Crashing on Startup Fix

Ok. So this is a simple fix for KotOR if you manage to get the game running but it crashes during the opening logos. You may have heard that all you need to do it turn off the movies for the game and it will fix the issue. This may be true, however you do miss out on all of the cinematics that don't use the ingame engine. This fix will simply get rid of the opening company logo movies, which was what was causing the problem for me.

1. Locate the folders for the game. The easiest way to do this is go to your Steam Library, right click on KotOR and click on properties. Click on the third tab at the top that say "Local Files" then click on the first button that says "Browse Local Files.".
2. Once you see all of the game folders open up the folder called "movies".
3. Next cut and paste the following files into a different location in your computor, not in any KotOR folder. The files are:
1. biologo.bic
2. leclogo.bic
3. legal.bic
4. At this point I would also reccomend making sure you run the game client in compatability mode. There are more in depth guids for this elsewhere, but quickly what you need to do it right click on the game client, click on properties, go to the compatability tab, click run in compatability mode, and pick Windows XP. Which service pack you use should not make a difference. If one dosen't work try the other.
5. Next time you start the game up it should go right to the menu screen bypassing the logo movies that caused the crash. Again, I want to stress that this game has many issues and that this method worked for me, but it may not work for you. I hope that it does and that you get to play this awesome game.
