Travelling

While exploring on foot, sprinting can appear a little monotonous and boring. You can always try this key combination so you can travel in more efficient way. For PC: While sprinting, by quickly pressing Q ( unarmed attack ) and then holding Space ( jetpack ) you will travel through the air at top speed. Demonstration:
Keep in mind!:
This trick will work better when your jetpack tanks are improved with movement upgrades.

While travelling for little longer distances I recommend using creatures as mounts. Yes - you can always use exocrafts, however animal companions don't slow down while climbing up a hill or moving through irregular terrain, so in theory they are the fastest mean of transport out there. Especially be on a lookout for four-legged synthetic creatures. Most of them will provide you with great peace of travel, just remember that they feed on ion batteries!

Keep in mind!:
You can find synthetic creatures in rare, uninhabited systems. Personally, I have most often encountered them in red systems.

Very interesting thing I noticed a while ago is that placement of upgrade modules affects the stats of your starship/multi-tool. Here's an example: I will use 3 different upgrades for Hyperdrive:
- solid state frame drag limiter ( A class )
- gyroscopic frame drag limiter ( A class )
- illegal upgraded relativity shield ( X class ) Position 1
Position 2
Position 3

As you can see, Hyperdrive Range changes slightly in each position. It probably won't affect travelling between systems much, but just remember to pay attention to technology placement so it can be used to it's limits.

Resources

Nanites are important currency when it comes to purchasing upgrade modules, hazard protections, upgrading multi-tool's/starship's class etc.
It took me way too long to realise that you can harvest them through refining certain materials, here's the list of those I found: Keep in mind!:
  • atlantideum can be refined into pugneum
  • runaway mold can be obtained from curious deposits scattered around planets or can be refined from living slime
  • you can obtain flesh ropes and vile spawns from hungering tendrils found on infested planets/xeno-colonies

...instead you can easily collect them in many ways, without spending precious nanites.

Additionaly, Expeditions are literal gold mines regarding upgrade modules. You can transfer desired modules through terminal in Space Anomaly when you complete all milestones!

Before some of you laugh at me, it was actually pretty hard for me to notice this at first, because I always kept my distance from dangerous flora and never bothered to research it. It turnes out you can gather oxygen from Grassy Pods growing on them. Maybe some of you will find it useful in dire situations.
Every pod gives ~17 oxygen.

Units

I don't have much to say on this topic except that in my opinion, one of the best ways of earning units is scanning. It doesn't require any complex plans or resources and it's basically enjoyable. To maximize your income you should focus on upgrading your multi-tool's scanner in the area of analysis rewards.

For example, my multi-tool has 3 S-tier scanner upgrades installed, so for every scanned plant/mineral I gain ~50,000 U and for every scanned creature - ~435,000 U. Maybe that's not the fastest way to get filthy rich, but it's simple and quite profitable.

If you are looking for a quicker, but still not very demanding, way of earning money I suggest collecting storm crystals. Each piece is worth 211,150 U, so for every 10 crystals you should earn about 2,111,500 U. All you need to do is find an extreme planet ( it has to feature an activated metal, look at the example below ) and prepare a good hazard protection. You can harvest storm crystals only during storms hearby to their's name.

Exploration

Some time ago, I noticed that black holes aren't as random as the game claims. Actually, travelling through them will only advance you towards the galactic core. So, if you don't want to skip the whole journey to the centre by using portal coordinates, black holes probably will be the fastest way to get there. Take a look: Stop no.1
Beelze system is my starting point.

Stop no.2
I continue travelling using the portal in Uettsovar system just below.

Stop no.3
This is where I end up using black holes twice.

Every time you use a black hole you will get 5-10 thousand light years closer to the galactic core, much faster than using the classic method.

Knowladge stones are one of the main ways to learn alien languages, which are necessary to communicate with the locals. If you want to enrich your personal dictionary I recommend paying a visit to planets with these adjectives:
Overgrown, Rainy, Lush, Humid, Viridescent, Bountiful, Doomed Jade etc.
Basically, the main factor connecting these types of planets should be no environmental hazards. Trust me, you won't find as many knowladge stones anywhere else.

To prove my point, here's a ss from a random place on a rainy planet.
