Basic Gameplay: Generals & Nation Influence
Generals leads the way
Generals are playing a big Role in your Empire.
They are Leaders of your Armies and they are Leaders of your Nation.
An army must always have a Leader leading it, so having an army without a Leader or Admiral is a nogo.
As you can see, Leaders plays a bigger role than ever before.
First of all lets take a look at the left Avatar of an General when selecting him with the left Mouse click.
You can see his Head and under it you can see 3 small icons with numbers.
Authority
The Authority is representing the strength of the Generals character and the strength in leading forces in wartime - so a higher authority is better when it comes to battle. You should always send Generals with the highest authority in the battles - it will increase your chance to win.
Authority also protects you from authority-actions from agents - so more authority points a General have it will more protect him from sabotage actions.
Secret action / Cunning
Secret action shows how a General is knowing about strategy and tactics.
It also protects him from secret actions from agents.
A higher number of secret action points gives the General the ability to get more and better skills
in his skill tree, like a smaller cooldown time for his special-actions on battlefield ( like - 5 % cooldown time)
Devotion / Zeal
the Generals devotion will give you some bonusses to the army he is leading like 15% more damage to melee-combat weopons ( like swordsmean or spears ).
It also represents the Generals devotion to his Nation .
So more points meens he really would die for his Nation while lower points means for the right price he would betray his nation.
Effects,Skills and Household
Effects
When you look at the small yellow star under the Generals picture you can see a total of all his skills and effects he provides to the army.
This is a list of all Effects taking from his skills and households and also of his authority- secret actions- and devotion points.
Households
The households-cards can be earn after battles and you can really collect them and use them how you want- you will not loose them - when you go over the active household card you can also check another one to change the active skills by selecting another card.
Attainments
Attainments can also be earned after battles. You will earn experience-points in battle and when you have collected enough you will reach a new level. Then you can select new attainments or upgrade existing-ones.
The effects of Skills,Households and Attainments
When you move your mouse cursor over the cards you can see which effects this cards have- like reducing the enemy's moral minus 5 % or adding more damage to your weapons.
A total of all is shown when you look at the yellow star under the generals picture - shown in the first picture in this chapter " effects, skills and household "
To increase the strength of a general so you have to:
- Fight more battles
- Win more battles
- Gain more experience-points during battle by killing more units with the generals-unit on battlefield
- taking over cities
- promote the general ( more later about this)
Ambition and Gravitas
The ambition of a General will influence how much his Gravtias will take effect in his Nations-influence-
The Gravitas shows the power of a General in his Nation-Group - you can promote him to increase his gravtias -
When a nation Group have many Characters with high Gravitas the strenght of that Group will be higher in your Senate.
So if you want to push your clan to the top of your nation, you will need more Generals with higher Gravitas than other clans have.
You can earn and loose Gravitas points by winning or loosing battles or by completing missions or not completing them.
A General with more Gravitas have more to decide as a General with lower Gravtias - so its up to you to take control over the political-situation and how the decisions you make will be handled in your senate - accepting or rejecting , which can cause to revolts within the senate
Recruiting
Recruiting normal Army
To recruit untis - you first have to select a general and then click on the recruit button in the middle lower bar -
Your general must definitely be in one of your territories to recruit units ! Dont forget that when marching into enemy territories !
There may be more than one unit will be recruited per round - but the types of units that can be recruited depends from the buildings in your province where your General is standing - so better military buildings means better troops that can be recruited by a general.
You can recruit available troops by clicking on them - then they will shown in your army a bit grayish with a numer on it - this is how much turns it will take till they are finally recruited and really in your army.
Recruiting Mercenarys
Mercenarys can be recruited everywhere on the map - even in enemy territory - but they are expensive and they have high monthly costs!
their advantage is that there is no waiting time until they are in the army and that you can recruit them in front of an enemy city.
Political strength and Gravtias
Generals and Politics
When you click the Nation-Overview button you can see your Generals and politicals on the left side.
If you recuit a new General he will also appears here in this list -
In the right info window you can see how many armies you have and how much you can recruit - which always means how many generals you can recruit an how much you have .
By conquering more cites and winning more battles you can gain more imperial points which allows you to recruit more generals and armies.
At the second imperium stage for example, you can control 6 armies !
Promoting a General
After some time when a General is a few levels higher he can be promoted.
A promoted General will gain more gravtias points which means more influence in his clan but also means some dislikes from the other clans in your nation - which - as you already knows- can cause in revolts from the the other clans.
So why promoting him ? Because when you move with the mouse over the promote button you can see a popup-info that shows you the new rank and the effects- like gaining some melee combat bonusses.
The other clans and families in your nation can also promote their members by themself - AI controlled - so that they will gain more influence in your nation. This can make your own clans or familys influence smaller !
After you have promoted a General you will see a small window with an info about that promotion and if it have end in an revolt ;D
As you can see the gravitas is now 27 insteand of 12 as it was before promotion, and the Clans- Influence was 70% before and is 72% now -
which means your Generals position in his clan was raised and the overall influence of his Clan in his nation is also raised -
The Power of the other clans was 30% and is now 28% -
thatswhy they dislike your general a bit more .
Earning more Gravitas points with your favourite family or clan members means earning more Influence for them and will reduce the influence of other clans and families in your nation- keep that in mind !
General Tactics
Positions on the map
It is up to you where you move your Generals and their armies - but you should protect your land and conquer some new territories - and you have just a limited amount of armies -
so you will have off and deff armies or you will make a blitzkrieg and destroy a whole fraction at once - its up to you
Position in battle
When clicking on a generals unit you can see a blue circle around it which shows you the generals influence area.
The influence area will boost the morale and fighting will of all units who are in this area and also when activate some general-skills this will only affect units in his influence area-
The General also have some skills later in game process that he can learn that will only affect some single friendly or enemy unit and boosting their fighting skills or increase the enemies fear.
Agents
Agents can be deployed in your army and they will give your army and your general some extra bonus like gaining more experience for your Soldiers and other cool stuff.Try it out !
The last words...
From now on you should know enough about Generals and how they influence your Nation and Armies -
i wish you much fun with the game and be god with your troops ! :D
