KaM Remake with Steam overlay and play stats + sound fix
Steam overlay and play stats
You don't need to copy, rename, or remove anything to make it work. Steps are very simple. Install KaM from steam, then install remake (no need to install it in original game's folder). After that follow this:
- Open Steam client.
- Right click on game in library and choose properties.
- In launch options write: "path_to_kam_remake/exe_file" %command%.
Example:"D:\Games\KaM Remake\KaM_Remake.exe" %command%
Sound fix
On windows 10 (maybe earlier versions as well) you might have bug where sounds doesn't play even if you hear music. Sounds are handled by crappy driver called OpenAL. "Creative" creator of this crap has introduced terrible bug to this driver. From informations I gathered this problem arrives since 2.40.008 driver (windows 7) and above (2.40.010 and 0.12 in windows 10).
There is workaround I tested on windows 10 that works for me. You will need to install OpenAL and OpenAL Soft, the latter can be dowloaded here https://openal-soft.org/
For OpenAL Soft you need to download version with binary files and do as follows:- Unpack archive.
- Go to unpacked folder and open "bin" folder. You should see 2 more folders for 32 bit and 64 bit version of windows.
- They go as follow:
- If you have 32 bit windows copy files from "Win32" to "system32" folder in your windows folder.
- If you have 64 bit windows copy files from "Win32" to "SysWOW64" folder in your windows folder and files from "Win64" to "system32".
- If you have 32 bit windows copy files from "Win32" to "system32" folder in your windows folder.
If for some reason you still don't hear sound effects in game google is your best friend.
