Kotor combat movement fix
Introduction
KotOR was made many many years ago, in a time where having a 60 hertz (hz) monitor was most likely the pinnacle of refresh rate for a monitor of those times. KotOR was made using 60hz and as such most features will only work properly at 60 frames per second (fps) and below.
Issues
The most common problem people find is that they try to run Kotor on their 144hz monitor and then can't move after combat. Sure, a quick save and quick load can fix that movement problem easily, but it can also lead to other game breaking glitches later in the game.
The Simple Fix
I run Kotor on a 144hz monitor, but I set the game's refresh rate to 60hz and use V-sync keeping the game at a steady 60fps and have never had a single issue. And in all my time playing Kotor I seriously have only ever run into this combat movement glitch (and this is the only issue I have ever run into) once and that was only when I tried to run on my new monitor at 144hz thinking it would improve visuals. This is quite a simple game so just keep that frame rate to 60 fps and you'll run it with flying colours!
Widescreen Causes No Issues
It is worth mentioning that I also run the game in Widescreen full time using Uni-WS. Here is my guide below on running that as it is far superior to FWS.
