1 SIMPLE TRICK TO AVOID A MONSTER(Cistern Entrance - Morgue)

Literally just run to the door the moment you can move before the monster starts knocking on it, and you don't need to worry about them while you make a quick getaway(monster not spawned yet). It saves a minute or two, and the panic. Of course, you have to do this before the knocking, or else the door breaks and the monster spawns in immediately.

This works on hard mode as well, but just in case I would recommend saving before you use the item just in case you aren't able to move fast enough the first time.
