Overview 1

OK guys, this is my first guide. I'm pretty stoked about this and if you're actually looking at this that must mean that you clicked on my guide! yay! please say something in the comments if I don't make something very clear, because this IS my first guide after all (how many times have I said that already?). I will be keeping an eye out for advice from comments and will be updating the guide if something comes up. any feedback is appreciated!

oh and some real quick tips on the save games: in this guide i am going to show you how to get all of the achievements. however in order to get all of the achievements you will need to complete the game multiple times on the same save. when you finish the game for the first time, it will allow you to make a 00 Clear save. what this does is it saves all of your unlockables and achievement data so that you can select "Once again" from the main menu after loading the 00 Clear save and it will be as if you just start a new game with everything that you unlocked the last time you finished. i really hope this makes sense because it is kinda vital to the 100%

some people recommend that when you finish the game and and make the 00 Clear save that you keep overwriting the previous 00 Clear saves. doing this you will end up with a "master save" that has all of your progress on it. but if you really want to keep all of your 00 Clear saves, perhaps as battle trophies, you can (this actually what i did). ok! time for some achievements!

oh and there are probably some major spoilers ahead so proceed with caution if you have not played before.

for new players, and even forgetful veterans, this guide that i link here is really great for showing where to go in the game. it doesn't tell you overpowered strategies or spoil much of the story either. that is the best part, you actually get to play the game with the story as you follow the guide. it worked great for me.

Notes/Credits

i am making this section after the publishing of this guide for things i either didn't know or forgot to add but that thankfully people brought to my attention. thanks to all of the wonderful people who give me feedback on this guide, i want this guide to be as accurate possible!

1: perhaps you do NOT have to let Richard die to earn the "Bravo, Rebecca" achievement. when i played, i let Richard die and i got this achievement. but you may not have to! Credits to GPVR, Confirmed by Lavaris

Please leave a comment if you find anything inaccurate in the guide or discover a helpful trick or technique!

Difficulty Achievements

Like Taking Candy from a Baby
Finish the game on Very Easy difficulty or higher. Not in the Mood to Die!
Finish the game on Easy difficulty or higher. Take that, Zombies!
Finish the game on Normal difficulty or higher. Oh, the Horror!
Finish the game on Hard difficulty.

these achievements are earned by finishing the game on their respective difficulty, for example:
Like Taking Candy from a Baby is earned by finishing the game on the Very easy difficulty, and Oh, the Horror is earned by finishing the game on the Hard difficulty. HOWEVER if you finish the game on a higher difficulty the achievements for finishng the game on a lower difficulty will also unlock, for example for finishing the game on the Normal difficulty you will earn Like Taking Candy from a Baby, Not in the Mood to Die, and Take that, Zombies!.

The Survival Horror
Finish the game in Real Survival mode.

finishing the game on the Real Survival mode with any character will earn you this achievement. Real Survival mode is unlocked by completing the game at least once with both Chris and Jill on any difficulty on the same save.

Ghost of a Chance
Finish the game in Invisible Enemy mode.

finishing the game on the Invisible Enemy mode with any character will unlock this achievement. Invisible Enemy mode is unlocked by either finishing the game on the Real Survival mode or by completing the game on the Normal difficulty with both Chris and Jill

Easy Achievements 1

First Kills Are Special
Defeat a zombie.

this achievement is very easy to get and you will definitely get it as you play the game for the first time. all you have to do is attack one of the many zombies in the mansion as many times as it takes to kill it. you will know that you have killed it when you unlock the achievement and a large pool of blood spreads out from underneath it.

Seeing Red
Defeat a Crimson Head.

defeat a crimson head. after you kill a zombie, it will stand up again as a crimson head after a certain amount of time has passed (varies by difficulty, Very Easy taking a long time to spawn and Hard not taking very long at all). crimson heads are MUCH more dangerous than normal zombies so make sure that you remember which rooms you killed zombies in and didn't burn the bodies because a crimson head spawning when you are unprepared can spell you doom. there are two guaranteed crimson head encounters in the game, one of which does NOT count towards the achievement (boss crimson prototype). the other crimson head location is in the hallway where you get the golden arrowhead.

