How to play Human: Fall Flat online in Linux

Hello, and welcome to my guide on how to play Human: Fall Flat online in Linux. Currently, when you try to play online with your friends, the game will give you an error about its version. This is because the GNU/Linux support was removed in 25 October 2018.[www.gamingonlinux.com] You can view the change on steamdb.[steamdb.info]

Here is the error that you will get after trying to connect to a server:

Connection Failed
Incompatible versions
server: v1.4a0 2617
client: v1.4a0 2617

The native GNU/Linux build is an older version. You need to use Proton[www.protondb.com] in order to download and use the game's latest version. This will solve the problem.

All you need to do is going to your game library and right clicking Human: Fall Flat and selecting properties. From there, you can select Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and then you can select the Proton version for your game. I am currently using the latest version but if it crashes your game, you can try other versions too.

This should solve the problem. If it doesn't work, then you can try again by changing the Proton version. This should not work if you have chosen Steam Linux Runtime.

So, that's all you have to do if you want to play with your friends who use Windows or Mac OS.
