Understanding Movements
The Basics of Movements in DCUO
The Movements
Currently, DCUO provides the player with '4 Diverse Movement' styles which allows them to interpret the game whilst executing their choosen abilities. In the terms of a 'Free to Play' player the movement styles are limited to 3 whilst 'Legendary/Subscribed' players admittanced to the current 4 Movement styles.
The 'Free to Play' Movements range from:
- Super-Speed
- Flight
- Acrobatics
'Legendary/Subscribed' are entitled to another form of movement being:
- Skimming
This Guide will be broken down into 4 Sections:
- Guide (Currently Reading)
- Flight/Skimming
- Super-Speed
- Acrobatics
Additional information regarding Movements can be found in specific sections within this guide.

Flight and Skimming
Flight, favourited by many players; is a form of limitless levitation that can be used to maintain controlled heights and allows the player to travel with more freedom across their area of depiction. The additional movement 'Skimming' maintains all simularities as Flight and will be included also. Skimming features the same abilites as Flight although the positioning and style is changed (See Photos Below). Both Generally more controlable than Super-Speed and Acrobatics; Flight/Skimming provides multiple opportunities within the aspects of Combat and Exploration.
In terms of Combat, Flight can benefit in aspects of:
- Stronger and more diverse positionings during combat: Having a full 360* position access allows you to striike at any given position at any given time.
- Distancing from enemies: In most PvE/PvP interactions with enemies; the enemy is limited by its form of movement. In emergency situations such as low health or traveling to new objectives; Flight/Skimming allows an easy escape from enemies by allow you to travel distances/heights generally faster then Acrobatics and Super-Speed as they are limited to ground when in combat.
- Flight/Skimming comes with Combat abilities: Both allow you take advantage of enemies from distances such as abilites like 'Dive Bomb', 'DownDraft' etc.
In terms of Exploration, Flight can benefit in aspects of:
- Fast Height travelling: During exploration of environments; Flight/Skimming has the ability to gain incredible heights without the contact of surfaces allowing the player to leave or locate to new and higher location when compared to Super-Speed or Acrobatics.
- Smooth and easy to control: Unlike Super-Speed and Acrobatics, Flight/Skimming allows the player to choose their desired height and location without the contact of surfaces. Its simply movement allows quick, reliable and simpler movement unlike Super-Speed and Acrobatics which needs a constant form of surface and remains harder to control.
Both Flight/Skimming have disadvantages in Exploration:
- Not the fastest form of Movement: When compared to Super-Speed, it isn't as fast. In long distance on flat surfaces Super-Speed is faster although Flight allows the player to have a full 360* positioning to avoid obstacles.
- Grounding Effect: The 'Grounded Effect' affects your movement limiting you to running, this can affect combat abilities and your positioning on the situation. The effect can be worn off by breaking out but generally disappears over time.

Super-Speed
Super-Speed, favourited by players wanting a fast, energetic and noticable movement is Super-Speed. Super-Speed allows the movement of traveling/scaling long distances and heights across their area of depiction. Generally faster than Flight/Skimming and Acrobatics; Super-Speed provides multiple opportunities within the aspects of Combat and Exploration.
In terms of Combat, Super-Speed can benefit in aspects of:
- Super-Speed Combat Abilities: The varioty of abilites that Super-Speed offers presents a strong from of DPS and Stunning abilites allowing you to quickly take control when in combat. These abilites range from 'Tornado Pull', 'Whirling Dervish' etc.
- Quickened Response on Attacks: When planning a strike against enemies, the Super-Speed allows you to enter combat faster then any other form of movement. The range of entry is limited when compared to Flight and Skimming.
In terms of Exploration, Super-Speed can benefit in aspects of:
- Traveling Flate/Vertical Distances: Super-Speed remains the fastest form of movement when in contact with surfaces, during exploration Super-Speed travels futher then other movements when on surfaces.
Super-Speed does have disadvantages in Exploration and Combat:
- Difficulty in Small Environments: Super-Speed realises on consistant control to navigate environments. Due to the speed of the movement navigating small environments may remain a challenge as the possibility of scaling and misdirection of the player.
- Limited attack range when in Super-Speed: Super-Speed does not have the same access range and mobility when compared to Flight and its form of combat abilities.
- Grounding Effect: The 'Grounded Effect' affects your movement limiting you to running, this can affect combat abilities and your positioning on the situation. The effect can be worn off by breaking out but generally disappears over time.

Acrobatics
Acrobatics, favourited by players wanting a percise, adaptive, combatic and 'Parkour/Free Running' based movement. Acrobatics allows the movement of traveling/scaling long distances and heights across their area of depiction. Generally slower than Flight/Skimming and Super-Speed; Acrobatics provides multiple opportunities within the aspects of Combat and Exploration.
In terms of Combat, Acrobatics can benefit in aspects of:
- Percise Placement during Combat: Acrobatics allows the Player to position themselves upon surfaced areas whether this be during scaling ceilings or walls. This allows the player to strike from a larger range of positions when compared to Super-Speed.
- Acrobatics Combat Abilites: Acrobatics remains a movement that resembles features that humans can perform. Whilst using Acrobatics the player can perform melee and close range damage with the Combat abilities. Some of these abilities include 'Forward Flip', 'Back Flip' and 'Lauching Roll'.
In terms of Exploration, Acrobatics can benefit in aspects of:
- Free Running in Environments: Acrobatics is a Parkour/Free Running styled movement. Players can travel around by climbing and positioning themselves upon vertical and horizontial surfaces allowing new dynamics within exploring depicted environments.
- Ziplining Surfaces: Acrobatics provides a ability allowing Acrobatic Players to 'Zipline' across to distant horizontial and vertical surfaces.
- Rocket Assited Glide: Rocket Assisted Glide allows Acrobatic players the ability to glide at a fasten pace similar to flight, although Rock Assited Glide remains a less accurate form of fastened movement when compared to Flight.
Super-Speed does have disadvantages in Exploration and Combat:
- Slowest Form of Surface Movement: Acrobatics is slowest form of movement whilst on ground when compared to Super-Speed and Flight.
- Not as position accesable as Flight: Not having a 360* Combat Access limits the attack possibilites of the Player.
- Grounding Effect: The 'Grounded Effect' affects your movement limiting you to running, this can affect combat abilities and your positioning on the situation. The effect can be worn off by breaking out but generally disappears over time.
