DISABLE VAC. INSIDE THE GAME SETTINGS

The 2026 Dying Light Modding Guide
Step 1: The "Anti-Ban" Toggle (DO THIS FIRST)
Before touching any files, you must disable the Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) inside the game settings.

Launch Dying Light.

Go to Options > Online.

Set VAC Secure Game to OFF.

Set your Game Type to Single Player or Friends Only.

Note: The game will now allow mods and prevent you from accidentally joining a "clean" public server where you could get flagged.

Step 2: Find Your Mod
Go to Nexus Mods (Dying Light). Popular mods like "I Am Legion" or "All Items in Shops" usually come in a .zip file containing a file named Data3.pak.

Step 3: The "Drop and Swap"
Right-click Dying Light in Steam > Manage > Browse local files.

Go into the folder named DW.

You will see a file named Data3.pak. Rename it to Data3_Original.pak (this is your backup).

Drag and drop the Data3.pak from your downloaded mod into this folder.

🛡️ Safety & Multiplayer
VAC Safety: As long as that "VAC Secure Game" toggle is OFF, you are 100% safe from bans.

Co-op with Friends: To play together with mods, every person in the lobby must have the exact same mod files installed. If they don't, the game will simply refuse to connect.
