"Computing with Style" / "Beauty Is Pain" made easy in 2025

The achievements "Computing with Style" and "Beauty is Pain" require you to play a multiplayer match with one piece of Robotic Armour and Cyber-Demonic Armour equipped respectively.

Simple, right? Unfortunately not. Unlocking just the challenge to unlock one piece of Robotic Armour requires you to reach Echelon Level 5 i.e. reaching level 50 five times. At the speed that you gain XP in multiplayer and the kind of players you'll face, this will take a long time. And that's just Robotic Armour, Cyberdemonic Armour starts unlocking at Echelon 8.
This will require quite a lot of grinding which can be frustrating when you are barely making any progress because:

• your FPS skills aren't good
  
• there are no servers
  
• other players are steamrolling you giving you little chance to gain XP

If you don't mind modifying your game to make getting achievements easier, keep reading.

Normally, you gain XP in multiplayer lobbies (public or private) only. However, DOOM has a hidden setting that allows for completing challenges and gaining XP in Practice Mode, where it's just you versus bots. We will be using a mod to re-enable DOOM's developer console and change this setting. From there it's smooth sailing.

Beware: Since the most recent update (2024-04-11) the Doom Legacy mod will no longer work, however we can still downgrade the game to the previous version to use the mod. To downgrade DOOM follow this guide[www.pcgamingwiki.com].
Once you've done that you will need the DoomLegacyMod (DLM) which you can download from PCGamingWiki.com's website. Right here.[community.pcgamingwiki.com]
Click [Download this file], agree, and download the file called "dinput8.dll".
Move this file to your DOOM folder. If you don't know where that is, go to your Steam Library, right-click on DOOM and click on "Browse Local Files..." .
Now right-click on DOOM, go into "Properties" and add
to the game's launch options.

That's it for the setup.

Now that you're all set up it's time to earn XP. Launch DOOM and go to the multiplayer menu. Make sure that you have the Bounty Rune, it will speed the whole process up quite a bit.
Go to Practice Mode > Match Settings and change the settings accordingly:

• Map : doesn't matter
  
• Game Mode: Deathmatch
  
• Score Limit: 50
  
• Time Limit: 20 minutes
  
• Minimum clients: 10
  
• Bot skill: Easy

Now start the game and start fragging. At 50 frags needed to win, the Bounty Rune will generate an additional 5000 XP, that's an entire level more every game.
If you want to get there even faster, press the [~] key (the one to the left of the [1] key) to bring up the console and type in " metrics_xpmultiplier 10 " .
You will unlock the Robotic Armour pieces naturally around the same time you unlock the challenge to unlock the first Cyberdemonic Armour piece: Get a 15 killstreak! This should be quite easy with the easy difficulty bots. Once you have unlocked one piece of each set, simply equip one of each and join a public match. As soon as the match starts the achievements will trigger.

Multiplayer achievements are h o r s e s h i t if they depend on other players actions.
