Secret group guide
Where to send proof
If you have already completed the secret challenge, and just don't know where to submit it, then post a link of the video with a steam profile link of each of the members that participated on OVERKILL_Sebastian's or Cloaker Hater's steam page and request an invite to join the secret group on the group's steam page. Only request an invite if you have followed the rules and completed the challenge. Random requests or unfinished/improper runs will not be accepted.
There is no telling how long it will take for you to be accepted or denied. I've seen a submission get accepted in 1 day. I've seen many more take 1 or 2 months. Just be patient.

What is the Secret group?
This one. It's a locked group so you can only get into it through an invite. You will only get an invite if you complete the challenge. Being a member grants access to the secret masks.

To wear the masks you must be a member of the group, and have the OVERDRILL achievement.

Requirements
You will need the Golden mask, the beta build of Payday: The Heist, some method of recording your entire overdrill heist, and a lot of time.
Here is a good guide on how to play 145+ with level guides too. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=121969494&searchtext=145%2B
If for some reason you are unable to use the beta build you are allowed to use a mod to adjust the drill time to 2 hours. Dorhud has an option for this in its download section. Only those who have the mod installed will start the drill at 2 hours instead of 33 minutes, so be aware of that.
Golden Masks
The golden mask is only unlocked after you beat the original 6 heists on overkill 145+ difficulty. Which is avaliable after reaching level 145.- First World Bank
- Heat Street
- Panic Room
- Green Bridge
- Diamond Heist
- Slaughterhouse

Beta build
To enter the beta build- Right click on Payday: The Heist in your steam library
- Click properties
- Go to the beta tab in properties
- Enter the code duckandcover
- Click the drop down arrow and select beta - pre-launch testing
If for some reason you are unable to use the beta build you are allowed to use a mod to adjust the drill time to 2 hours. Dorhud has an option for this in its download section. Only those who have the mod installed will start the drill at 2 hours instead of 33 minutes, so be aware of that.
Recording
As long as the secret run is recorded and uploaded it doesn't really matter what is used to record it. I personally use have used several different methods such as my graphic card's own recording software and obs, a free streaming/recording software. As long as the video shows the heist and is re-playable through a direct website link it doesn't really matter. I've even seen some players use Twitch vods.Update
All players need to record their perspective of the secret run now. More info was added to the requirements section.
Disqualifications
This section is not a guarantee. OVERKILL_Sebastian and Cloaker Hater can accept or deny any attempt they want for any reason. These are only things I have heard first and second hand. Any and all of them can change at any time. If for some reason one is wrong, please let me know so I can change it.
Update
Cloaker Hater has updated his list of rules. To save time for everyone I'm just going to copy them here so there is no confusion. Here is a link to his list of rules.Requirements
- The challenge must be completed on the Overkill 145+ difficulty.
- The drill must take two hours to finish.
- All gold must be taken from the overvault.
- The heist must be completed successfully.
- All players must be alive at the end (team AI is excluded).
- All players must wear a golden mask (team AI is excluded).
- All players must record a video of full secret run completion.
- All important moments must be shown on at least 1 video. These include triggering the overdrill, setting up the drill with a 7200s timer, taking ALL gold and escaping. Different moments may be on different videos (for instance if different players set the drill and enter the puzzle code).
- The videos have to be available on a video sharing website such as YouTube.
- You should post links to both the videos and the crew members’ steam profiles on Cloaker Hater's Steam profile.
- After successfully completing the challenge in compliance to these rules, a join request should be sent for the PAYDAY: The Secret Steam group.
- The videos should be still available after getting into the Secret group. If you are using YouTube, you can set it to access by link or only available for Cloaker Hater ( [email protected] ) if you don't want them to be publicPermitted
- Rejoining the game after losing connection, crashing or to fix some bugs appeared in the game.
- Having team AI spawn in with different masks after someone loses connection. Players that rejoin should always wear the golden mask.
- Using the beta build of the game or a mod for 7200 seconds on drill timer.
(The mod linked also requires DAHM/DorHUD) - Using mods that do not alter the gameplay and don't provide any additional information.
- Having VAC or game bans on Steam.
- Having weird PDTH statistics on Steam. But you should at least have beaten the 6 original heists on the Overkill 145+ difficulty. I can ask you to remake any 145+ heist(s) (not remaking the secret run itself) if i think that it's needed.
- Trading hostages. This is just a part of the gameplay, but somehow a lot of people asked if it is allowed or not.
- Using any FOV (and aiming FOV) values in the game. This is just a game option.
- Breaking the video into several parts because of disconnects, crashes or just demo versions of recording software. The framerate and resolution of the video are not important as long as you're able to make out what's happening.
- Using bags as cover: hiding behind them, NOT inside.
- Having team AI in custody at the end of the heist. If someone had to leave before the completion of the heist, it’s fine to play with team AI as long as all real players live to escape. The player that had to leave will be disqualified for not having played the full heist.
An exception : if the real player is in custody during escape and (s)he leaves, the run will be still rejected. - Playing with people who are already in the secret group.
- Rejoining after a disconnect without the golden mask equipped by accident. As long as you realize this mistake and fix it quickly by disconnecting and rejoining again with the golden mask it will be fine.
Forbidden- Cheating and abusing bugs/glitches including using god spots like sitting under the table in manager’s room (in the Beta version) or inside bags. It's hard to describe the line where it becomes unacceptable but let's say if the tactic bases on using god spots i'll certainly reject the run. Interactions through the walls ARE allowed.
- Having a drill timer that takes less than 7200 seconds, even if you wait the full 2 hours before entering the overvault.
- Using any mod that changes the gameplay (for both host and clients).
To make it more clear, the following features are NOT allowed on the secret run:
- Hitmarkers
- Enemies Health bar or any enemies indicator
- Enemies counter (the amount of alive enemies on the map)
- Dot, crosshair or any other weapon sight during bleedout
- Assault timer if it counts down to the exact time.
- Free flight camera
- Scripts for suicide
- Disabling smoke effects - Playing on custom Overkill 193+ is allowed only if full ammo respawn after custody is disabled. Use ovk_193_ammo_respawn = false, config option in user.lua file for that.
- Changing weapons, crew bonuses, perks or deployables while rejoining the lobby.
- Changing masks after a disconnection and not correcting it quickly. Tip to prevent this belowFrom Sebastian himself
OVERKILL_Sebastian Jan 16 @ 5:06am
"The rules haven't been completely clear here either, but this makes it an excellent time to write some down.
So for an invite to PAYDAY: The Secret, I want you guys to finish the heist, i.e. get in to the vault, take all the gold and get out. Since you don't have to carry bag-by-bag in PAYDAY: The Heist. It's only a minor time addition to do so.
The team has to successfully finish the mission to be eligible for an invite. Which means you can't be in custody or downed.
You should always play using the beta-build of PAYDAY: The Heist when possible, some few users can't get this version to run and are thus allowed to use the mod that changes the drill time to 7200 seconds."Quickly putting on the golden mask after a disconnectIf you lose connection and rejoin make sure to check that you are rejoining with the golden mask. You can do this easily by first selection single player, changing to the golden mask, then rejoining the heist. Golden masks must be worn at all times.
- Rejoining the game after losing connection, crashing or to fix some bugs appeared in the game.

