  • +90 Health
  • PASSIVE – Enemies hit by your damaging Abilities take additional 30 Physical Damage over 2s. (Max 2 Stacks)

AND

Spiked Gauntlet[smite.gamepedia.com] (650g)

  • +7% Physical Lifesteal

You should upgrade this to Devourer’s Gauntlet[smite.gamepedia.com] ASAP.

Mana Potion[smite.gamepedia.com] (50g)

This one restores 150 of your mana for 25 seconds. Very useful since you have heal ability and Death’s Toll for sustain.
You can stock with Mana Potions when you visit base for items and have spare gold left.

Other Items

First of all you must upgrade your Spiked Gauntlet to Devourer’s Gauntlet and start building stacks on it. This will makes you capable of dealing much more damage and sustain more tough situations.
Then you should analyze situation and get suitable Boots to make Cupid mobile enough for killing and surviving attacks. In SMITE mobility means a lot for ADC.
After that you should continue your build with usefull items for your current situation but dont forget about late game.
For example: if you’re standing Solo against Physical opponent – it’s good to build Ichaival[smite.gamepedia.com] first. But it becomes terrible idea if enemy team have only your lane opponent as physical damage and other 4 gods is magical(yes, this sounds crazy but happens sometimes in Normal). So make your choices based on good old analyzation.

Abilities

You shouldn’t start your build with one particular skill. Choose it when you need one of them.
In most situations you need your Heart Bomb[1] to get attack speed/mana buff. But you also can be in need of Flutter[3] when opponents decide to invade you.
After you get all your abilities to 1lv. i recommend to level them in this order:
Your top priority is Heart Bomb[1]. This is your main damage ability, this is your only hard CC and this is your key to zoning opponents.
You shouldn’t forget about Share the Love[2] and level it as second-priority ability. With this one you can get your HP and HP of your lanemate at decent level.
Then comes Flutter[3]. In early game bonus to attack speed is not that important as in late game, and leveling of other abilities gives you more advantage. Still have it for escape or chase early.
Your ultimate – Fields of Love[4]. Level it every time you can, because it’s damage increases significantly.

Behavior

It’s pretty much like another ADC:

  • Try to lasthit minions, be careful about ganks and harass opponent when you can.
  • Use your Heart Bomb[1] on ranged minions – this will zone opponents or damage and even stun them if they not careful enough.
  • Use Share the Love[2] for keeping health level on your lane.
  • Remember that Fields of Love[4] cripples opponents so they can’t use their escape or chase abilities. For example, Neith[smite.gamepedia.com] cant Back Flip and Thor[smite.gamepedia.com] cant teleport to his hammer from Fields of Love[4]. They still can use Beads to remove this effect and escape which means they cant use it in nearest future again.

Assault

One lane, One life

On Conquest you can recall to base for items or change your lane. On Assault you can’t.
This means rules are different and you should make some changes in your play.

Starter Items

You cant leave lane for shopping on Assault. That means you must build your items for maximum efficiency during your one life. There are 2 my options of starter items on Assault for Cupid, both bases on his fast Attack Speed:

Option 1: “Feeling Lucky”
Quin’s Sais[smite.gamepedia.com](2850g)
Quin’s Sais passive nearly doubles your damage output in early game even if enemies have no tanks or bruisers.
You also have more attack damage when your enemies level so even if you live long enough – you will still be efficient.

Mana Potion[smite.gamepedia.com]*3(150g)
Get three of this to keep yor mana level. You have Share the Love[2] for healing, remember?

Option 2: “Classic Assault”
Pick one of theese for damage and penetration, depends on have opponents healer or not. Another Cupid is not counts as healer.
The Executioner[smite.gamepedia.com](2250g)
If they have no healer.
Brawler’s Beat Stick[smite.gamepedia.com](2400g)
If they have healer.

Meditation[smite.gamepedia.com](300g)
Pick Meditation of 1-2 tier for mana restoration.
Get some Healing and/or Mana potions for change.

Other Items
  • If you doing good without Boots – dont pick them for second item, but get it for third anyway.
  • Build Brawler’s Beat Stick[smite.gamepedia.com] against self-healing Gods like Hercules, Chaac or Vamana.
  • Upgrade your Meditation[smite.gamepedia.com] to Salvation[smite.gamepedia.com] when you are ready.
  • If 4-5 enemy Gods are Magical – it’s ok to get Stone of Gaia[smite.gamepedia.com].
Abilities and Behavior
  • Leveling is same as on Conquest.
  • Always Share the Love[2] with wounded teammates.
  • Try to stay at safe distance but dont forget to harass opponents.
  • If your team have weak waveclear – use your Heart Bomb[1] for it. Otherwise keep it for Gods.
  • Dont rush in with Flutter[3] unless your team chasing weak enemies.

Arena

Fighting Intensifies

Arena is a game mode when teamfights is constant even if teams are not fighting right now. You always must be prepared for fight.
This gamemode is most easy-to-understand so i don’t say much about it. There is some tips anyway.

Starter Item, Tips, Behavior and stuff
  • Start Arena with Boots unless you want to be the one who gaves the First Blood to enemy team.
  • Always watch for Attack Speed buff and be careful at getting it.
  • Always watch minions and your portal. Even if your team have Kukulkan or something like that.
  • Always let your team know that you going to base(with voice command).
  • Always retreat if your tank says so.

Some other tips

There is some useful tips about being good Cupid:

  • If your Ares or Xin Tiang catches some enemies in his ultimate – don’t rush to use YOUR ultimate. Wait until enemies use their Beads or not.
  • When your teammate escaping from tough situation – Share the Love[2] with him. This can save him from some unfortunate surprises like ultimates of Thanatos, Neith, Nu Wa and so on.
  • If your opponent uses Aegis – feel free to attach Heart Bomb[1] to him after 1 second of Aegis duration. This can be useful when his friends comes to the rescue.
  • Use your Fields of Love[4] to prevent enemies from escaping from teamfight or chasing in tough situation.
  • Dont be greedy about Lovestruck[P]. Heart Bomb[1] still damages and Share the Love[2] still heals without full stacks.
  • Flutter[3] leaves a trail behind you that grants allies 30% bonus movespeed. This can help!

Feel free to leave your critic and share your love. Thank you for reading. Sorry for my english after all.
