Tips and Tricks (Maxed the Character Limit)

  1. You can sneak while mining, will make you harder to spot but even better let you know when you have been spotted.
  2. Keep a medpack on all of your party members and during the getting up animation spam right click on themselves, this will jump start you to the healing animation witch can be canceled for a quick escape. (Does not work all the time but when it does, it helps.)
  3. If you are being run down and see a pack of Garrus, run toward them. they will most likely help you in combat. The Garrus have to be walking tho, not running or they will pay no mind to you.
  4. Having your backpack off in your inventory will make it so guards can not see the items inside.
  5. Inside varying shops, you can hide behind tables while stealing, but this also extends to the shop counter. While you loot the shop`s counter the owner standing behind it will not see you if you stay close to the counter.
  6. While in Mongrel set your turret guys on the turrets, and set the AI to shoot first and boom, auto turret leveling up to 100, also they will hit guards so precision shooting leveling as well. You could also heal the guards to bolster you relations with Mongrel and one or two of your guy`s first aid skills.
  7. While in The Great Desert look out for sand ninjas, not only do they wear some good starter gear. But some of them have a bounty of 4,000 Cats! Run them to the nearest gate and the guards will do the rest, just be sure to pick up one with a bounty quick before they get carted off.
  8. You can still drop items while in a KO state, this means that after hungry bandits knock you out. You can throw your food on the ground and they won`t be able to pick it up.
  9. You can make your camera follow one of your party members by double clicking their photo. (Kinda more obvious but some people seem to not know this.)
  10. Have extra Hivers around your base? Turn them into martial arts users, the extra combat speed works great with the dodging as after you dodge you will move into attack range much faster then other races.
  11. The top 4 races for martial arts are as follows:
2:Skeletons-Deal damage with 3 stats, not just 2.
3:Scorchlanders-Heal faster and have +20% EXP to dodge.
4:Sheks-More hp yes, but also + 20% EXP to Toughness and +10% EXP to STR.
5:Hive Prince-+20% Combat move speed, +20% Toughness, and +20% First aid. (Granted starting out will be hard but after you gain 50 or so dodge then you will be unstopable!)
  12. Spamming right click on your assassination target will give you the *THUNK* text and the EXP meany times over.
  13. In order to train dodge safely you can put one of the twitchy bar thugs with a cut off leg in a bed and talk to them and make them angry they will still be in the bed healing faster and stuff but they will lie on their belly and hit at you, this trains dodge rather quickly, and to top it all off he will still swing at you while in a recovery coma!
  14. Wearing foot armor is nearly useless, just wear Wooden Sandals especially if your a Shek.
  15. Hive Workers and Soldiers can eat raw and foul meat, Hive Princes can also eat raw meat, but do not collect foul meat if your playing as a Prince as for some reason they can not eat it. (Most likely due to higher standards.) Scorchlanders can eat raw meat but not foul meat as well. And animals can eat both.
  16. No vendors selling meds? Got a medpack that is really low? Just sell it to them, close the shop, and open it back up again. Your medpack you sold will be full and you can re-buy it!
  17. To delete save files, select the save and actually press the Delete key on you keyboard (Just learned this one today :L)
  18. If you are a Skeleton do not get yourself enslaved, the guards will not be able to repair you.
  19. Following trade caravans is a great way to get early-mid game levels and explore the world of Kenshi. I would say to bring TUNS of med kits to help heal the guards and level your doctoring skill while at the same time gaining relations with the traders, you can even buy food and med stuff from the traders during the trip. And if its a hive caravan you can even buy some legs in case the worst happens.
  20. You can move items between copper and iron ore to a character closer to storage without needing anyone to go back and forth, this can also be done to get food and meds to people VERY far away by simply dragging an item from where its stored to a portrait.
  21. Buying slaves is a great way to raise your relation with any faction this can be exploited, similar to this so can bounties, simply find a full jail that takes bounties and have 2 bounties on you, they will take on and not the other. Just stand there and turn bounty in over and over and increase your relation every time.

This is very easy to do in Squin, lead a group or two of hungry bandits to their doom via the OP gourds, then lead 2 dust bosses there too, make sure to grab them both. Then turn one in (Make sure the jail is full first) the guard will just hold them and stand there, then turn in the second bounty over and over, after 50 or so times you will be at 100 relations with the Sheks.

