Smite Beginner Guides / Tutorials / Channels Collection

Overview

This is probably the largest collection of guides to get started with Smite, mostly creating by Lionkun with some additions from others and me. It covers everything from the very basics, transitioning from other mobas, key bindings, different game modes, advanced strategies to popular pro streamers and content creators.Uses external links to reddit and youtube.

Introduction

Hi guys, this guide list is for those of you who haven’t played Smite before and are considering to start with the Steam release. The guide will be updated over time and additional info will be added.

This should answer most of the questions you have about Smite.

Guide sources and guides

To give you an overview of information you can look into aside of the official Smite info, check these posts by Lionkun:

This covers most things you might want to know.

Transitioning from LoL/Dota/other mobas

The can also be very helpful for Dota players, it’ll make getting started much easier.

Choosing your first gods

If you want to have an idea of which gods you should start with, I recommend checking this video I made: (shameless plug)

Adjusting key bindings

Another recommendation is to change up your key bindings from the start. The standard key bindings are rather inconvenient as you have to move with 4 keys, but also use 8 keys in total for all abilities and items, so the wasd 1234 binding might not be ideal for you. I personally recommend a esdf awr+spacebar or wasd leftshift+qe+spacebar binding, explained in detail here. The reason I post this is the longer you get used to the standard key bindings, the harder it is to transition over.

Which mode to start with?

By the way, if you’re wondering which mode to start with: There’s no definite answer to that. Arena is the easiest, Assault is a lot more about luck, Joust and Siege are probably best when you can’t find a group of 5 people and Conquest if you want to learn the actual depth of the game from the start.
I personally recommend mixing things up, so you get a feel for everything. It’s always advised not to ignore Conquest, as you might otherwise develop a certain “stage fright” over time due to being to unexperienced with the meta – something that matters a lot less early on.