This is purely my own recommendation. You are free to use what ever you want.Primary
- Reinbeck
- M308
- Bronco
- Compact-5
- GL40
- 2 Medic bags
- 2 Ammo bags
- 2 Aggressor*
- 2 Big Game Hunter
- Protector (If 3 or more players do not have the wolf pack dlc.)
Why I recommend these items
Skip if uninterestedThe M308
It's a great weapon for any situation. Strong, accurate, and fast firing. It's not flawless in that it can be tough to maintain ammo long term without draining ammo bags.
The reinbeck
For the long hold out of an overdrill this weapon is great. It has fantastic ammo pickup and it does just the right amount of damage. From the manager's desk to the hallway it still will one shot headshot a heavy swat unit. One shot to the chest will set them up for an intimidation for a hostage trade. Two shot cloakers and tasers to the head and one shot shields to the head with aggressor. Bringing two reinbecks isn't a bad idea.
The bronco
I don't need to say why.
The compact-5
You should honestly only be using this if you don't have the Wolf pack dlc. Nice range and good for intimidating cops due to its low damage.
The GL40
I also don't need to say why.
Medic and Ammo bags
One bag for when you're camping and another bag for when you're emptying the vault and making your way to the escape. Having two of each is highly recommended.
Aggressor
Two aggressors for Overkill 145+ is very useful. You should always have two when playing on 145+.
Big Game Hunter
More ammo will make let the ammo bags go further due to how they function.
Protector
This one isn't one you should really be using but it's not that bad. Saving health is a really important thing to do during this challenge and protector will save you from one extra bullet from almost any type of target. A full shotgun blast from an enemy cop will for 60 damage. Protector brings your armor up to 66 on Overkill and Overkill 145+. This will let you take another hit from any source before you start to take health damage. Not bad when survival is priority number one.
Overdrill
You have the golden mask. You're in the beta build. You got your recording software ready and are ready to fight for hours on end. There are many guides explaining how to do overdrill but none of them go into enough detail or give good recommendations on how to safely play.
DO NOT TAKE STUPID HOSTAGES!
I can not express this enough because of how many times I have seen it done on overkill and overkill 145+. If a hostage is in a spot that has poor cover or is far away from the group's camping spot then it can easily lead to end of the heist. An example of a bad hostage is one that is in the lobby of First World Bank. If you see a bad hostage, KILL IT! Once a hostage is ready to be traded that hostage must be traded in order for any other players to be traded. You cannot kill a trade ready hostage and the cops will not free them.
You should honestly know how to play First World Bank by now so I'll be brief. Nothing you do during the heist at the start will have any changes on the vault or the drill. Do as you normaly would and get the first drill completed. My personal recommendation would be to have all players camp around the manager's office. Then when the drill jams send one player to go and repair it. Be mindful of the sniper spawns though.
The 4 cameras that are positioned on the 6 pillars in the room where you do positions must be intact for the drill to activate. The camera in the hallway and any after the first room can be broken. Not all players will know this so just to avoid confusion and accidental resets it's safest not to break any cameras.
This is the first step to activating the secret vault. The next is for all 4 players to stand in a specific location in the main vault room to activate the drill. When the positions are done a red light will endlessly blink on the right side of the desk.

