The Ultimate POSTAL Guide (Overhaul in progress!)
Intro
-
Postal came out in November 14th, 1997
-
The game's manual included a diary written by Postal Dude as he continued his rampage
-
The Steam version of Postal includes both Special Delivery and Super Postal levels
-
In Europe, Postal was released under the name Postal: Going Over The Edge and was heavily censored
In December of 1997, RWS released a Xmas patch, which included new Dude's lines, aswell as reskins of many weapons and NPCs
-
Special Delivery came out as an expansion pack for Postal on August 28th, 1998
-
It included 4 new levels, EZ Mart, Shanty Town, Earthquake and La Palamino Resort
-
This expansion also featured a few new NPC models and voice lines
-
Base version of POSTAL was also needed for this expansion to run
Postal Plus came out on March of 2001
It combined the base Postal game and Special Delivery expansion pack into one disc
In 2001, it was first ported to Linux by Loki Entertainment
A year later, Postal Plus came out in Europe under the name Postal: Classic and Uncut, every copy also included a demo for Postal 2
Classic and Uncut featured the whole game, now without censorship
In 2009, Postal Plus was first digitally released on GOG, before few years later on Steam
Postal Power-Up Kit, also known as Super Postal in the West, was released in Japan on March 17th of 2000
The edition shown on the left is the first Japanese release that included the 2 new exclusive levels, Tokyo and Osaka
It also includes Japanese dub for the whole game, with text still staying in English
Super Postal also received 2 re-releases, SP Super Price Edition and SP Ultra Price Edition
Western audiences got to experience this expansion for the first time on the release of Postal Redux in 2016
Story
"The game follows a man named Postal Dude who has just moved into a city named Paradise, but after a while he gets evicted from his home. He believes that the United States Air Force is releasing poison gas in his town and only he is unaffected. Fighting his way to the Air Force Base, trying to destroy the source of evil coming from the base."
This is just a little summary of the whole Postal story. To get a more detailed version you can check out my other guide, that will show you the full and detailed story of Postal.

Weapons
With it's infinite ammo, the M16 also has infinite range
The farther away the target, the less accurate it becomes
The shotgun holds a total of 100 shells
Thanks to its wide fixed spread, the shotgun can easily hit multiple targets at once
It is most effective against single enemies up close
The spray cannon holds a total of 100 rounds
This fully automatic shotgun shares the same ammo pool with the classic shotgun
With it's rapid rate of fire, it outputs huge amounts of damage, at the cost of quick ammo consumption
Postal Dude can hold a total of 15 grenades
When thrown, the grenade flies a set distance before hitting the ground and exploding with a small blast radius
The grenade's throw distance is dead set, it cannot be changed, no matter how far you aim your crosshair
Postal Dude can hold a total of 15 molotovs
When thrown, the molotov flies a set distance before hitting the ground and exploding with a large flame spread
The molotov's throw distance is dead set, it cannot be changed, no matter how far you aim your crosshair
The missile launcher holds a total of 15 missiles, including homing missiles
When fired, the missile flies a straight line until it hits a solid object or an NPC
Homing missileslock onto the nearest NPC
Because of it's almost non-existent blast damage, even in a close group of NPCs, it will kill only one
The napalm launcher holds a total of 15 rounds
When fired, it's projectile bounces when encountering a solid object in it's path
The projectile flies a short distance in the air before creating a flame train on the ground
The flamethrower's fuel tank holds up to 200 gas
When fires, the flamethrower shoots out a gust of flames, putting anybody in range on fire instantly
Despite it's many upsides, gas for the flamethrower runs out very quickly
Enemies
The first most common enemy that you will encounter is the male and female police officer. Spawning in literally in every lever. Can we easily killed by 2 or 3 shotgun blasts
Equipment: Pistol, Machine Gun, Shotgun or Automatic Shotgun, depending on the difficulty.
Also a hostile that you encounter in every level, only throwing grenades or molotovs and sometimes also dynamite. With moderate HP, can be easily killed in a few shotgun blasts.
Equipment: Grenade, Molotov, Dynamite
Again, really common hostile, appearing in every level. Carrying mostly M16 like Police Officers, changes weapons on higher difficulty like PO. Also has a bit more HP than PO.
Equipment: Pistol, Machine Gun, Shotgun or Automatic Shotgun, depending on the difficulty.
Another very common hostile, probably the hostile that has the most HP in the whole game. He really feels like a huge bullet sponge. Carrying only missiles and heatseeking missiles on higher difficulty.
Equipment: Missiles, Heatseeking Missiles
Finally some rare hostile! Appearing in the Mine for the first time, and then few more time in the rest of the game. Carring only dynamite. He also is the weakest hostile in the entire game, sometimes go down in 1 or 2 shotgun blasts.
Equipment: Dynamite
And finally, the only artificial hostile in the game, a sentry that shoots bullets like the M16, spreading fire or shooting like an Auto. Shotgun. It can literally shoot anything. But watch out, once you destroy it will fire one rocket in your direction.
Equipment: Machine Gun, Auto. Shotgun, Napalm Laucher, Flamethrower, Rocketlauncher