Getting Used To It
Die for the first time.

another achievement that you will almost certainly unlock. do i really have to explain this?

Not Taking Any Chances
Burn up a zombie.

burn a zombie's corpse with the lighter and kerosene so that it doesn't come back as a crimson head. the fuel canteen is found in the east wing storeroom on the floor. Jill has to find the lighter in the same room as the dog whistle, but Chris starts the game with it.

Break Out the Marshmallows!
Burn up two zombies at the same time with the lighter.

pretty much the same goal as the Not Taking Any Chances achievement except that you have to burn two zombies with one charge of kerosene. i found that the easiest place to do this was at the bottom of the stairs right outside of the east wing storeroom. this could take a few tries so make sure you save before you attempt this.

What a Great Guy
Save Jill using Barry.

this achievement can only be unlocked with Jill. the conditions for this achievement can be a little bit tricky because if you already talked to Barry in the main hall the second time and received the acid shells, then he will NOT be able to save Jill. but basically, when you pick up the shotgun and do not replace it with the broken shotgun, it will ready a trap in the room adjacent to you. when you leave the shotgun room, the ceiling will start to squish you. trying to exit through the doors will reveal them to be locked, and Jill will start yelling for help and Barry will come to her rescue netting you the achievement.

Delaying the Inevitable
Save Richard with a serum.

after getting the armor key you will have access to the room with Richard. there really isn't any big difference between how Chris and Jill approach this situation but if you are playing Chris, Rebecca will ask you to go and get the serum from the medical storeroom. now, i don't remember exactly how much time you have, but the only time i failed this was when i actually forgot about it. basically the timer is very generous and you have plenty of time to do this so long as you don't actually forget about it.

Not Waiting to Exhale
Survive your first encounter with Yawn.

the first time you find yawn, you will not actually be able to kill him. you have to make him retreat through the roof of the mansion. this is done by dealing lots of damage to him. i would heavily recommend the shotgun for this fight, as he is very tanky in the beginning. but be warned that if do do get hit by yawn you will have to go back to the medical storeroom to cure the poison with serum.

Grave Digger
Defeat a Crimson Head prototype1 using Jill. Not Just Any Object
Obtain the Stone & Metal Object using Chris.

these achievements are earned separately, but are essentially the same thing. Grave Digger is unlocked by killing the Crimson Prototype with Jill, whereas the Not Just Any Object achievement is unlocked by picking up the stone and metal object that is in the Crimson Prototype's coffin while playing as Chris.

Deep Sixed
Defeat mother Neptune.

this achievement can be earned with either character. when you drain the water in the aqua ring, you will now be able to access the bottom of the aqua ring. when you get to the far end there will be a metal box on a pipe on the platform next to the giant shark. when you try to take the key out of the box, the shark will bite at you and knock the key off the platform. then you push the little power thingy off the platform and pull the lever on the generator to earn the achievement.

Bravo, Rebecca
Save Chris using Rebecca.

this achievement can only be unlocked with Chris. you will not be able to get it if you saved Richard with the serum. Richard must die for this achievement. poor Richard. when you go to fight Plant 42 as Chris without saving Richard earlier in the mansion, Chris will be grabbed by Plant 42. Rebecca will then enter the room and Chris will throw a book at her and she will then leave the room and you will now have control of her instead of Chris. go and make V-Jolt as Rebecca, and then administer it to the Plant 42 roots in the aqua ring guard house. you should earn the achievement when the game shifts your control back to Chris. See Notes/Credits Section for More Info.

The Key Master
Obtain the Helmet Key using Jill. Herbicide
Defeat Plant 42 using Chris.

these achievements are earned separately but are pretty much the same thing. when you defeat Plant 42 as Jill, you will now be able to pick up the helmet key from the fireplace netting you the The Key Master achievement. when you land the killing blow on Plant 42 with Chris you will earn the Herbicide achievement.