This can be done with slave traders but this will take some time and be hard to do before the slaves are gotten by slave caravans and such.

  1. if you're playing as a low athletics build or short range crossbowman you can trigger the attack animation of the enemy and gain some crucial space to run away and or shoot the enemy
its super OP against beak things
  2. When leveling up, you always gain the same amount of XP, but the higher your level, you will get a penalty on XP gains. You can easily lower your pratical stats (on effect) to remove this effect and get the same stats you got before leveling. A good way is to use a crappy wakizashi, a Trader's Backpack and Samurai Armor (A total of -14 to attack). Also works for martial arts wearing full samurai armor for -20. This doesn't work if it's a multiplier and not a flat value (like wearing chainmail and sneaking around. You will not level up stealth faster).
  3. When leveling toughness you will get the same XP per hit no matter if you are naked or wear armor. That's why if you level up toughness, get good protection in order to take more hits before going down.
  4. Shooting a crossbow in the dark will lower the aim of your shooters (if they stand in the dark, not their target). If you want to level up extra Precision shooting, make them shoot in the dark. Otherwise, buy some Lanterns of Radiance.
  5. Toothpicks can be used to kill leviathans rather quickly thru bleeding out.
  6. The Kral`s chosen faction Stenn Desert are the best early game mobs for training because they will not enslave you, jail you, eat you or loot you after they beat you down.
  7. Skin bandits don't attack Hivers or Skeletons. This means that you can go to the Skinhouse HQ with a hiver, steal everything and then kidnap Savant and no one will stop you.
  8. Reavers are extremely weak to crossbows and turrets because their armor has 0 Harpoon Resistance.
  9. If you settle in UC territory and you plant hemp, you might get a Hash Raid after the Tax Collector. Samurais will arrive and register the place to see if you have Hash. If they find it, they will ask for a bribe or they will become hostile.
  10. Allying with the skin bandits can be helpful to a skeleton as they have free repair beds.
  11. As ally of thieves you can lockpick every single box in their bases to train and they will not say anything if you don't steal things from inside
  12. Find crab village or shinobi theft tower or any outlaw building, sleep in un-owned bed and right click the lock your character will do lockpick animation and still be sleeping, then once they open it they go back to the sleeping animation. This makes you harder to spot while training lockpicking and regenerate hp.
  13. You can que up multiple move orders at once by pausing the game, hold shift, and then right clicking the designated areas. Use to auto train.

Tips and Tricks (2)

  1. Armor smithing is a good way of making money in Kenshi, while also giving yourself the ability to make good armor for your squad. When smithing there are 3 main ways to use it.

The first is crafting a small cheaper to craft item, such as bandannas. This will cost very little in order to start and is highly profitable with a higher skill level. However this will make you level up very slowly per crafted item, and thus you will have A LOT more crappy items that you need to sell or burn in order to get rid of before you make an actual profit.

The second is something a little more time consuming, like Trader's Leathers. This will need more cats when starting out in order to keep running. But takes less items crafted in order to start turning a profit while over all feeling more consistent while leveling. These items being more useful also means you can cover your squad with this high level crappy armor early on in order to take a few more hits. You can also combine this with the first option and switch between them as you see fit.

The third is late game armor smithing. You would probably only want to do this if your smith died and you need to level a new one, or you have the cats or mined resources in order to make good late game armor for your squad. This would be used most likely after you do the other 2 options.

Now lets get into something spicy about smithing most people don`t know about. If you want to level your smithing, but don`t feel like using up a bunch of resources then all you need to do is lower the power going to your electric smithie. The smith needs power to work, but the work will slow down with lowered power. However the EXP your smith gets will not. In order to do this you need to build things that take up power, or wait until your wind power is at a low output. And boom, free smith EXP.

