Tips for Minimizing Rage During Your First Playthrough
Saving
• You can bring up a file’s earlier save instances (backups) with W, in case you screw up a save and notice quickly. Use W to cycle through backups.
• You have 10 save slots, if you are doing your first run as a completionist, make a backup copy of your save file before entering a dungeon or Misty Woods for the first time.
• Once you enter any of these areas you won't be able to exit until completion, plan accordingly.
• Don’t overwrite a backup once you reach the next dungeon, keep it as a fail-safe in case you learn too late that you missed something earlier in the game.
• Once you release an element within a dungeon, expect the game to auto save right after.

Gameplay
• The more frustrating an item is to reach, the higher the odds that there’s an environmental change (or a skill) that lets you get it easily. Most of these changes occur after clearing a dungeon.
• That said, some items that seem inaccessible can be reached with high-precision double jumping on ledges.
• You can jump charge while hanging on walls, but you have to use A or D instead of W to charge.
• Door switches will always be close to their corresponding door.
• Holding spacebar allows you to swim faster.

Abilities
• Leave the Combat (orange) Ability tree for last as it is the least useful of all three trees, prioritize Utility (purple) if you're going for completion.
• You should never need to farm for ability points.
• Even if you complete the Utility tree, be aware that it won't show you everything. In fact, play on the premise that around 40% of the items will still be hidden from you until you move near them.

Gating
• The areas of the game that lock you out upon completion are
Ginso Tree
Forlorn Ruins and the adjacent lower portion of Valley of the Wind
Misty Woods during your first time in it.
Mount Horu
• Once you enter Mount Horu, you commit yourself to ending the game as it is and can no longer backtrack on the rest of the game.
• For 100% completion of Ginso Tree, you must have reached 82% by the time you are about to restore the element of Waters.
• Forlorn Ruins and Mt Horu can be completed 100% before restoring their elements.
• Don't rely on the completion gauge if you're exploring Misty Woods for the first time, it is meaningless.