Who's the Hunter Now?
Defeat a Hunter.

after killing Plant 42 and getting the helmet key you have to go back to the mansion. when you go back inside the mansion, take a few steps forward and a cutscene will play. this will spawn a hunter which you can now kill earning you the achievement. hunters are the most dangerous enemies in the game and i would recommend the magnum revolver for taking them down.

Easy Achievements 2

Giant Snake Got Nothin'
Defeat Yawn using Jill. Written Word is Dead
Obtain the "Last Book Vol. 2" using Chris.

these achievements are earned separately but are pretty much the same thing. you will earn the Giant Snake Got Nothin' achievement by killing yawn with Jill in the second encounter. you will earn the Written Word is Dead achievement when you kill yawn with Chris and then pick up the book that falls off the bookshelf.

That Was Nice of You
Save Rebecca from a Hunter.

when you unlock and enter the study with the metal object as Chris, you will hear Rebecca scream. now i don't know how much time you have because i did this first try, but Rebecca is in the same room as the dog whistle. by this time in the game the door next to the east wing storeroom should be repaired so you should be able to get there pretty quickly. when you get to the room Rebecca will be huddled in a corner with a hunter looming over her. the magnum revolver will make pretty short work of the hunter but the shotgun works fine as well. kill the hunter and as long as Rebecca is still alive, you will earn the achievement.

Spider Sense
Defeat Black Tiger.

this is a fairly obvious achievement, but ill try to explain anyway. in the tunnels beneath the mansion, there will an unavoidable short in-game cutscene of a MASSIVE spider crawling down the wall towards you. all you have to do is kill it to get the achievement. this can be done with either character. honestly this is a bit of a gimmick boss because with Chris you get a FLAMETHROWER to fight this thing. the fight only takes a few seconds with the flamethrower. with Jill you can just use the grenade launcher to two-shot the spider with two incendiary shells, again ending the fight in seconds.

Trust Him
Save Barry from Lisa Trevor.

this achievement can only be achieved (get it? :)) as Jill. when you get to the alter there will be a cutscene with Lisa and Barry, ultimately ending with a choice to either give Barry his gun back, which will allow him to survive and will net you the "good" ending, or to not give him his gun back, which will end in his death (poor Barry) and will net you the "bad" ending. give Barry his gun to earn the achievement.

An End to a Poor Girl's Misery
Defeat Lisa Trevor using Chris.

only achievable as Chris. you will get this achievement when you push the stones off of the alter and make Lisa jump.

Where the Magic Happens
Break into the laboratory using Jill.

you can only unlock this as Jill. just progress and get to the lab. simple as that.

Sorry About the Wait
Save Chris from confinement using Jill. Sorry I Made You Wait
Save Jill from confinement using Chris.

these two achievements are pretty much the same thing, the only difference being what character you are playing as. playing as Jill will net you the Sorry About the Wait achievements whereas playing as Chris will net you the Sorry I Made You Wait achievement. you will also have to be going for the good ending. that means that as Jill you have to give Barry his gun back, and as Chris you have save Rebecca from the hunter. regardless of what character you play you will have to get three MO disks and place them in MO transmitters across the lab. the first MO disk is in the mansion in the tiger statue room. you will need the yellow gem that you get in the room with the deer trophy/eagle statue puzzle. put the yellow gem into the tiger statue to get a MO disk. the other MO disks are in the lab on being right outside of the projector room and one inside the projector room (i think). there is a transmitter in the room with the refueling thingy, somewhere in the room that you climb through air ducts (don't remember exactly where), and in the boiler room with the red glow. after transmitting all of the MO disks, you will have to fight the tyrant phase one. when the self destruct system unlocks all doors you can go back and save whoever and earn your achievement.

I'm a Member of S.T.A.R.S.
Finish the game saving Chris and Barry using Jill. The Nightmare Ends
Finish the game saving Rebecca and Jill using Chris.

these achievements are pretty much the same. as Jill saving Chris and Barry will earn you the I'm a Member of S.T.A.R.S. achievement when you finish the game, and as Chris saving Jill and Rebecca will net you the The Nightmare Ends achievement when you finish the game. saving Richard does not count for this achievement because he is doomed regardless of what you do.

