Preface

This guide thoroughly lists every static code and puzzle solution available in Resident Evil 2, required and optional. Sections are organized by appearance in game, but puzzles that are found in multiple areas, e.g. dial locks or safes, will all be listed in a single section. Below is some basic contextual information you may want to read to better understand the guide.
  • RUN A vs. RUN B: Some puzzles in this guide have different solutions for "RUN A" and "RUN B". If you aren't already aware, you beat the game as either character first, then play as the other character in a second, alternate run, that gives you access to some new areas, revamps enemy and item placements, and gives you access to new weapons and key items. If you are on your very first playthrough, and you first gained control of your character in the gas station, you are on RUN A. If you first gained control of your character at the cemetery, you are on RUN B.

  • Portable Safes: Solutions for portable safes will NOT be included in this guide. They are random solutions unique to each run.

  • Sherry's Wood Block Puzzle: The solution for Sherry's wood block puzzle will NOT be included in this guide. It's unique for everyone, but stays the same in subsequent playthroughs.

  • Ada's EMF Visualizer Puzzles: The solutions for the EMF Visualizer puzzles in Ada Wong's segment will NOT be included in this guide. There's nothing complex to memorize.

  • Key Item related puzzles: This guide will not go into detail for locations of key items, or where key items can be used.
