in AC IV BF the enemy pirates dont hear your footsteps so when 1 is turned around Start running towards your destination and keep in mind that even if you are in a restriced area guards or Pirates will get suspiocs if you just run at least 10 meters away from them.

The controls for AC IV BF are pretty simple (Shift) is to run W is to walk D is walk right A is to walk left and S is to go down and (Assasinate) is Left Mouse Button (LMB) And (Air Assasination) is just Spaace and Left Mouse Button (LMB)

This video shows you what a closet looks like and how to use the closet to your advantage and i would say that the closet is a better entity is AC IV BF because a enemy cant go in the closet with you unlike when your hiding in vegetation they can just go in the vegetation and just look out for you.
