Last Roman Campaign: Frankish Kingdom in Legendary Difficulty

Although Frankish campaign is labelled as "Normal", I found it more irritating than Ostrogothic campaign. (Anyone interested in Ostrogothic campaign in Legendary, please check https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2237625409) Because different with Ostrogoths, who is at peace with every faction at the start, Frankish is at war with Burgundian in your first turn. What is more, the Breton in Brittany is quite aggressive and has high chance to declare war on you, making the situation very nasty. You have war at the front and a dagger stabbing on your back.

In my playthrough, every known faction at the start has red face except Visigoths, which offers you a mere yellow one. And it is impossible to marriage our daughters to Visigoths or Ostrogoths to improve the relation with these two big theatrical players. Well, we have no choice but to keep our daughter within our family.

With such dire situation and, of course, pretty bad public order thanks to legendary difficulty, I suggest we should eliminate Burgundians as soon as possible. We have four armies at the start, which are enough to end the war with Burgundians. So in Turn 1, don't hesitate to recruit, and march towards Burgundy! Ambush stance is your friend, it's better to lure their armies to attack you. It looks like that the Burgundians have two stacks at the start in the east of their territory.

In Ostrogoths guide, I suggest raising the tax rate to the highest to boost the economy developement. However, in Frankish playthrough, we may not do it at the very start, since I want to eliminate Burgundy before I have to quell the rebellion.

In Turn 1, try to ask the Bretons to join your war with Burgundy. Possibly they have moderate chance to join. Give them some money to bribe them into the war. In this way, the relationship can be improved and the Bretons have less chance to declare war on us when we are busy with the Burgundians.

Besides all this, feel free to join the Visigothic war against the Suebian. Suebian has little chance to invade your territory and improving the relationship with the Visigoths also helps to improve your relationship with the Ostrogoths.