The person behind the desk does not need to be the person with the drill.
Once the red light is on go and start the overdrill and place the 2 thermite. Continue the heist as usual. I recommend going back to the managers office through the main lobby. If you did things quickly you should meet minimal resistance.
When the bulldozers are dead DO NOT ENTER THE CASH ROOM. Stay behind the metal gate and watch the hole from the thermite. The vault door only opens after you enter the room with the cash in it. If you wait before that you can lead all the cops to the thermite hole making it much, much easier and safer to leave the vault. It shouldn't take more than 2 minutes for the cops to gather above you. However depending on the power of the host's computer and their internet connetion this could take longer. After that enter the cash room and grab the money. Have one person watch out for cops that drop in. If you are in a well experience team and aren't worried about rushing, feel free to skip this step. However I will point out that skipping this step only puts you at an extra risk for no reward. You still need to wait the same amount of time for the overdrill to finish so why not take the few extra minutes in the vault to preserve health and ammo?
The two main camping spots are
If you choose to camp the manager's office you should only drop 1 medic and ammo bag. Save the other bags for when you go to empty the Overdrill vault.
If you choose to camp the 4 indents then be warned that one next to the door way on the left is bugged and cops can shoot you through the wall. This is fixed in the official release but not in the beta. Sit still and don't engage the cops. Wait for them to get into your view and then kill them.
No matter which camping spot you pick be sure to pick up ammo from dead cops instead of using ammo bags and use hostage trades to heal instead of medic bags. Only use bags when you have 2 or less players left alive.
There are 24 tiles that can be pressed in a 4x6 grid. Only 6 need to be pressed in any order. If one wrong tile is pressed then the room leading to the overdrill vault will fill with posionous gas and you will need to restart. The top left of the grid lines up diagonaly with the overdrill vault door. This is useful to help find the first dummy tile before you skip it to enter the first correct tile.
It is easiest to start at the top left and go in a Z like shape.

After the first saw
DO NOT BREAK ANY CAMERASThe 4 cameras that are positioned on the 6 pillars in the room where you do positions must be intact for the drill to activate.
Common mistakes about positions
It does not matter what direction you face when you are standing in the 4 positions. The person behind the desk does not need to be the person with the drill.
Once the red light is on go and start the overdrill and place the 2 thermite. Continue the heist as usual. I recommend going back to the managers office through the main lobby. If you did things quickly you should meet minimal resistance.
Cash vault
Once the thermite is done go and empty the vault. Beware of the 4 bulldozers that will spawn in the vault. Be sure to enter as a group and take them out quickly. Stay together and don't go into the center of the vault area. The c4 trick
It's said that placing 2 c4 on the escape wall will stop spawns from the elevators in the vault hallway. This is close to the truth but not entirely accurate. The real trigger for stopping the elevator spawns is really just getting the c4 prompt. Placing the 2 c4 is just a time saver for the end.Where to camp
The cash vault is empty, the c4 is ready to be placed, all that is left is to wait for the drill to be done. The two main camping spots are
- The manager's office (recommended)
- The 4 indents in the wall right behind the first drill
Floor codes
Once the two hour drill is done there is one last step for completing the overdrill. The floor codes. You can either send one person who is also recording to go and empty the vault alone or you can go as a group. Both methods are acceptable but remember that you must show all the gold being gone in the recording. A screenshot doesn't count.
Escape
After the vault is empty be sure to heal and ammo up. It might be worth practicing a few First World Bank heist before doing the 2 hour overdrill just so you can practice playing with minimal bag usage and getting good at the escape.
Final Comments
I hope this guide was helpful for you and your crew. If anything is incorrect please let me know and I will try to fix it swiftly. If you are struggling to get a good crew to do an overdrill with then feel free to ask around on the discussions page.
I'll mention this only because I want to be as informative as possible. Even though I said you will be disqualified if you don't play on Overkill 145+ difficulty, if you play on the custom 193+ difficulty you will NOT be disqualified. I didn't mention this in the disqualification section only because I don't expect any one not already in the secret group trying to get into the group on by playing on 193+.
If you wish to translate this guide then go right ahead. All I ask is that you credit me.