Hidden Stats and Stat Facts

  1. Scorchlanders heal 10% faster then all other races other then Sheks, and Sheks heal 20% less then all other races. But due to the fact that all races heal speed is based on how much hp they have. Sheks actually heal around 5% more then normal humans despite the debuff.
  2. Hive Workers and Princes have +20% to combat move speed while hive soldiers have +10%. Skeletons have -10% combat move speed.
  3. Combat move speed does not effect the speed you swing your weapon, it is how fast you scuttle to your enemy in a combat stance. Combat speed does do this however.
  4. Martial arts binding will make you do +5% damage no matter the weapon you use.
  5. Wearing masterwork Crab Armor and Samurai Leggings gives you a 50% chance to take very low DMG for anything hitting your stomach! Unless they are using an armor piercing weapon.
  6. Unlike the other races skeletons deal Martial arts damage based on DEX and STR, this not only means they are the best martial arts users in the game. But it means that you inflict mortal wounds at a lower MA then other races due to bleed.
  7. Dexterity does not effect Martial arts animation speed, only the martial art skill and strength does that.
  8. Sheks swim at -50% the speed of other races.
  9. Skeletons auto repair at a speed +200% that of human healing, but only void hp that is missing repair speed itself is based on skill much like medpacks, blunt damage hurts you longer, but cutting is near instantly repaired. But there is one thing that never stop hurting you no matter how strong you think you are, Hackers these bad boys will use blunt dmg to lower your hp and cutting to add oil loss but they also can do +50% DMG to you! Meaning you die way quicker and that extra heal speed is nothing.

You also lose perma hp and have to sleep in a special bed in order to get to max. If you do not do this you can eventually end up with an amount of hp that can get you one shot KILLED! (I have been hit by a hacker one time, and it took 10 parma hp instantly!)

  1. Combat ability (the "Bonus/Penalty when fighting opponents stronger/weaker than you") is determined strictly by melee attack and defense, or martial arts and dodge when unarmed. Stats like dexterity, strength, and weapon specific skills do not effect the EXP multiplier. But opponents with higher weapon skills will do more damage, leading to more toughness gained by being hit. and this also extends to dexterity and or strength depending on damage types used
  2. In order to use a weapon effectively you must have at least twice its weight in strength.
  3. Weapons found out in the world thru buying or stealing are always better them homemade weapons, homemade weapons deal significantly less damage.
  4. The "Skill required" number on crossbows is the skill at which you will operate the crossbow at optimal capacity. For example, you reload Toothpicks the fastest, and shoot the fastest with perfect aim at 90 skill.

Pet Tips

  1. Most pets seem to reach elder at around 44 days of age. However goats reach elder at 27.5 days.
  2. Now Crabs are a pet you can get for combat but they are not just a tank Bonedog. They not only move but attack like that of an iron spider, and are a godsend in the Fog Islands as they can up and kill twice as meany Fogmen as you whole group can at an attack of only 40!

Not only this but they end up needing barely any medicare and sometimes none at all! Depending on toughness over half of any damage done to your crab will already be bandaged! Making them crowd clearing monster far more capeable then that of a heavy weapon user for clearing weaklings.

  1. Rather then having a Bonedog try creating a "Battle bull" not only will the bull help you out tuns in combat, when the time comes it can help you move your base.
  2. Player owned Bonedogs will not eat corpses, they will still eat limbs tho, just not as useful.
  3. Disabled limbs do not hinder animals very much if at all, and will never KO an animal. So if your just starting out and only have one guy and find your first few hits only hit a leg, it might be best to run.
  4. A fully loaded pack bull weighs the same as carrying anyone else, so if it gets KOd, or if you just want to navigate The Swamp or Fog Islands without troubles, this is how you do it.
(This also works with people carrying a lot of stuff.)
  5. You can use pack bulls as backpacks when carrying for stuff like mass looting. Just pick em up, click a corpse, click the bull portrait, shift click the loot.
  6. Picking up bulls is a good way to get them indoors. Why would you want them indoors? Their attack is an AOE and devastating when the enemy is clustered up, plus the enemy will likely have penalties fighting indoors but the bull won't. So drop em in your bakery and lock the door. Very good defensive strategy for enemies like the Black Dragon Ninjas or Stone Rats who will ignore combat in favour of raiding your food.
  7. Bulls can loot containers you own, so they're really useful for managing base resources.
  8. Any creature in game can be put in beds and repair beds. This can help a lot of you base is under near constant attack.
  9. Bonedogs in general are fairly slow, but even more so when small. This can lead to animal traders being a very slow group while going around Kenshi. And the same can go for your squad if you plan on buying one.
  10. Animals in Kenshi have a stat multiplier tied to age. This means that if your animal has 0.10 stats and has 5 attack. They will end up with 50 attack at 1.0. But lets say your pet has 12 attack at 0.10 your pet will have 120 attack. This applies to all stats, and is very useful when applied to toughness. Making animals able to shrug off small hits at higher levels.
