Dynasty Warriors 8: The Ultimate Controller Guide
Getting Started
Okay, so you purchased Dynasty Warriors 8, and your controller isn't working at all or not working correctly. Well the reason for that is because the button configuration is all screwed up! Let's fix that!
Make sure your controller is powered on before you start up the game, as some games won't recognize controllers that are powered on or connected before the game has started up.
Also, this guide pertains to Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers, though if you have a PS3/PS4 Controller you can follow this guide too, but you might have to improvise when it comes to selecting a good button configuration.
Okay, so let's dive right in!
Mapping the Controls
So mapping the controls is pretty simple. Go to Options, Controller, and P1 Settings.
Press F12 to clear all of the preset controller configurations so you have a blank slate to start adding buttons!
Then map the buttons to the following:
If you have a PS3/PS4 Controller, most of the buttons will be simmilar, but instead of ABXY it'll be Square, X Triangle, etc...
FAQ and Guide Conclusion
I hope this helps anyone who's having trouble with the controller in this game. Once this is set up, the game works perfectly and is a lot of fun! Now let's address some controller issues that are common.
QThe Game isn't detecting my controller!
AMake sure to power on or plug in the controller BEFORE starting the game as the game might not recognize the controller if the controller is powered on after the game is started. The best fix for this is to restart your game.
QI did that, and it still won't detect it!
ACheck your Windows Device Manager and make sure Windows is detecting it.
QWindows Says it's there dude!
ATry right clicking the controller in the device driver and uninstall then reinstall the device driver. This should fix the issue.
QWhy isn't the A button Jump?
ABecause the confirm button is bound to the Muosu Attack, and the Jump Button is the designated back button. I made jump B, as it's logical when exiting menus to press B instead of A. If this bothers you in gameplay, just simply swap the buttons. I personally prefer B being jump however. But this guide is to help you and you can easily map the buttons however you want!