Alpha Team's Finest
Finish the game using Jill. You da Man, Chris
Finish the game using Chris.

finish the game with Jill to get Alpha Team's Finest, and finish the game with Chris to get the You da Man, Chris achievement.

Every Woman for Herself
Finish the game without saving anyone using Jill. Every Man for Himself
Finish the game without saving anyone using Chris.

finish the game with the respective character without saving anyone. again Richard does not count.

We're in This Together
Finish the game with Jill and Chris.

finish the game with both characters on the same save to unlock this achievement.

Much Harder Achievements

Every Nook and Cranny
Visit all places on all maps.

i wasn't sure of the exact requirements when i played, so i made sure that i cleared every area in the game to get the achievement just to be sure. i unlocked and passed through every door that i could, and i picked up every item. i'm not sure if this was overkill or not but hey, it worked right?

Ink is for Squids
Finish the game without saving.

you have to finish the entire game in one go to get this achievement. yes you just read that correctly. personally i would recommend not going for this achievement until you do the speedrun so that you have the rocket launcher. i would also recommend playing on the Very Easy mode because one little mistake can cost you everything.

Racing and Pacing
Finish the game in five hours. Don't Stop Running
Finish the game in three hours.

Racing and Pacing is earned by finishing the entire game in less than five hours, and Don't Stop Running is earned by finishing the game in less than three hours. personally, i think speedruns are pretty boring, so i decided to try to earn both at once. both of the achievements and weapons will be unlocked when you finish the entire game in less than three hours. i will be including a link for a great video speedrun guide later in the guide.

CQC FTW
Finish the game using only your knife.

finish the game without dealing a single point of damage (defense weapons included) with anything except the knife. uh yeah. that is basically it. Chris is the recommended character to use when going for this achievement because he doesn't stomp on any zombie heads unlike Jill, who stomps on zombie heads in a cutscene and when she gets grabbed by crawling zombies. with Chris the only thing that you need to worry about really is that he likes to squish bees with his bare hands. however, i only had this happen once and it was in the wind crest room when i wasn't doing the knife only run. i will be including a link for a good knife only guide later in the guide.

Starsenal
Obtain all weapons.

collect every weapon in the game on one save. this also includes the weapons that you get as rewards for doing the speedruns. the weapons are:

Normal in-game weapons:

Survival Knife
Handgun
Shotgun
Assault Shotgun
Grenade Launcher
Magnum Revolver
Self-Defense Gun
Flamethrower
Barry's 44 Magnum
Rocket Launcher

Speedrun:

Samurai Edge
Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher

Passion for Fashion
Obtain all costumes.

finishing the game twice with each character on the same save to unlock this achievement.

Overview 2

soooooooo after i finished the achievement list, i was like aww what the heck? i might as well be even MORE helpful and list all of the playthroughs that are required for the 100% as well. now i got the 100% achievements in six playthroughs. it is technically possible to get it in less, but it would be VERY difficult, and i didn't think it was worth the extra stress (i still don't).

Playthrough 1

ok so for the first playthrough i recommend using Jill on Easy mode. take your time and enjoy the game if this is your first time. save everyone. explore every room and collect all of the items for the Every Nook and Cranny achievement. there is no need to hurry this one so no pressure, take as much time as you need. ok so in this run you should aim for:

First Kills Are Special

technically Missable :)

Get Used To It

again technically Missable, but really now?

Not Taking Any Chances

Unmissable if you are following this guide

Playthrough 2

ok! so you beat resident evil for the first time? congratulations! now this is when things get tricky. run two is going to be with Jill on Normal mode, but this time we are going to be speedrunning! yay! the sub-three hour speedrun is the one we are going for, not the other one. i link a fantastic video guide.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=382577523

meanwhile, the achievements that you will be aiming at for this run are:

Racing and Pacing Missable. requires some effort, but as long as you follow the video guide you should be fine. after all
this IS the entire point of this run isn't it? :)
Don't Stop Running

see above achievement

Every Woman for Herself

Unmissable, story related

Take That, Zombies!

