Basic's and reset guide dungeon defenders 2 2026

Hii and welcome to my own guide for DD2 :3 This is my own experiance about dd2, what to do as a new player or a returning player or just a fresh reminder what to do :3

As i have noticed lately for the what newer players is that dd2 can be confuseing ,the game doesnt rly tell u what to do after campaign( or we ppl dont listen and skipp/ ignore the whole tutorial XD )
Aaanyways :P XD.. *cough* so i do this guide in sections i start with the basic's and then go on for the rest and hope this maybe usefull for u guys :3

The Basic's what to do after campaign:

So after u finish campaign u will be send to town ( so far i can remb XD ) and now u stareing at the abyss aka The Table or the ground :P and wonder whats next.. >..<*
So if i remb correctly u have some campaign gear u got from the tutorial i cant remb the gear score but i think u can enter chaos 1 at expodition once u enter the table and press E on keyboard( dont know about the Xbox controller ) now u see a bunch of diff name at the top of the map screen

Anyways for a beginner just explore the maps and build whatever u like cause there are no " bad" towers nor heroes ,in my opinion every hero and tower can be strong as long u know how to shard them( shards u can put in relics and gear/ weps) i always say just test things out and see whats sticks for u :3 take your time exploring the game at your own pace, yesh u may see or join " high" lvs players and u can prob ask them about somethings about dd2. Do keep in mind that dd2 is a grindy game and it will take some time to learn/ be or get " powerfull" aka good towers / geared and how to setup your towers at maps. ( try copy other ppl their setups and ask what shards they use)

Now u may ask your self my ascension stats are low 99 is the max how can i be stronger ?
Or may think why am i " bad" at this game... and i will say your not :3 to put it simple no one
is "good" at a game when they start a completly new game so u can throw why am i bad at this
right out of the window( figurely speaking XD)

The Resets:

Aka getting stronger towers/ heroes.
Where to reset : Green NPC guy or wizard XD in town or at tavern. At tavern is when u spawn in its next left of u at the small stairs. As for at town ask people or youtube it XD

So as a fresh starter u may wonder why u getting slow pace exp and levels and the reason for that
seems like everything go's in slowmo( slowmotion) and my answer is yesh and no XD

Yesh things go a bit slower at lower levels and no once u done the 1st reset (and more)
it will go faster :3
Soo u may wonder how to use the reset option/ thing XD and its quite simple but the game doesnt realy tell u on how and when( so far ik ) so to get your 1st ever reset there are a few things u should know about it:

1: U only can reset once u get the lv 250 and do 1 chaos 9 map expedition ( before u reset)
if u dont do the chaos 9 map ( or higher) u wont get the max out of it as in ascension level and points. 3.2k level and 1.2k ascension points ( so far i can remb) XD

Although it isnt wrong if u didnt do the chaos 9 map u will miss some stats points or ascension points for your towers/ heroes stats/ skills. dont worry to much about it since u will gain them while playing the game.

The main reason u need to do that is it give's u a boost for the onslaught floors
since it will skipp u to the onslaught floor of 299 and it will say beaten, without u has done much of those floors. it also give's u the higher ascension levels + stats :3

Another reason is it will help u out with the later resets since the game will tell u to do a certain amount of floors before u can do another 1 Howeverrr XD with this mechanic that u did before u wont have to do the onslaught floors for a while , with the exception of getting gear/ gearscore.
To put it simple after reset do onslaught floor for example chaos 3 and again just join random people their maps XD and do the floors untill u get around 4-5k gearscore( just auto equip gear)

After u have the gearscore of 4-5k join other people Survival maps that start at wave 26+ dont worry to much if u gettin chaos 5 dropps u get better and higher dropps once u get to higher wave's at survival ( altho it may take a while ) unless u have the dd2 gods with u :P ( always auto equip after each wave done )

Anyhows once u get a score of 7850 aka chaos 8 u can leave survvial and do a chaos 8 expedition
map (by now u already know join other people maps ) XD and dont worry your thinking about
leeching and feeling "useless" cause u cannot help "thats just the way it is ( for now :3)

So once u finish the chaos 8 map u can go back to town or tavern and talk to the Green NPC
and press reset. This method u will do up until the 38 resets.

Now 1 of the most important thing about resets... whatever u do, do not and i will repeat DO NOT
upgrade your campaign gear cause after every reset all gear/ relics and shards will go back to what i called " baby" level or campaign level XD Now u may wonder why da friggle that mechanic is in the game? XD so far ik( i know ) is to make it less easy but i cannot say thats the main reasonXD

Another reason u dont upgrade your gear/ relic and shards is it will cost u a Fortune at the long run
since upgradeniig gear/ relics/ shards isnt cheap >.< and thus since u reset u will " loose"
a very large amount of your hard earned gold (unless u are wanna spend real money:P )
nevetherless its still a waste to buy in game gold with real money since u can farm gold quite easy later on or sell items in the shopp.

Now u also may think after reset i can't beat the onslaught floors and nobody is hosting a map..
well u can do 2 things 1 is wait.. XD untill some1 is hosting a map and 2 just do a lower chaos to start and climb your way up to a higher chaos floor( meaning onslaught floors) u also may wonder isnt it faster to do normal maps aka expedition after reset? and my answer to that is no XDD
the simple reason is after reset u start at chaos 1 expedition while onslaught u can start at choas 2 or even 3.

While onslaught floors hasnt have a restriction do keep in mind at the lower resets level
and your planning on joining a higher floor onslaught(200+) it may take some time before u get some chaos 1/2 or 3 gear and there's a chance u get campaign level gear.
so it has no realy use doing or joining a higher onslaught floor and just do the lower onslaught floors for gaining the gearscore.( for now )

To put it simple higher gearscore means higher gear dropps..
Means eventualy higher onslaught floors and better gear dropps( relics doesnt count for gearscore)
Oke so a short version is after your 1st resets is:

1 Do onslaught.
2 get gearscore around 4k+
3 Go to survival and wait till u get the 7850 gearscore( chaos 8 )
4 Once u have the gearscore of 7850 leave survival and do 1 chaos 8 map expedition.
5 Reset after finish chaos 8 and repeat those earlier steps :3
6 Always auto equip gear/ relics after and sell the old one's unless it has a +9 mod on it
the 2 or 3 slots on a relic and keep those.

These steps get u to resets level 38+ ( and reset will go faster once u have higher resets in )
Around reset 10 it will go faster since u can start at a higher onslaught floor.
Dont be shy to ask other people for help or joining them do keep in mind people dont like when u stand on the crystal ( doesnt matter wich form the crystal is ) dont go AFK unless u type in the chat your AFK XD and only press G when the main builder pressed G XD

Overall just use your common sense and watch some vids about dd2 on youtube :3
I always suggest to watch MrJuicebags his vids since he is the OG of dungeon defenders games