Enable cheats.
Complete the game.
Kill a naked person. You can find those in levels like Earthquake and La Palamino Resort
Use every weapon in the game.
Complete the game having killed everything. You have to finish every level while having 100% in the top bar.
Complete the game using only the M16.
Take 10,000 hits. This will take you a few hours, I would recommend setting the difficulty on "easy" and run into groups of hostiles with M16's.
Complete the game without letting any non-hostile NPCs die. Here are a few tips:
1) Try to always stand infront of hostiles, and kill them as fast as possible, dont let them run around.
2) On late levels use the Flamethrower as much as you can, civilians wont ever run into the burning hostiles.
3) Save after every level, but only if you are 100% sure you killed only hostiles. Even create multiple save files, just to make sure.
4) You dont have to kill all the hostiles, only get to the same % as the level wants you to.
5) Try to use instakill weapons as much as you can (grenades, molotovs and missiles)
6) Keep in mind that if a hostile kills a civilian, it counts as a kill, so if you see one lying on the ground, restart the level.
7) You could also totally use the easy way, type "theresnoplacelikeoz" which will skip the level you just entered. But only real sissies use this method, be a man and beat the devil at his own game.
Make 10000 kills. This one will take you a few hours to complete, but to make it faster, go to challenges>timed>have a blast. Use molotov where the civilians spawn, you should kill around 400 people.
Hit 100,000 targets. This one will take a few hours too, but to make it, again.. faster, go to challenges>flag>unarmed bridge sprint. As the level starts go to the right corner asap, take out your M16 and start firing at one of the rocket sentries in your sight. And after that, repeat until you get the achievement.
Fire 1,000,000 bullets. Probably the most time consuming achievements of them all. But heres a tip:
Step 1: When entering a level, type the cheat "Shellfest" and "Shotgun". This will give you shotgun ammo aswell as the Automatic Shotgun.
Step 2: Kill everyone in said level
Step 3: Equip your Automatic Shotgun and start firing, after your ammo runs out, type the cheat "Shotgun" again, fire all the bullets and repeat this process until you get the achievement. If you do this fast enough you should fire around 50,000 bullets in around 10 minutes.
And yes cheats do disable achievements but not the ones the require a certain number of people dead or bullets fired.

In the audio options, you can change the language to Japanese, which was first introduced in the japanese version of Postal, Super Postal. Which is a really great little thing that RWS has decided to add.
As any other game, even Postal has its difficulty options. Easy, Medium, Hard and Masochist. The only thing that those difficulties change is the equipment of hostiles. For example, on Easy all the hostiles have M16's, and on Masochist they all have Auto Shotguns even in the first level, with unlimited ammo. Now thats a challenge, too bad that there isn't an achievement for completing the game on Masochist.
Have you ever wanted to play Postal with the original controls from 1997 ? No ? Well now you can! With just one click you can experience those awful controls, and maybe turn up the difficulty setting, if you feel like a total madman. Those controls were actually still in Postal until 2016 (I think). And you couldn't change them. What a dark age, am I right.
Back in the day, it was pretty normal for games to include demos. A piece of gameplay made by the devs playing in the background if you stay idle for some time. In those demons you can look at the gameplay of levels like Construction, Home and Bridge.