Unmissable IF you are following the guide

Playthrough 3

run three is again going to be with Jill, but now we are going to on Very Easy mode. by now you should have the rocket launcher (if you are following the guide) and it should be a trivial matter to get the Ink is for Squids Achievement as long as you make sure to pick up lots of defense weapons and beware of hunters (because they can still one-shot you even on very easy mode). the biggest difficulty with this run shouldn't be the game itself, but the fact that you actually have to sit down and play the entire game start to finish in one sitting (because you can't save or you void the achievement). the achievements that you are going for are:

Ink is for Squids

Unmissable as long as you don't save. just kick back and relax. go blow up some zombies!

Playthrough 4

run four is going to be with Chris on Very Easy mode. this run we are going for the CQC FTW achievement so you will not be able to deal damage with anything except the knife. this rules out other weapons, defense weapons, and squishing bees. don't save anyone (including Richard). try to fight as little enemies as possible. we don't do this with Jill because she is prone to stomping zombie heads and she is also much squishier than Chris and you will be taking a TON of hits during this run. also go ahead and let Rebecca use v-jolt on plant 42. i include a link for a knife only guide.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3313618749

ok so the achievements you should be aiming for are:

Not Just Any Object

Unmissable, story related

Bravo, Rebecca

Missable, but just forget about saving Richard and this shouldn't be a problem

Herbicide

Unmissable, story related

Written Word is Dead

Unmissable, story related

Starsenal

Unmissable as long as you have been following the guide

An End to a Poor Girl's Misery

Unmissable, story related

You da Man, Chris

Unmissable, story related

Every Man for Himself

Missable, but not if you follow the guide

We're in This Together

Unmissable if you are following the guide

CQC FTW

Missable yes, but considering that this is the entire point of the run...

Playthrough 5

now its time for Real Survival mode! after playing the game four times, this shouldn't really be all that hard. just know that enemies hit like trucks, there isn't really that much ammo, healing items are almost nonexistent, you won't be able to save as much as you could during the other runs, aiming is manual, and (this is the worst part) item boxes are not connected. ok so start Real Survival mode with Jill. the achievements that you are aiming for are:

Oh, the Horror

Unmissable as long as you have been following the guide

The Survival Horror

Unmissable as long as you have been following the guide

Playthrough 6

the final run is going to be on Invisible Enemies mode with Chris. like Real Survival mode, aiming is manual. however, you get to choose the difficulty (Very Easy mode is recommended), and the item boxes are connected. make sure you save everyone in this run. the achievements you are aiming for on your final run are:

That Was Nice of You

Missable

Sorry I Made You Wait

Missable

The Nightmare Ends

Missable

Passion for Fashion

Unmissable as long as you followed the rest of the guide

Ghost of a Chance

Unmissable as long as you followed the guide

Conclusion

Congratulations! you just got 100% achievements for Resident Evil! now you can brag to all of your friends that you played the whole game with a knife and also on Invisible Enemy mode!

thank you for following my guide! i have been contemplating making a guide for a while but i couldn't think anything that would be truly useful. but when i played this game i loved it so i wanted to get all of the achievements, so i looked for a guide but i couldn't find anything that actually told you HOW to get the achievements. so i figured that this is my chance to make a maybe semi-useful guide.

i really hope that this has been helpful and would really appreciate it if you give it a thumbs up or an award! I am going to be playing through the entire Resident Evil Franchise so who knows? maybe I'll see you again in another guide!

thank you to the wonderful people who's guides i linked! their guides helped me out very much when i played, and now when i feel lazy and don't want to take the time to explain things even more. this guide has taken me many hours to write. i think my butt has adhered to my chair.

as of 3/10/2026 i have another resident evil guide! i will link it here in case anyone wants to check it out along with any other resident evil guide that i make in the future. thank you all!
