Assorted fixes.

Last editted on 10/30/2016 to remove/replace broken links and organize teh guide.

It was suggested by Frost that I do a little guide to possibly help folks out, so here it is. I take no credit for most of these fixes and quote the sources where possible. If someone for some reason has a problem with me using their fix let me know, and I will reword it and unquote you, but still use it. Just kidding, message me and I will add you to the contributor list if you want or remove it if you insist. Hope this helps some folks out.

To find your problems press Control and F on your keyboard then type in key words in the search box or simply scroll through, the fixes are bolded

FIRST AND FOREMOST, SEND IN A TICKET! IF NO ONE SENDS IN TICKETS, THEN PROBLEMS NEVER GET FIXED. SEND IN THOSE TICKETS!!!

Problem: Launcher stuck at the black screen.
    Solutions:
Delete "LaunchPad-User.ini"(or LaunchPad-User if file format is hidden) in the "Steam\steamapps\common\DC Universe Online\" folder.
    or
Update Flash Player[get.adobe.com] for Internet Explorer(Launcher is based on it).
    or
Replace "LaunchPad.exe" in the "Steam\steamapps\common\DC Universe Online\" folder with version of this file from official site[www.dcuniverseonline.com](probably this works for the eu version[www.dcuniverseonline.eu] too)

  • Problem: "Unable to download Bad stream" error

Solution: Disable your firewall/anti-virus. (I recommend making exceptions instead of disabling.)

  • Problem: Cant launch the game after update - game crashing.

Solution: Click the "Advanced tools" option in your launcher and then go to "Validate game assets -> Validate"

For those having issues with the update (I.E. the update starts gets a small way through then the entire launcher just disappears).
Open up your task manager and go to processes, have it sort by alphabitical. Now open launchpad, watch the task manager closely. you should see two awesomium processes there. Now quickly end one of the two awesomium processes before the update starts (this may take a couple tries).

  • Problem: LaunchPad was unable to connect/Regional problems.

Solution: Double click on "RegionalSettings.bat" in the "Steam\steamapps\common\DC Universe Online\" folder.

If nothing from this guide works you should contact {Daybreak} Customer Support:

  • Problem = Launchpad not updating.

....After going back and fourth with Daybreak technical support, Here`s how I fixed it...

1.Go to your game's folder and find the file "Launchpad-user.ini" and delete it.

2.Then, go to C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\LocalLow and delete the entire "Daybreak Game Company" and "Sony Online Entertainment" folders...
(These folders are flagged as "Hidden" - you will need to enable the "View Hidden Files
and Folders" option in the Folder Options menu of your Windows Explorer)

Once I did this, I FINALLY got it to patch, It crashed a few times in between before fully patching all the way to 100%, But once it was done, I was able to log in and play after that... Crisis on Infinite earth... Averted.

  • For SOCKET ERRORS

The most common causes of these launchpad connection errors is Bloatware. In these cases, a semi-malicious program (or group of programs) is preventing the launch pad from connecting. I have also included additional instructions to follow as subsequent steps if removing bloatware did not resolve the issue.

    1. To fix this, you will need to remove said bloat ware programs in order to connect. Some common software to look for is below.
    • Browser Safeguard
    • Browser Infrastructure Helper
    • Search Protect
    • Browser Defender
    • Severeweatheralerts.exe

    2. Reset your Internet options by following these instructions: First, make sure to have all browsers and the Launchpad closed. Next, go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Clik the Advanced Tab. On the Advanced Tab Afterward click Reset > Delete Personal Settings > and click Ok. Then go back on the Internet Options and on the advanced tab. scroll down to Security and un-check "Check Server Certificate Revocation" and *Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk* then click on Ok.

    3. Windows Proxy Settings: Please refer to the Knowledgebase article for assistance with these steps: http://help.soe.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/28400

    4. LP4 Cache Settings: If some cached information is preventing the LP4 from working properly, they can clear the LP4 cache by going to the game's folder and finding the launchpad.libs folder. From there, delete the launchpad.cache folder and try accessing the game once again.

    5. Anti-Virus / Firewall Software: It is not advisable to fully disable AV/FW software, but you will want to make sure the proper exceptions have been made for all security software.

    6. Client Reinstallation: This is a last ditch effort – as I’m sure you know, reinstalling takes time, and not an initial recommendation. In some rare cases, however, reinstalling the client will fix this error.”

Due to character count restrictions, here is a new section.

    It crashes whenever I:
    -Alt-Tab
    -Disable Fullscreen
    -Disable V-Sync
-Mess with ANY settings that affect the window resolution or size.

Also, the steam overlay broke after my first time running the game.

I'm on Windows 10, I have 12 gigs of ram, a GeForce GTX 760, And an AMD FX 6300 x6 processor.

Can anyone help me out here?

UPDATE:I figured it out. NVidia Shadowplay, the program I was using to determine FPS, was ♥♥♥♥ing with it.

  • Recently had a problem where my client seemed to have gotten corrupted. I could not change certain settings, my resolution was locked at a low setting, and menus were seemingly removed from the game, I did this wild, outlandish thing that no one does and sent in a ticket and here is the solution I got.

As well as the character files:
<username>_CharacterCache (same file location as above)

Next, delete the CONFIG folders under both the DCGAME folder and the ENGINE folders by following these instructions:

Open the DC Universe Online LaunchPad. (Do not login at this time.)
Click Advance Tools, Open Game Directory, then close the LaunchPad.
    Double-click UNREAL3.
Double-click DCGAME and right-click on CONFIG select Delete.
Double-click SaveData and delete the .dcoprofile file. (NOTE: see backup file location from above if not located in UNREAL3 folder)-Backtrack to Step 3.
Double-click ENGINE and right-click CONFIG and select Delete.
Close all open folders and restart DC Universe Online using the LaunchPad to login and play.

If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

In order to possibly resolve this issue, go to your game's folder and find the launchpad.libs folder. From there, delete the launchpad.cache folder and try accessing the game once again.

If this does not resolve your issue please reset your Internet options by following these instructions: Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Click the Advanced Tab. Might also be a networking/firewall issue. Make sure your system security or router isn't blocking or interfering with the game.

Editting file permissions on Windows 8.1 (and possibly others, use google if not.)
Right click, go into properties, the security tab, then edit permissions to full control.

Will throw this in, too. Optimizing Windows 10. The most common problem with Windows 10 is upgrading then having game launchers break. Simply validate your game cache to fix that.
