What are we gonna need?

Skill: Bottom Fishing – 90% or higher.
Marker Rod – essential for accurate bottom readings.
Leader material: Based on my observations, the thickness of the leader does not play a decisive role—I had excellent bites even with leaders with a strength of 27 kg. I recommend using nylon, but you can safely experiment with fluorocarbon as well.
Zig-Rig Foam – I recommend purchasing single-colored foams in sizes 13-15 mm.
In-line Lead – match it to the bottom color (which you can determine using your marker rod, an indispensable tool).
Knowledge of Fish Locations – crucial for finding fish in their current habitat.

Go to a spot where carp are known to be present.
Set the clip on the marker rod and cast.
Wait for the float to rise and indicate the depth.
Determine the length of the hooklink based on the weather:
Divide the depth by 3 to get x

For lower temperatures:
x * 2.5 = hooklink length (if there is no bite at a given depth, reduce the leash by 10-30 cm)
For normal temperatures:
x * 1.5 = hooklink length
For higher temperatures:
x * 0.5 = hooklink length
If, according to your calculations, the leash should be longer than 1.5 m, feel free to set the maximum permissible length: 1.5 m.
Make the hooklink of the calculated length and mount it on the rod.
Choose the Zig-Rig setup and install the in-line lead.
Prepare the Zig-Rig setup: add foam and dip preferred for carp in your water.
- It’s recommended to set up 3 different combinations at first to determine the most effective one.
Wait for the bite and enjoy the process of reeling in the fish.

Choosing Foam Color

Upper layers: Dark foam (e.g., black or dark brown) is highly visible to fish against the sky, especially in sunny weather, creating a natural contrast.
Middle layers: Two-tone foam is used for experimentation, as it combines the properties of both bright and dark tones, attracting fish under various lighting conditions.
Lower layers: Bright foam (yellow, orange, white) helps highlight the bait in low visibility conditions, such as murky water or dark bottoms.
If, at low temperatures, carp are biting at a specific spot, for example, on a hair rig, try using Zig Rig foam of the same color as the boilies and adding the same dip. This will most likely work.
Setup with artificial corn: Choose foam either to match the color of the artificial corn or in a contrasting color. For yellow artificial corn, yellow foam works well, or you can use contrasting colors such as black, white, or red. I recommend starting with yellow.
