Ol' Shoshone Achievement Guide

IMPORTANT: If you've already gotten the tape of Ol' Shoshone and didn't get the achievement, then this section is for you. If you don't know how to find the tape, skip to the next section.

This method should work for any bugged achievement, but you may have to redo the achievement after Step 4. You should not lose your savegames. Well, here's how I unlocked it:

Step 1) Try to get the achievement (see next section)
If you follow those steps and it doesn't unlock, then it's bugged.

Step 2) Right-click Firewatch in your Steam library, then click "Properties..." > "Local Files" > "Browse..."

Step 3) Delete the folder "Firewatch_Data"

Step 4) Again, right click Firewatch in your library, then "Properties..." > "Local Files" > "Verify integrity of game files...". Wait for the files to download and then press Play and continue the save you "unlocked" the achievement(s) in.

Step 5) Aaand that's it! The achievement should pop up automatically at this point. If not, you may have to try unlocking it again.

Now, here's what to do ingame to unlock (or attempt to) Ol' Shoshone! I recommend doing this before you follow the first part of the guide.

First, start a new game in Free Roam (this will make it easier). You'll also need to bring the axe. Go up the Thorofare trail from your tower, then veer left like this:

Look for a dead elk with a tracking collar, and once you see that you just have to clear away some brush with your axe and you're at the place! The tape will be next to a camping chair with a note on it. Grab the tape and hold E to save it, and the achievement should pop.

Note: forgot to say this earlier but you do NOT have to listen to the tape, you just need to save it
